Story
Unfortunately we need to re-home our beloved Batman due to a health issue. Batman is my son dog and my son recently had a traumatic brain injury and we can not keep the dog. Batman is a sweet dog and loves to play with his toys and play fetch and keep away with them. He is a protective dog as his breed is a guard dog and he will do just that for the people he grows to love. He loves to go on walks. He does get along with other dogs but this will depend on there breed and there dominance issues.

Story
MEET CHAMBER!   7 year old Chamber has a big, beautiful smile and would love for his smile to greet you every morning to start your day. He is an active, friendly 86 pound Cane Corso/Lab/Pittie mix dog who has benefitted from his stay at our rescue by working on perfecting his walk as well as his leash manners and sociability, and we are so very pleased with the outcome.  He lives with and plays with dogs that are about his size or smaller, and he does well as long as he gets to know them slowly and with proper supervision. He is treat-motivated and quickly learned sit, down, and paw and we're sure you can teach him more with a handful of treats! Chamber has also worked on the 'leave it' command, making him much easier to train as he quickly returns his attention to his person when distracted by fascinating things like goats and chickens.     Chamber would prefer an active lifestyle or a large, fenced yard with plenty of attention, but at 7 years old, he has outgrown his puppy activity level, so he's very motivated for couch duty as well.   Chamber can be a bit too excited when getting treats, so we recommend he go into a home with children 10 and up. He has a prey drive and should not be in a home with cats, gerbils, hamsters, rabbits, etc.   Chamber's adoption donation fee is $350, which includes spay/neuter, routine vetting and a microchip. You can apply for Chamber by filling out our online application, which is found on our websitewww.tarashouse.net or www.tarashouse.org. Please email us at info@tarashouse.netwith any questions.   Can you be Chamber’s person?July 22, 2024, 1:44 pm

DISCLOSURE: The adoptable pets in our program are still in the care and custody of owners who wish to re-home their pet. Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Angel is 2yo, weighs 92lbs, is intact (however, her guardian will arrange for spay surgery prior to rehoming), is up to date on her vaccines, and is microchipped.  Angel's guardian adds:   "Angel knows 'sit', 'down', 'paw', and will wait to eat on command.  She dislikes/fears balloons, vacuums, bikes, and car rides (she's very anxious).  She's permitted free roam of the house during the day except for bedrooms, and she sleeps on her bed or in her crate at night. Angel currently eats Authority Sensitive Stomach + Skin Lamb & Rice Formula.  Angel deserves a stable home with someone that is able to give her attention 24/7 rather than being home and occasionally walked by different dog walkers/house sitters or in boarding places… She’s also not fond of car rides so bringing her is not an option even though I’ve tried.  It hurts but I know she deserves so much better than I can offer her. I’ve went back and forth about it for months now and it’s finally time for me to make the best decision." Angel's guardian explains why she has made the difficult decision to rehome her:  "Moving in August and starting a job that will require me to travel and be on the road a lot." Angel's guardian offers a brief a medical history:  "Environmental allergies and we help this by wiping her completely down with Pet MD Chlorhexidine Antiseptic Wipes after coming inside from walks or playing, cleaning her crate tray every other date, minimizing dust in the house or collected on her crate, and washing her blankets and beds weekly.  Vets recommend allergy shots; however, we've used the above methods as a cost efficient way to maintain her allergies instead and it works wonders."   Angel's guardian states the following regarding children:  Angel has lived with and lives with young children, ages 3-5, so her guardian recommends her living with children, stating... "Angel is very playful and LOVES attention.  She is a gentle giant with kids of all ages.  She can get overly excited and overestimate her power when kids are excited but she knows to calm down on command.  She grew up with my daughter who was a very curious and hyperactive 3 year old.  She’s never reacted to my daughter pulling her tail, moving her food, taking her toys, or anything. We worked on all of those reactive behaviors since she was a puppy." Angel's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Angel lived with another dog, so her guardian recommends her living with dogs, stating "Angel has lived with another dog her age for a short while.  They played very well together after being slowly introduced." Angel's guardian states the following regarding cats:  Since Angel has never lived with nor otherwise been around cats, her guardian doesn't recommend her living with cats. Angel's guardian describes her as: Very active Playful Friendly Likes to be touched Affectionate Protective Always at your side Indoor dog Outdoor dog House-Trained Crate-Trained Likes men Likes women Angel's guardian describes her ideal future home: "Angel’s ideal family is one who is very active and lives in a single family home with lots of space for her to roam.  Fenced backyard is a plus but definitely not required.  A family with young / middle aged kids that love to be outside and can play with her is also a plus!  She will get tired and so will they! ;)" Rehoming Fee:  None Location:  Edgewood, MD***** ADOPTION PROCESS  1. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Diesel Coal is of cane corso/lab/pit mix, is 5yo, weighs 77lbs, is neutered, is microchipped, but is not up to date on his vaccines.  Diesel Coal's guardian adds:  "He is such a loving boy who wants only love and to be able to trust in someone who won't hurt him.  He is alone at home 10-12 hours/day, is crated during the day and night, dislikes/fears the vacuum and other dogs, and is active but great during car rides.  I try healthy foods such as Pure Balance at Wal-Mart."   Diesel Coal's guardian explains why she has made the difficult decision to rehome him:  His guardian recently experienced an abrupt and unexpected housing situation and the premises in which she currently safely/securely lives doesn't offer enough space for his comfort. Diesel Coal's guardian states the following regarding children:  Diesel Coal lives with children (starting at age 6 and up and are currently 13 and 11yo), so his guardian recommends his living with children, stating "Loves to be petted by kids and play games of chase with a ball, not much of a fetcher". Diesel Coal's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Diesel Coal hasn't lived with dogs, so his guardian doesn't recommend his living with dogs, stating "He will sometimes whine and growl". Diesel Coal's guardian states the following regarding cats:  Although Diesel Coal lives with a cat, his guardian doesn't recommend his living with cats, stating "He likes our cat, but she doesn't like him..lol..he boops her with his nose, paws her to play or chases her".  Diesel Coal's guardian describes him as: Very active Playful Affectionate Independent Protective House-Trained Crate-Trained Likes men Likes women Diesel Coal's guardian describes his ideal future home:  "Diesel Coal would best go to a family who will love him unconditionally be patient and able to train him better.  Maybe a couple or older kids as he still is a big guy and can knock over small kiddos." Story
Hi, I'm Gotti! Don't let my size fool you. I am a sweet, gentle, giant. I am bonded with my best friend, Nala. We have been together our whole lives so we want to continue to stay together. I like walks outside, but I especially LOVE walking side by side with my Nala. I am a big guy, so I need someone that can handle walking us both. We both love kids! Cats.. not so much. I absolutely adore back scratches and car rides. I love playing with squeaky toys and kongs. I may be a big strong dog, but I am a sweetheart. If you're looking for two sweet dogs to brighten your days, look no further! Come meet us and fall in love! Interested in adopting us? We recommend submitting a general online adoption application and then heading to the shelter during our normal adoption hours (Mon: 12-4pm and Tues-Sun: 12-5pm) to meet our available animals. Please note: all applications are considered general until the animal has been met. If you have any questions, please contact animalcenter@bmorehumane.org or 410-833-8848 Ext/Opt 2.

Story
Hi! My name is Hercules. I am a Mastiff puppy weighing in at over 60lbs at 4 months old. I am up to date on my puppy shots and have been microchipped. I have been working so hard on my good boy puppy skills. I am housebroken, crate trained and I sleep all night. I walk well on leash, and even pass bunnies without reaction. I am a big boy who loves to play hard and chase after balls. I am still learning to bring them back. I love my foster family so much, and can't wait to show my new family all of that love too. I even love the dogs and cats in my foster home. I love my foster family so much that I am feeling protective over them. My foster Momma has started me in training with a local company. The rescue plans to cover the training fee to continue with my new family. My new family must be committed to once a week training with my trainer, and homework every day so I can practice and be the bestest boy ever. Because of my giant size and protective nature, the rescue feels that I should have an adult only home, and someone should adopt me who has large breed experience. ADOPTION PROCESS 1. Review our adoption contract and application. 2. Call your vet and references to inform them that a rescue representative will be calling. 3. Complete adoption application and submit following appropriate link below: Dog/Puppy: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HRMD/Dog Cat/kitten: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HRMD/Cat 4. You will be notified of outcome of your application within 1-3 days. 5. If approved, you will be introduced to the foster to schedule a meeting within 5 days. Guidelines for the meeting are: - Bring a leash and collar and be prepared to take the animal home directly from the meeting. - Meeting should be no longer than 1 hour. Our fosters are volunteers and we value and respect their time and personal commitments. - All members of the household (including other dogs) must be present. - Please be prepared to submit adoption fee via electronic payment at the meeting. - If all goes well, the dog will go home with you directly after the meeting. If you are not ready to adopt at the conclusion of the meeting, please understand that we may process other applications for the dog. Because we have a limited amount of foster homes, we cannot hold dogs past adoption. 6. Please review these resources prior to the meeting to be prepared with what to expect when bringing a new dog home: a. ttps://www.petfinder.com/dogs/bringing-a-dog-home/tips-for-first-30-days-dog/ b. https://www.dogstardaily.com/free-downloads 7. Please remember to include the dog's name you are interested in adopting to expedite your application in a timely manner! To submit an application, click here https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HRMD/Dog It takes us about 1-3 days to process applications. If for whatever reason you do not take the animal home after the first meeting, please understand that we will continue to process applications for the animal and availability is not guaranteed.
