Story
My friends at Wayside say:-I would like a quiet home environment-I will need a cat savvy adopter-I will need extra time to warm up in a home-I love attention on my terms-I love to play with toysRestrictions:-I must be your one and only cat-Children in the home must be 6 and olderTed is a handsome, intelligent, and affectionate cat who has made incredible progress while living in a foster home over the past 8–9 months. After being found as a stray, Ted initially struggled with overstimulation and adjusting to new environments. With patience, consistency, and plenty of enrichment, he has blossomed into a loving companion who enjoys spending time with his people.Once Ted feels comfortable in his surroundings, his sweet personality shines through. He loves giving enthusiastic head bonks, enjoys full-body pets, and will even jump onto your shoulders or back to rub against your head. While he enjoys affection, he prefers interactions on his own terms and appreciates having his boundaries respected.Ted is an active and playful cat who thrives with both physical and mental enrichment. Wand toys are his favorite, and he also enjoys fuzzy mice, spring toys, puzzle feeders, snuffle mats, bird videos, and other interactive activities. He is a smart cat who benefits from regular play sessions and a predictable routine.Because change can be challenging for Ted, he will need a patient adopter who can give him time to settle into a new home. Starting him in a small, quiet room and gradually expanding his space will help him adjust successfully. When stressed, Ted may become overwhelmed and can experience flare-ups of his feline herpes or occasional constipation, so a calm and consistent environment is important for him.Ted has lived in a home with other cats and a dog, but he is most confident when he doesn`t have to share his space. He has shown some success with slow, one-on-one introductions to another calm cat, but he becomes overwhelmed in busier multi-pet situations. For this reason, Ted would likely do best as the only pet, at least initially. Any introductions to other animals should be taken very slowly and carefully.Ted would do best in a home with children ages 6 and older who can understand and respect his need for a gradual adjustment period. Loud noises, storms, and significant changes can make him nervous.A few more things to know about Ted:He is very vocal a
