Story
Pumpkin is a sweet 9 year old girl looking for her forever home. She started out a bit shy, but now she comes right to the front of her kennel for love, pets and good head scratches. She’s soft, gentle, and would truly thrive with someone who has a calm, kind demeanor...the perfect companion for quiet company. Pumpkin recently got a lion’s cut after arriving with some matting, as her previous owner didn’t have the time to keep up with brushing. She’s feeling so much better now, and we can’t wait to see her beautiful dark fur grow back in. If you’d like to meet Pumpkin, please make an appointment and fill out an application online. She’s ready for her second chance.

Story
Meet Lovebug! This sweet little girl lives up to her name. She loves to purr and is so sweet. She was found as a stray so we don’t know much about her past life. She came to us pretty sick, at first we were scared it was cancer. But with some medications and love, she improved! She seems to have some underlying chronic inflammatory condition of her lungs, possibly asthma. Could also be allergies, we are not sure. But with periodic steroid injections, she gets comfortable and has shown improvement.   Lovebug seems to have a sensitive stomach anytime she is given canned food, but she does great on her dry food. She does well with other cats and all humans-children too.    We believe she is older, possibly 10-11 years old. She is a petite little girl, about 7.2 pounds. She would love to find a home to rest in and be around people.  The $25.00 adoption fee (  payable by cash or check only  ) includes: spay/neuter; vaccinations; senior bloodwork, microchip; fecal testing w/ giardia, flea prevention, and FIV/FeLV testing.  Our adoption application may be found by going to: www.headinhomerescue.org; then click on the link to the adoption application. Cats for adoption may be seen by appointment only following an approved application.  Please note: while we welcome out of state applications, we do not ship our animals and require adopters to come to Holland to finalize any adoption. Story
Eevee is a sweet, three year old girl and one of the biggest love bugs you’ll ever meet. She adores being hand fed treats like the queen she is, getting chin scratches and gentle pets. She also has the cutest little quirk, when her purr motor really gets going, she drools from pure happiness! Eevee lives comfortably with other cats here at Best Pals, so she would do well with friendly feline companions. Because of her past, she will need a home without dogs. She may come across as shy at first, but once she settles in, we’re confident she’ll be the type of cat who wants to stay right by your side. Eevee is ready to find a loving home where she can feel safe, adored and spoiled the way she deserves.

Story
Our beautiful boy Simba is looking for his fur-ever home! Simba was returned to us. He was adopted from us about 7 years ago as a kitten. He was adopted with his brother (their names were Timone and Pumbaa). Sadly Simba was returned but his brother stayed in their home. He now has to navigate a new life without his family and without his brother The family returned him saying he had an issue with a uti 2 years ago and was urinating out of the box, but after they treated the issue was resolved. But now they have a baby in the home, Simba urinated once out of the box again and they said they couldn’t have him in the home anymore. When we asked if they took him back to the vet to see if he had a uti again and could just treat him again, they said no. Simba has been back with us for a little while now. We have been closely monitoring for any accidents but he has not had any issues, he is using his litter box great. We had him evaluated with our vets and he had urinary cystitis-a painful bladder condition usually brought on by stress. He has received medications and laser therapy and currently the cystitis is resolved. He joined our other cats in the free roaming cat room to see how he does in there and he continues to be a good boy and using his litter box with no issues. Simba is now ready to find a foster home or fur-ever home. He is about 8 years old. He is SO sweet. He loves pets and snuggles. He is also adventurous and loves to explore but appreciates a nice comfy spot with a blanket to overlook everything.   Simba is neutered and microchipped, current on age appropriate vaccines. He has a negative fecal test, negative FIV/FeLV test as well. We also did additional organ screening bloodwork with him since he is over 7 years of age and the bloodwork had no concerns. Let’s see if we can find Simba a place to call his own for the New Year! The $75.00 adoption fee (  payable by cash or check only  ) includes: spay/neuter; vaccinations; senior bloodwork, microchip; fecal testing w/ giardia, flea prevention, and FIV/FeLV testing. Story
Meet Connie, the container kitty! Connie's story is both heartbreaking and hopeful. She was found trapped inside a storage container in a parking lot, buried in a snow drift after plows came through. A father and son heard her tiny meows and rescued her just in time. We took Connie in on a Sunday night when no one else could. She is about 5 months old, petite, vocal and incredibly sweet. She lights up when she meets people! Connie is fully vetted, and through this, we found she is FeLV positive. This means she will need to be an only cat or with other FeLV+ cats. She is also now spayed and up to date on all vaccines. Connie is ready for a safe, loving home where she'll never be left behind again.
