Almost Home believes that every animal deserves a loving home regardless of appearance, age, or physical limitation.  We have come together to give animals in need the safe and happy life they all deserve.  Almost Home Animal Rescue believes that no animal is expendable.  Adopting a friend:The animals, lucky enough to find refuge with Almost Home, are all in loving foster homes. If you are interested in the possibility of giving one of the animals a new lease on life, please contact us. The contact information is listed at the end of each biography.  What you need to do to adopt:If you would like to adopt a pet in need from Almost Home, basically, an application must be filled out. We will check two personal references and a vet reference. If you are approved for adoption, there is a trial period of about one week to make sure this is the animal for you and you are the person for the animal. Along with the trial period, a contract must be signed that basically states that if ever you cannot keep the animal that you must return the animal to Almost Home. Last but not least, a home check will be done. Meet & Greets:An approved application is required. This does not mean that you have to adopt but that you are approved to do so if everything works out. Since we are foster based, this limits the amount of people coming to our homes.  Hi there, I’m Jasper — the boy who finally got to hear the best word in the world: YES. I don’t know how long I waited in that shelter — long enough to watch my friends come and go, one by one. Every time someone stopped, I’d sit up extra tall, turn on my loudest purr, and hope maybe this time they’d see me. When they didn’t, my heart felt a little heavy… but I never stopped believing my yes was out there somewhere. And then one day, it happened. A kind volunteer looked over and said, “What about Jasper? Can he come too?” And just like that — the answer was yes. I rode away from the shelter with my two friends, Amber and Flint, my little paws pressed against the carrier door, eyes wide with wonder. Sunshine! Fresh air! A brand-new beginning! I couldn’t believe it was really happening. Now my days are filled with all the good things — chasing toys, batting at anything that moves, zooming around when the playful mood hits, and then curling up for cozy snuggles when I’m all tuckered out. I’m about six to seven months old, full of curiosity, affection, and fun. I'm very outgoing and I love to play and would be over the moon to have a kitty friend — I’ve always been happiest with a buddy to play with, nap beside, and share adventures. I'm have be fortunate to find my forever best friend, Michael. We have the best of times! We get along with other kitties too but we never want to lose one another. They say I’m handsome (I won’t argue), but what really makes me special isn’t just my tabby stripes — it’s my heart. I waited patiently. I held onto hope. And now I’m ready for my forever home. If you’re looking for a joyful, loving boy who believes in second chances — and will happily share his toys and his heart — I’m right here, waiting to hear yes one more time. Love,Jasper & Michael If you would like to meet your new best friend, contact the Adoption Coordinator at info@almosthometn.org or 865-236-0830. To fill out an application, go to www.almosthometn.org. If you cannot get it to work, let us know and we will email it to you in a different format. Unless otherwise noted, all Almost Home cats are healthy, spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and flea & tick preventative.ADOPTION FEE: The adoption fee for a cat is $85. The adoption fee for a kitten is $100. The adoption fee does include the kittens being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. The adoption fee for a dog is $200. The adoption fee for a puppy is $250. The adoption fee does include the puppies being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. Mature pet adoption fees are sometimes reduced. The adoption fee for pure bred dogs and cats will vary due to health and age of pet. This helps support our ill animals and our mutts that get left in the system longer. We do reserve the right to change the fees higher or lower due to the circumstance of the animal but what was stated above are the usual adoption fees.  Microchipped pets will have a higher adoption fee.  Our adoption fees do not cover the cost of the vetting and care the animal has received with us and if it ever does, the money just goes back it to helping other animals in need. February 9, 2026, 2:13 am

I’m a sweet, shy kitten looking for my forever home, and I’m hoping you’ll consider adopting me along with my brother, Howl. We’re an inseparable pair, and we’d be overjoyed to share our lives with you. At first, I might seem a bit reserved and shy, but it only takes me a few days to warm up to new people. If you approach me slowly and gently, I’ll start to feel safe and let you pet me! Food is definitely the way to my heart, so a little treat goes a long way in making friends with me. Once I’m comfortable and know I can trust you, I’ll come right up for cuddles. I love making biscuits on your lap and lying on the couch with you. I’m also a big fan of climbing and being up high, so you’ll often find me lounging on the tallest platform of our cat tree at home. I’m the SOFTEST kitty you’ll ever meet, and I absolutely adore other cats. My brother, Howl, and I are incredibly close. We snuggle and play together all day long, and I can’t imagine life without him. We truly make the perfect pair and bring so much joy to each other. I’m really hoping to find my forever home soon, and it would mean the world to me if I could find a home with you—and with Howl. We’re both affectionate and playful, and we promise to fill your days with love, laughter, and endless purrs. Thank you for considering giving us a chance. We can’t wait to become a part of your family and share our lives with you! I’m still getting used to saying that out loud — “I’m Amber.” It feels soft and kind… just like I’m hoping my life will be. Not long ago, I was all by myself in a loud, echoing place called the shelter. I didn’t know why I was there or where everyone had gone. The smells were strange, the sounds were overwhelming, and my little heart beat so fast all the time. I’m a shy girl by nature and can be nervous at first, especially in new places. I tried to be brave, but I was very lonely. Then one day, they opened my kennel door and placed me in with two boys — Jasper and Flint. I wasn’t sure what to think at first, but they were gentle and kind. Flint especially made me feel safe, and before I knew it, he was my comfort, my confidence, and my best friend. Having them with me made everything feel less scary, and for the first time in a while, I didn’t feel so alone. And then something wonderful happened — we got to leave together. I didn’t know what a “foster home” was, but I learned quickly. It’s a place with soft blankets, calm voices, and people whose hands are warm and safe. I’m still shy and can be nervous at first, but once I settle in, my sweetness really shines. I might take a little time to adjust, but I promise — I am so worth it. I’m a dilute tortie girl (they say my fur looks like soft watercolors), about five to six months old, and I am nothing but sweet. I love gentle affection, and at bedtime? That’s my favorite part of the day. I want quiet cuddles, soft voices, and someone to curl up with while the world goes to sleep. Flint is always right there with me, and we’d love a home where we can stay together — we truly are the best of friends. I may still be figuring things out, but I know this much:I’m ready for love, patience, and a family who will never let me feel alone again. A few treats, a cozy bed, bedtime cuddles, and my best friend by my side? That sounds just about perfect. Since we are foster based, this limits the amount of people coming to our homes.  They call me Spencer now—though once upon a time, I was just “that shadow outside.” You might have seen me if you’d passed by that house… a tall, sleek Bombay with silky black fur and glowing amber eyes, standing just out of reach. I wanted so badly to be touched, to be loved, but my paws hesitated. My heart whispered wait… is it safe? One day, it was. My foster mom’s kindness broke through my fear, and she brought me inside where the world was warm and safe. She worried for me out there—worried about a dog that was a little too curious, worried that my story would end before it ever really began. But now, I’m safe. Now, I’m a real inside cat… and oh, how I treasure it. See my tipped ear? That’s proof someone cared once, enough to have me fixed. But somehow, I ended up alone again. Still, I haven’t stopped believing in people. In fact, I’ll prove it—I’ll twine around your ankles until you bend down and scratch behind my ears. I’ll lean in, soft and trusting, asking you to stay.I get along wonderfully with other cats and even dogs, but what I crave most is you. Your touch, your voice, your love. I’ll sit in my blue cloth kitty box like a king on his throne, or curl by the window and watch the world outside, forever grateful that I don’t have to live it anymore. My meow may be tiny, but my heart? It’s enormous. I love food—soft meals, a sprinkle of cheese, even fish skin. But more than anything, I’m hungry for love, for a forever family who sees me not as a shadow but as a treasure they’ll never let go.Please… I’ve already spent too much of my life waiting. Don’t let me keep waiting. Will you be the one to love this silky mini-panther forever? I’m a handsome young man with a big heart, and I need your help to find a forever home—not just for me, but for my sister, Princess Mononoke, too. We’re a package deal, and our bond is so strong that we really don’t want to be separated. I absolutely adore everyone I meet—people and other cats alike! I’ll play with anything and everyone, and my playful spirit never seems to run out. I’m also a big fan of eating—so much so that we have to keep a close eye on me during breakfast and dinner because I’ll try to steal my sister’s food if given the chance. Princess Mononoke and I are the best of friends. We cuddle together, play together, and nap together.
