Story
Almost Home believes that every animal deserves a loving home regardless of appearance, age, or physical limitation. We have come together to give animals in need the safe and happy life they all deserve. Almost Home Animal Rescue believes that no animal is expendable. Adopting a friend:The animals, lucky enough to find refuge with Almost Home, are all in loving foster homes. If you are interested in the possibility of giving one of the animals a new lease on life, please contact us. The contact information is listed at the end of each biography. What you need to do to adopt:If you would like to adopt a pet in need from Almost Home, basically, an application must be filled out. We will check two personal references and a vet reference. If you are approved for adoption, there is a trial period of about one week to make sure this is the animal for you and you are the person for the animal. Along with the trial period, a contract must be signed that basically states that if ever you cannot keep the animal that you must return the animal to Almost Home. Last but not least, a home check will be done. Meet & Greets:An approved application is required. This does not mean that you have to adopt but that you are approved to do so if everything works out. Since we are foster based, this limits the amount of people coming to our homes. Hello! I'm not one to beg. I'm far too cool for that. But if you'll give me just a moment, I think I have a story worth hearing. Not long ago, I was out there on my own — navigating streets, scrounging for safety, doing whatever it took just to make it. Life out there is no joke. But then she found me — my foster mom. She opened her door, her home, and her heart to a big scruffy stranger and never once gave up on me. Because of her, I traded cold pavement for warm blankets, uncertainty for safety, and survival mode for something I hadn't felt in a long time — peace. She's been patient with me, giving me space to just breathe. I'll never forget what she did for me, but she says it's time, and I think she's right. It's time to find my forever home. Here's what I need you to know about me. I am chill — remarkably, wonderfully chill. My foster mom describes me as easygoing, relaxed, polite, and just plain loveable, and honestly, she's not wrong. I'm the kind of cat who settles into a home like I was always meant to be there. I'm gentle and loving, and I am especially wonderful with kids. My foster mom's neighbor brought her 5-year-old over, and that little guy picked me right up, petted me, and we played with a wand toy like we'd been best friends for years. I was totally here for it. And listen — I have taste. My foster mom made me a little bowl of plain boiled chicken one evening and I have never felt more seen in my entire life. A good meal, a warm home, someone to love — that's really all I ask for. Talk about leaving a huge smile on my face! Now, I know what some of you might be thinking when you scroll past my photo. Just another black cat. But I need you to stop right there, because I am so much more than that. My personality alone could fill a room. I am vocal, expressive, and I have so much to say — though I'll warn you, for a big strong muscular guy, my voice is... well... let's just say I'm the cat version of Mike Tyson. Built like a tank, but when I open my mouth? Pure kitten squeak. My foster mom finds it absolutely endearing, and I have a feeling you will too. I'm healthy, I'm young, I'm handsome, and I have a whole lot of love stored up from all those hard days on the street — just waiting to give it to the right person, the right family, the right home. I survived out there on my own. Then I found someone who believed in me. Now I'm ready to find you. Will you be my forever home? Love,AJ If you would like to meet your new best friends, contact the Adoption Coordinator at info@almosthometn.org or 865-236-0830. To fill out an application, go to www.almosthometn.org. If you cannot get it to work, let us know and we will email it to you in a different format. Unless otherwise noted, all Almost Home cats are healthy, spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and flea & tick preventative.ADOPTION FEE: The adoption fee for a cat is $85. The adoption fee for a kitten is $100. The adoption fee does include the kittens being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. The adoption fee for a dog is $200. The adoption fee for a puppy is $250. The adoption fee does include the puppies being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. Mature pet adoption fees are sometimes reduced. The adoption fee for pure bred dogs and cats will vary due to health and age of pet. This helps support our ill animals and our mutts that get left in the system longer. We do reserve the right to change the fees higher or lower due to the circumstance of the animal but what was stated above are the usual adoption fees. Microchipped pets will have a higher adoption fee. Our adoption fees do not cover the cost of the vetting and care the animal has received with us and if it ever does, the money just goes back it to helping other animals in need.
