Story
Delilah is about 5 years old. She was given to my 81 year mother about 2 years ago as a companion cat. My mother’s health is failing and she is no longer able to care for Delilah as needed. Delilah has a sensitive stomach and sometimes throws up if she eats too fast. She requires food specifically for cats with stomach issues. We have been feeding her Purina One Sensitive Stomach formula. I am allergic to cats and am unable to take Delilah in. She really is a sweet cat, and I’m hoping that someone will be able to take her in. She loves to lounge in a sunny window and loves to get pets and chin scratches (her absolute favorite).

Almost Home believes that every animal deserves a loving home regardless of appearance, age, or physical limitation.  We have come together to give animals in need the safe and happy life they all deserve.  Almost Home Animal Rescue believes that no animal is expendable.  Adopting a friend:The animals, lucky enough to find refuge with Almost Home, are all in loving foster homes. If you are interested in the possibility of giving one of the animals a new lease on life, please contact us. The contact information is listed at the end of each biography.  What you need to do to adopt:If you would like to adopt a pet in need from Almost Home, basically, an application must be filled out. We will check two personal references and a vet reference. If you are approved for adoption, there is a trial period of about one week to make sure this is the animal for you and you are the person for the animal. Along with the trial period, a contract must be signed that basically states that if ever you cannot keep the animal that you must return the animal to Almost Home. Last but not least, a home check will be done. Meet & Greets:An approved application is required. This does not mean that you have to adopt but that you are approved to do so if everything works out. Since we are foster based, this limits the amount of people coming to our homes.  URGENT!!! Hi, I'm Mr. Kitty. My story didn't start out easy. I was found as a tiny kitten, all alone, with no one to look after me. I wasn't healthy, and for a while it looked like I might even lose an eye. It was a scary way to begin. But then some wonderful people gave me a chance. With their care and the help of a great vet, I made it through. I'm in perfect health now — both eyes, a strong body, and a heart that never stopped hoping for something good. The family who saved me loved me well, and my dad has taken such good care of me. But now he's the one who needs care. He has a heart transplant coming up soon, and he's scared and worried — not just for himself, but for me too. He wants to know I'll be safe and loved while he focuses everything he has on getting well. That's why I need to find my new home now, before his surgery, so his heart can be fully on healing, not on worrying about me. I promise I'm easy to love. I'm a handsome herringbone tabby with the cutest little spots on my belly — my family always said I was one of a kind, and I like to believe them. I'm a cuddle bug through and through — happiest curled up on a warm lap, soaking in every bit of affection I can get. I'm a perfect gentleman, gentle and easygoing with everyone I meet. I love people, I love dogs, and I especially love other kitties — I'd give anything to have a friend to share my days with. I've already come so far from where I started. All I want now is a soft place to land — a family, a friend, and a lap that's mine. I know it's out there. I just haven't found it yet. And right now, my dad needs to know I'll find it soon. Please, if you can open your heart and your home, reach out today. Time is short, and so is his. I've already come so far from where I started. All I want now is a soft place to land — a family, a friend, and a lap that's mine. I know it's out there. I just haven't found it yet. If you think it could be you, I'll be waiting. Love,Mr. Kitty Unless otherwise noted, all Almost Home cats are healthy, spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and flea & tick preventative. If you would like to meet your new best friend, contact the Adoption Coordinator at info@almosthometn.org or 865-236-0830. To fill out an application, go to www.almosthometn.org. If you cannot get it to work, let us know and we will email it to you in a different format.ADOPTION FEE: The adoption fee for a cat is $85. The adoption fee for a kitten is $100. The adoption fee does include the kittens being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. The adoption fee for a dog is $200. The adoption fee for a puppy is $250. The adoption fee does include the puppies being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. Mature pet adoption fees are sometimes reduced. The adoption fee for pure bred dogs and cats will vary due to health and age of pet. This helps support our ill animals and our mutts that get left in the system longer. We do reserve the right to change the fees higher or lower due to the circumstance of the animal but what was stated above are the usual adoption fees.  Microchipped pets will have a higher adoption fee.  Our adoption fees do not cover the cost of the vetting and care the animal has received with us and if it ever does, the money just goes back it to helping other animals in need. August 12, 2026, 4:33 am

But not anymore. There was a time when the world felt pretty big to me. New sounds, new faces, new places — it was a lot, and I used to get scared more easily than I wish I had. But I worked at it, little by little, every single day, until one day I realized something: I wasn't scared anymore. I was just having fun. Now? I'm a playful, happy little troublemaker, and I regret nothing. I chase things. I pounce on things. I get into all kinds of harmless mischief, and I love every second of it. My brother Cecil probably thought he'd always be the bold one, but these days I'm right there with him.Cecil and I are still a team, through and through. If he wanders off somewhere I can't see him, I let him know about it — loudly — and he comes running back every single time. That's just how we work. We're better together, braver together, and honestly, a lot more fun together too.Our mama, Cordelia, is a sweet calico who found her own happy ending — she chose a family, and they chose her right back, so she gets to stay in that home forever. I'm so glad she got that. Now Cecil and I are ready for our own forever too — a lively, playful home that can keep up with two confident little troublemakers who are more than ready for adventure. If you've got room in your heart for a happy, silly, fully-out-of-his-shell kitten (and his equally bold brother), I'd love to meet you. We're ready when you are.Love,Ernest & Cecil *Due to size, no small children****When puppies and kittens are adopted before being fixed, they MUST be adopted in East Tennessee. If you would like to meet your new best friends, contact the Adoption Coordinator at info@almosthometn.org or 865-236-0830. I'm scared, and I don't have much time, so I need to say this fast: my mommy's job is making her move, somewhere I can't come with her. She doesn't want to leave me. She has to. And I need someone to catch me before that happens. Let me tell you who I am, because I promise I'm worth the rush. I'm a Bombay girl, about four years old, with green eyes people tell me they could get lost in — voluptuous, glossy black, and honestly, a little dramatic, in the best way. I'm a caretaker at heart. I look after everyone around me, checking to make sure they're okay, keeping tabs on my people like it's my job. But I'll admit it — I'm also a bit of an instigator. I like to stir things up a little. Keeps life interesting. I love to eat, and I will absolutely remind you when it's mealtime — loudly, persistently, and without shame. I attach fast and hard to my people; once you're mine, you're mine. I still get the zoomies sometimes, which is honestly pretty funny for a girl my size, but I don't care, it's fun and it makes my people laugh. And when I sleep? I face-plant. Like the meme. Every time. I have no dignity about it and I regret nothing. My favorite thing in the whole world is firm pats right on my rear end. Don't ask me why. It's just my thing. Give me that and I am the happiest love bug alive. I don't want to lose another home. I want somewhere I get to stay — forever, no more goodbyes, no more being left behind. I have such a short time to find that place, and I'm hoping so hard that it's you. Please, if you have room for a voluptuous, food-motivated, face-planting, love-bug of a girl who will look after you just as much as you look after her — reach out now. I'm waiting, and I don't have long. Love, Bean *Guest Posting If you would like to meet your new best friend, contact the Adoption Coordinator at info@almosthometn.org or 865-236-0830. We only have a very short time left to find a new home, and I'm frightened. Please, if you're reading this, we need you.I was at the shelter too, same as Uno. That's where we found each other, actually — two scared girls who needed somebody, and somehow we became everything to each other. I'm a long-haired black beauty, if I do say so myself, with one tiny white spot under my chin that I like to think makes me just a little bit special.I'll be honest with you: I'm shy. I like to tuck myself away behind the TV where it's quiet and safe, and it takes me a little time to trust someone new. But once I learn you're safe — really safe — I warm up so much, and I love pets more than almost anything. I just need patience while I get there. And treats help. I am absolutely, hopelessly in love with Churros treats — bring those out and I might just decide you're my new best friend a little faster. But the truth is, what matters most to me isn't the hiding spots or the treats. It's Uno. She's my sister, my best friend, my whole heart. She came from a hard place — she lost an eye before she ever found her way to us — but she survived, and somehow we found each other and never looked back. We've been inseparable ever since. I couldn't imagine my life without her, and I don't want to try. We're both quiet souls. We're not loud, we're not chaotic — we just want a calm, gentle home where we can settle in at our own pace. We've been around small children before, and it was a lot for us; we'd really thrive in a peaceful household instead. And please, we need to stay together, and we need to be the only pets — just the two of us, learning to love a new family without anything else to adjust to at the same time. We're both three years old. We're bonded. And a home together would be everything we've ever dreamed of. Please, if you have room in your heart and your home for two gentle, loving girls, reach out now. We're running out of time, and we're hoping so hard that you're the one.Love, Stella & Uno*Guest PostingIf you would like to meet your new best friends, contact the Adoption Coordinator at info@almosthometn.org or 865-236-0830.
