Story
Willett is a Catahoula Leopard Dog with endless energy. He enjoys walks in the woods and running around in the backyard. Willett enjoys playing fetch inside and outside. Willett is a great runner and can run multiple miles a day on a leash with an avid runner. Willett is one and half years old. Unfortunately due to our kids allergies and busy sports activities Willett doesnt get enough time out being a dog. We want Willett to go to a home with a large backyard or farm where he can have the time to run around and play. Willett will come with two large cages, dog bed, dog bowl, and his toys.

Story
Are you shy? Do you have a past? Well, so does Jim. He came to us from a not so nice person. He was shut down and terrified of everything. Now after some work and confidence building he is learning to trust and to love again. Jim is a special guy who just needs patience to make you a friend. He loves other dogs but not so much cats. He is great with women after you've earned his trust. Men are harder for him unfortunately but if you're willing to be patient then maybe you could take a chance on this handsome guy. Once you earn his trust he is the most amazing, loving, kind, silly boy you'd meet! If you're anything like him and have a past you know just how hard it is to gain your trust but when people do you're the best thing in the world. Could he build trust with you? If Jim seems like the perfect boy to take a chance on, please apply on the MACS website!April 26, 2024, 10:27 am

Story
Emma is a beautiful 1.5 year old catahoula mix with sparkling blue eyes. She was pulled from a local animal shelter and is looking for her perfect forever family. Her gentle nature makes her great around kids, cats and other dogs. While she can be a little shy when she meets new people, she quickly warms up and let's her personality shine! She loves bones and toys and running in the yard with her doggie friends! ##2034456##

Story
Ida Mae is a country girl, she loves the outdoors and the farm life.  She was dumped near a farm and the woman there was kind enough to take her in and put weight back on her and get her vetted.  Unfortunately many dogs are dumped here so she patiently awaits a home of her own. Ida Mae prefers the outdoors and would be a great camping and hiking partner or would love to live and work on a farm.  She is good with most farm animals though we don't know about cats. Ida Mae is located in Tignall GA where there is no formal animal control facility and very little help for homeless pets. Please be willing to meet in the Athens or Madison, GA area -- which is about halfway between here and their foster (who cares for many and can't be too far from home base). Age: 1 yr  Weight: 50 lbs  Training: Housetraining in progress and crate-trained.   Temperament: Good with dogs and kids (no experience with younger/toddlers).    Vetting: Spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, heartworm negative and on prevention.  Email for questions: messparker@gmail.com   To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption) for caretakers to review. Once your application is approved, we will bring the adoptable pet to your home for a preliminary visit.April 26, 2024, 9:18 am

Story
Marie is a real go-getter.  She loves an active life, she loves the water and would like a family who can help her get out her energy and share her zest for life.   She is a little cautious with new people but warms up quickly.  We say she's better with older kids because she is bigger and high energy. She does need to be an only pet. Age: 2 years  Weight: approx 60 lbs   Vetting: Up-to-date on vaccines, spayed, and heartworm negative   Temperament: not good with other dogs or cats, initially cautious with new people, best with older kids.  Training: House trained, crate trained, some well trained.  Contact email:  Sheltersxshelvesrescue@gmail.com To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption) for caretakers to review. Once your application is approved, we will bring the adoptable pet to your home for a preliminary visit. We are 100% donation-funded, and our fees are equivalent to (or less than) the cost to fully vet a new dog yourself April 26, 2024, 9:18 am

Please call the shelter at (706) 795-2868 to schedule a meet and greet.Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter is a non-profit shelter serving over 720 square miles. We are open intake, meaning we can not turn away animals from either county we serve. Since so many animals enter the shelter we often don't have enough volunteers to write an individual bio for each. Please feel free to call the shelter Wednesday-Sunday to inquire about the animal you are interested in. 706-795-2868.Viewing and adoption hours at our shelter are Wednesday through Sunday from 12 PM to 5 PM.
