Story
This brindle girl is a sweet and loving pup that wants to hug you as soon as she sees you. Her coat is soooo soft, and at around 1 years old and 37+ lbs, she is the perfect size. She is dog & people friendly and definitely worth meeting. Thank you for your interest in one of our Hero Babies! Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies. Your Current Pets - We do require that your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered. Adoptions - We do not have a shelter and are a foster-home based organization. We do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a home visit prior to adoption. Inquiries - If you would like more information on any dogs in the rescue, please email us at info@herorescue.org.

Story
Are you shy? Do you have a past? Well, so does Jim. He came to us from a not so nice person. He was shut down and terrified of everything. Now after some work and confidence building he is learning to trust and to love again. Jim is a special guy who just needs patience to make you a friend. He loves other dogs but not so much cats. He is great with women after you've earned his trust. Men are harder for him unfortunately but if you're willing to be patient then maybe you could take a chance on this handsome guy. Once you earn his trust he is the most amazing, loving, kind, silly boy you'd meet! If you're anything like him and have a past you know just how hard it is to gain your trust but when people do you're the best thing in the world. Could he build trust with you? If Jim seems like the perfect boy to take a chance on, please apply on the MACS website!April 17, 2024, 1:54 pm

Story
Hello! My name is Smokey, I was brought to the shelter by my owner that was going through drastic life changes and could not take me into the new living situation. My owner did say I am crate and potty trained but will need to get onto your schedule when I come home. I was rather scared when I first came in but am warming up quickly. I am a playful man and like when you throw a ball for me, it's a toss-up if I'll bring it back to you, hehe. If you would like to come meet me, I'd greatly prefer to meet my prospective doggie siblings before coming home with you. Come by and I'll steal your heart today!Weight: 50lbs Primary Color: Brown Secondary Color: White Weight: 50.8 Age: 1yrs 4mths 2wks

Story
Ida Mae is a country girl, she loves the outdoors and the farm life.  She was dumped near a farm and the woman there was kind enough to take her in and put weight back on her and get her vetted.  Unfortunately many dogs are dumped here so she patiently awaits a home of her own. Ida Mae prefers the outdoors and would be a great camping and hiking partner or would love to live and work on a farm.  She is good with most farm animals though we don't know about cats. Ida Mae is located in Tignall GA where there is no formal animal control facility and very little help for homeless pets. Please be willing to meet in the Athens or Madison, GA area -- which is about halfway between here and their foster (who cares for many and can't be too far from home base). Age: 1 yr  Weight: 50 lbs  Training: Housetraining in progress and crate-trained.   Temperament: Good with dogs and kids (no experience with younger/toddlers).    Vetting: Spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, heartworm negative and on prevention.  Email for questions: messparker@gmail.com   To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption) for caretakers to review. Once your application is approved, we will bring the adoptable pet to your home for a preliminary visit.April 17, 2024, 6:39 pm

Story
Marie is a real go-getter.  She loves an active life, she loves the water and would like a family who can help her get out her energy and share her zest for life.   She is a little cautious with new people but warms up quickly.  We say she's better with older kids because she is bigger and high energy. She does need to be an only pet. Age: 2 years  Weight: approx 60 lbs   Vetting: Up-to-date on vaccines, spayed, and heartworm negative   Temperament: not good with other dogs or cats, initially cautious with new people, best with older kids.  Training: House trained, crate trained, some well trained.  Contact email:  Sheltersxshelvesrescue@gmail.com To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption) for caretakers to review. Once your application is approved, we will bring the adoptable pet to your home for a preliminary visit. We are 100% donation-funded, and our fees are equivalent to (or less than) the cost to fully vet a new dog yourself April 17, 2024, 6:39 pm

Story
Hi! My name is Marie and I am looking for a forever home! I need to be the only dog in the house since I don't get along with other animals. I also need a little bit of training too. It may take some time to build a connection with you, but once I do I become your very best friend! I'm a big girl so I would love a huge back yard to run around in. I love treats and I love to play! My favorite types of toys are anything that squeaks. Fetch and tag are also some of my favorite games to play with you! I am a sweet girl but I do get scared sometimes. I love belly rubs and I love to swim!

These pups are in Cumming, Georgia too!

We pulled this boy off the table of death with just hours to spare as we were told he's the bestest boy ! And he truly is. Just because he's not a doodle or a fluffy or a scruffy or a puppy, doesn't mean he had to die. We know he is special. Harpo is 1.5 yrs old and a friendly boy. At 58lbs and with such beautiful coloring, he's lucky to breathe fresh air thanks to Hero ! He is people & dog friendly and wants to be someone's loyal companion. He will be an even luckier pup if YOU are his forever home. Come out and meet Harpo - one of the lucky ones. Thank you for your interest in one of our Hero Babies!
