My name is Floyd! I have been in rescue for quite a while and we know that 2026 will be my year. You could say 2025 was the best year of my life. (But, finding my home in 2026 will certainly beat it!) Why was 2025 so special? I was rescued from an awful situation. I was finally given the medical care I needed; I was finally given food when I was hungry; I was finally given love and affection; and I finally learned to trust humans. In my former life, I didn't have any of that. I survived and I am living proof it can all turn around when you land with the right humans. I am around 5 years old, 57 lbs and a stunning Catahoula mix. In 2025, aside from so many fortunes I was provided, two huge things happened. I had a procedure to correct my vision, now I can see clearly! I also finally got my diabetes under control. I am thriving with my two insulin injections and day - it's not a lot and I take it like a champ; it's just part of my routine! I feel GREAT. I am seeking a fantastic permanent home with a fenced in yard and an owner who will take me on walks and be my true companion. I have not been around kids under 13 so an adult home or one with older kids is ideal. I also don't need a very busy home; I honestly don't need much - a couch, some toys, and most importantly my dedicated humans. I love to cuddle and I entertain myself quite nicely with my toys. (previously known as Leonardo at the shelter, lovingly dubbed Harlem by his fosters) Sweet boy Harlem is only 1 year old and weighs 60 lbs. He has a rare light merle coloring that makes him stand out, but this good boy also has an outstanding personality! He is friendly and outgoing, greeting everyone he can – and climbing into laps if he can, too! Harlem is a sweet boy who does happy zoomies and enthusiastically plays with his toys. Harlem bonds deeply to his people and looks to them for comfort. Poor Harlem was originally found as a stray and although he suffered from kennel stress in the shelter, he was otherwise a very good boy. With how loving he is and how good at giving kisses, it is no wonder Harlem steals hearts wherever he goes! Harlem absolutely adores his fosters, wanting to be by their side and can tend to be a "velcro dog" so he is all about being your best friend! Being a young guy, Harlem has a higher energy level, so he loves to go for walks and play outside. He is dog friendly, currently living with multiple other dogs but will need proper intros, of course. Harlem is so excited to begin his second chance at life!
