Story
Let’s welcome Dug to BTBPR!    This approximately 9 year old Chiweenie was saved from the life of living outside his whole life.    Here are some words from his foster:   Dug will be looking for a home to call his own soon!!  Dug is an absolute sweetheart and would love a family that is home most of the time. He is blind in his left eye and visual impairment in his right eye from cataracts, but doesn’t let that slow him down in the least. He loves to go outside and explore the backyard and can jump up and down from the couch on his own.  He is a huge fan of pup cups and has done great on car rides sitting on a blanket and wearing a seatbelt attached to his collar. He’s a dream on the leash and listens well when I call him to follow me.    We are working on crate training so that he is safe when I have to leave the house. He struggles with being in the crate if nobody is around and will bark and cry, but if someone is near he’s usually fine.    We use belly bands if he wants to wander around the house as he does sometimes mark. This behavior has improved but we occasionally still have to tell him no and redirect him outside. He also has some incontinence at night; however, I do let him sleep on my bed on top of washable incontinence mattress protector and a blanket. He doesn’t move position often at night and has so far only had accidents on the potty pad. He would also probably be ok sleeping in a crate next to the bed as long as he knows you are there but we haven’t tried that out yet because he’s so sweet and loves to snuggle at night.    He spends the majority of the day sitting next to me (and my other small dog) on the couch and I think he would do fine in a house with other animals as he is so chill and doesn’t initiate contact with my dogs. He is not a big fan of my new dog but she is young and super high energy, and he tolerates her sleeping next to him on the couch when she is calm.  He will growl at her if she gets too close to him while he is eating or trying to sleep but he has never tried to bite or nip. Dug also loves playing with small squeaker toys and enjoys butt scratches, belly rubs and snuggles. He has loved everyone he’s met so far and cuddled up to my husband the first time they met.    Dug would prefer a family that is home the majority of the time and is a sweet older gentleman that would make a great addition for anyone looking for a couch potato love bug that doesn’t need constant attention and is content to sit or lie next to you all day and night!!   Please fill out an application on our website so we can arrange a meet and greet followed by a home check. His adoption fee is $150 and will be applied to his medical bills. Dug is neutered, current on vaccines and microchipped. We are waiting for the results of his senior blood panel that was done at San Tan Animal Hospital on 1-7-25. February 5, 2025, 8:06 am

Bohlen is a very handsome Chihuahua mix. If you are looking for a playful and loyal companion, he is the perfect boy for you! He is very smart and curious about the world around him. He would be the perfect companion for someone who is able to give him the time and attention he needs as he continues to grow. While he’s an indoor dog, he also needs a home with a safely fenced yard to run and play in with his family. He is not suited for apartment/condo/mobile home/town home living. If there are children in the home, it’s preferable that they’re over the age of 7 years as they have impulse control. Bohlen's adoption fee is $400. Here's what that includes: Neuter surgery Vaccinations, including Rabies Deworming Vet Check Microchip Maricopa County license Please contact Carrie On Rescue if you have any questions about Bohlen or if you would like an application for him: email: carrieonrescuers@hotmail.com text: (480) 603-7680.

Story
Autumn is a 5 year old, 17 pound Chihuahua blend with eyes that will stare right into your soul. This affectionate cutie seems to always have a wagging tail. She has good leash manners, and knows basic commands. She likes to be close to her humans and is more interested in them than toys. Her favorite activity is rolling around in the grass. Autumn doesn't want to share her humans with other dogs so she'll be happiest as your only canine companion. Autumn is enjoying being spoiled by one of our amazing foster homes and will be at the adoption center on Saturdays from 10am-4pm, or you may email Debbie@AzFriends.org to arrange a weekday meeting. No appointments are necessary and you can come and see us any time we are open. Please go to our website (www.azfriends.org) to fill out a consultation form then come and see us! We do require any family interested in meeting our dogs or cats to fill out a consultation form – this form helps us determine if the dog/cat and the home are a good match, since it is so easy to fall in love with a photo, without knowing the personality of the dog. Once you have filled out the online Adoption Consultation Form, just come in and see us (or come and see us and fill out the consultation form upon arrival)! Please note that ALL dogs and cats are available to the first home that meets the dog or cat that we feel is a good match. In order to help make the best match, we do want all family members (dogs and humans) to meet any potential new family member. Our adoption center hours are: Closed Sunday/Monday; Tuesday 10a-2p, Wednesday 3p-7p, Thursday 3p-7p, Friday 10a-2p, Saturday 10a-4p. We are located at 952 W Melody Avenue in Gilbert (zip code 85233).All animals are altered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, licensed (dogs). Cats tested for FELV/FIV. Dogs tested for Heartworm. All animals are available to the first family that is a good match, and if we have more than one animal who is a good match, there will be a lottery for all matches. Note that families must have come in to our adoption center and spoken with an adoption counselor prior to any lottery (when we have lotteries, they usually occur on Saturday mornings).

Story
Meet our guy Tofu. He is a 4 year old Chihuahua mix that is looking for a forever home. He originally came to us as a stray from Maricopa County Animal Control. This little gentleman weighs around 13 pounds. He's a sweet, loving boy who enjoyed meeting other dogs, but didn't enjoy getting his picture taken! He'll do best in a home with a yard where he can relieve himself, and best with kids over age 5+. He's living at a foster home so come and see us and we'll hook you up with some good Tofu! You are welcome to submit an inquiry for more information about this animal, but please note that we strongly encourage potential adopters to come and see us in person and speak with an adoption counselor. No appointments are necessary and you can come and see us any time we are open. We do ask for 24 hours time to respond to an inquiry (48 hours on weekends) and often a dog or cat is adopted before you get a response back. If this dog was not good with other dogs, cats or has a restriction with kids, we will note them in the bio. In keeping with new guidelines regarding COVID19, will be limiting the number of people in our building at any given time, but currently do not require appointments. We do want a dog to meet all family members and any canine residents prior to adoption, to ensure a good match. Please go to our website (www.azfriends.org) to fill out a consultation form then come and see us! We do require any family interested in meeting our dogs or cats to fill out a consultation form – this form helps us determine if the dog/cat and the home are a good match, since it is so easy to fall in love with a photo, without knowing the personality / needs of the dog / cat. Once you have filled out the online Adoption Consultation Form, just come in and see us!Please note that ALL dogs and cats are available to the first home that meets the dog or cat that we feel is a good match. An inquiry on a dog or cat does not automatically put that dog or cat on hold for anyone. Deposits can be placed on all available dogs or cats after the family has met the dog or cat and we all feel the match is a good match. If there’s more than one family interested in a dog when that dog becomes available, we will hold a lottery with all families that are a good match.
