· ptrSseodnotmfpmtA 0969t 1u1m6 it0A5cl7:3a35ma03raumaa20167M  ·  HARVEY (Sacramento, CA) 3 years old. 4.4lbs. PAINFULLY CUTE. #ouch Harvey has fallen in love with the outdoors. He absolutely loves the sun and taking a nap in its warmth. Harvey is looking for a very special foster or adopter. He is most needing someone that understands safe attachment being foundational for any training, especially potty training. With his neglect and stressful hoarding background (he came from 25 dogs!), he has not had the chance to learn any of the skills that will help him be successful... yet. Harvey is a quick learner, however, and is already showing how eager he is to grow. He is driven by affection and responds well to gentle correction and reassurance. Harvey is also looking for someone that understands the increased safety risks of dogs his size. From birds of prey to the smallest holes in your fence, being this little means the big world around him can present dangers that someone experienced with his size would understand. This is also true for his longterm veterinary care. Chihuahuas this size have an increased propensity toward certain health issues. The right adopter will be committed to his veterinary health, especially that of his teeth. Harvey just had a dental and 10 teeth removed due to the severity of the neglect he survived. Care for his oral health will be crucial to his longterm happiness. Finally, Harvey needs a family with another dog or two his size. As we've assessed what helps Harvey feel safest, it's clear that a friend his size boosts his confidence and helps him learn the ropes of training. Please visit our website if you would like to foster or adopt little Harvey. If you're not looking to expand your family at this time, please consider making a tax deductible donation. No amount is ever too small. As always, your 'likes,' comments, and shares are always appreciated. www.gunterslegacy.org ##2379796##

Story
· dsorpoSetnh:l9u8mhlAii9cttm36u4mAu 40 07l3r3au7Mpc1 f0l1981  ·  MAGGIE…only she’s not a “Maggie” after all. Help us name her! (Sacramento, CA) Meet “Maggie.” Well, the miniature alien woodland creature formerly known as Maggie. She is part Wolverine, part baby warthog (see photos), and 100% a tiny love bug. She and Harvey came to us after being rescued from a 25 dog inbreeding hoard. The two are currently on a trial separation to identify whether they’re bonded. We don’t believe they are, but we are learning so much about them in the process. This little long eyebrow queen is very sweet. Despite being told that she’s had zero human contact before rescue, she is eager and so interested in learning what love is supposed to feel like. She is just 4lbs, and we’re pretty sure her back Mohawk and eyebrows make up half her weight. She is doing very well with beginning house training. She is receptive to the idea that cats don’t like to be shouted at, and she is very interested in being a patient friend to dogs her size. (She kissed her foster brother’s face this morning.) She has a wee howl when she is displeased, and a tiny little “ARF!” bark. Such a unique creature is proving difficult to name. Here are a few we’ve tried on: Maggie, Olivia, Kimmy Gibler, Darla, Molly, Margot, toasty enchilada and more. Nothing is right! Can you help us name her? We’d be so grateful for your help finding her name, in part because though she’s 6 years old, she’s never had one. Maggie is not yet available for adoption. She has been spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped, but she needs a dental next. Due to her size, she will have to wait 7 more weeks to undergo anesthesia again. TBD on her status. Any interested applicants are welcome to apply. She’ll require an experienced adopter and a no small child family. Find our adoption application here: https://www.gunterslegacy.org/adopt ##2379799##

Story
Pomona, CA You must live within 1.5 hours of where the dog is being fostered We're excited to introduce you to a charming little white and black Chihuahua who recently joined us from a shelter in Riverside, California. We were quite surprised that this tiny fellow, weighing only about 4 1/2 to 5 pounds, hadn't found his forever home sooner, perhaps simply due to his small size. Upon picking him up, we learned his shelter name was Cracker, which we felt deserved a bit of an upgrade. During the car ride back, as music by Carlos Santana played, immediately followed by Tito Fuentes, his new name became clear: Carlos. He's no longer Cracker! We also welcomed another dog impounded the same day, now named Tito (formerly Tater), so our former Tater and Cracker are now Carlos and Tito! Carlos is quite the character. Despite his small stature, he carries himself with the confidence of an Irish Wolfhound, often playfully teasing larger dogs. When they decide to engage in a chase, he takes off yelping dramatically, as if in grave danger. He's a surprisingly swift little guy and will quickly dart into the nearest small space to escape once he's had his fun. We have a feeling that if you could peek inside his hiding spot, you'd find him cheekily sticking his tongue out at whoever was chasing him! He's generally a well-behaved dog, though he can be a little vocal at times. Carlos is mostly house-trained but will benefit from a bit of patience and consistency in a new environment. It's important to remember that even house-trained dogs need time to adjust to a new routine and schedule, so there might be a few accidents initially. He enjoys short outings every couple of hours to bask in the sun before coming back inside. Carlos truly loves to be near his people, whether it's sitting contentedly beside them or snuggling up for some lap time. However, he isn't overly dependent or a "Velcro" dog. He would be a wonderful companion for someone looking for a small dog to share cuddles, belly rubs, and lots of affection with. If you think Carlos might be the perfect new member of your family, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us. Www.gunterslegacy.org ##2163183##

Bell is a 5-pound nugget filled with love and cuddles. She came to us as an owner surrender along with 3 siblings. Unfortunately, Bell has a grade 6 heart murmur and is in congestive heart failure. However, this does not stop her from enjoying her life. She is great with other dogs and cats and loves people. Bell enjoys sleeping in the sun and wandering around the yard. ##2359023##
