Story
FOSTERED IN: Oak Forest, IL 60452 ESTIMATED DOB: 2017 WEIGHT: 8 lbs KIDS: Visitors Only DOGS: Yes, Calm Only CATS: Unknown HISTORY: Pickles came to us from an Animal Control Facility. ABOUT: Pickles is a special little girl who will need a very special adopter who is willing to manage her heart condition. (See more below) Pickles is such a sweet little girl. She can be a little apprehensive of new people at first but after a few moments she wants everyone to give her love and attention. Pickles has a special affinity for men! Pickles will bring love and joy to any home that adopts her. Pickles is housetrained, does well in the car, and walks well on leash. She is generally very quiet and only barks at normal dog things like the doorbell or an unusual/loud noise. She is crated in her foster home and does very well. She actually spent most of her time in her crate the first few days, so she does appreciate having a safe place to call her own. Her foster home said she is such a good, easy dog. Her foster said it is hard to remember she is sick because she is so happy and full of life. Pickles does well with other dogs, but can only be placed with calm dogs who will not encourage excessive activity from her. We also think Pickles will be best served in a calm, adult-only home due to her medical needs and restrictions. She will likely be fine with gentle child visitors. Pickles has a congenital disease called Reverse Shunting Patent Ductus Arteriosus. Her life expectancy was listed as 1-24 months on her cardiology report, but because she responded to the medication well, we are hopeful she will have a longer life span. Her foster home said the medication made a noticeable difference. Pickles is already quite the survivor at 6 years old! Her cardiology report states that ⅔ of dogs with her condition do not survive past 1 year. Pickles will need an adopter committed to her medication regimen as she receives 5 different medications. The cost of her medications is approximately $80-90/month. Her food also needs to be specific due to elevated kidney levels. She is currently doing well on Purina Pro Plan dry. Pickles is also to remain on an exercise restricted life, she should avoid heavy activity, a lot of excitement, and temperature extremes. Her adopter will need to expect to keep up with regular veterinary visits including potential future cardiology appointments if/as needed. Pickles is not spayed, and cannot be safely sedated for the surgery. Her heat cycles will need to be carefully managed. If you think you have the room in your heart and home for this special-needs girl, more information on our adoption process and our adoption application can be found at www.luluslockerrescue.org.

Story
Hi there my name is Huey and I am a Chihuahua/Schnauzer/Terrier mix about 7 years old. I have been in the rescue for quite some time as it takes me a little time to trust people. I was abused in my past so on my initial meet and greets with new people I am unsure and sudden movements make me scared. Once I get to know you and trust you you can't get rid of me. Once we are BFFs, I am the most loyal, fun, sassy and most of all cuddly friend. I am looking for my forever home with somebody who is either a stay at home, work from home, or retired as I like to be with my people as much as possible. I am completely up to date on my vetting which includes neutered, rabies vaccine, distemper vaccine, bordetella, negative fecal, negative heartworm, and microchipped. If interested in meeting me please go to the rescue's website www.atailof4paws.org and fill out the application. Once completed email or scan to rescue@atailof4paws.org

Story
Bean is an adorable 4.2 lb gent, who is guessed to be around 12 years old. He is a sweet boy who gets along with other dogs. He does have accidents in the house pretty regularly, but he doesn't object to wearing a belly band, if needed. Bean recently was neutered and had an extensive dental, which included 25 extractions, but he still eats fine. Bean's adoption donation of $300 helps cover the cost of his medical care.   Application, reference checks, and home visit required. Adopters must live 1.5 hours driving distance from Romeoville, IL. For more information on adopting, please email us at info@perfectpooches.org. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application, which can be found on our website at www.perfectpooches.org under the Adoption Process tab. All dogs are spayed/neutered, current on vaccines, heartworm tested (age appropriate), fecal tested and/or dewormed, and microchipped.

Story
Meet Juju (Juniper)! She is a sweet mixed breed lady who came to us from Animal Rescue Corps where she was rescued from a dog hoarding situation. She is guessed to have been born around 2015/2016 and weighs 11 lbs. Despite her past, she is very friendly and well-adjusted and even has done spectacular with her potty training. Her favorite thing to do is cuddle and sleep, especially with her human foster brother. She came to us with a horrible skin infection and missing a lot of hair, but slowly her skin is cleared up and her hair is slowly growing in. She does have one eye that doesn't produce enough tears (dry-eye) and she will need eye medication for life in that eye in the form of prescription drops and OTC lubricating gel. Very easy to manage. Juju was spayed, had a dental with extractions, and also had some mammary masses removed. The masses were carcinoma, but they were completely removed with clear margins and a low chance of recurrence. We would like to see her adopted with Marley who is another dog she came with from the same hoarding situation. They really do spend all their time together and just love each other. They both like to climb like little mountain goats- so their new home should be one that allows dogs on furniture. Juju's adoption donation of $500 (for the pair) helps cover the cost of her medical care. Application, reference checks, and home visit required. Adopters must live 1.5 hours driving distance from Romeoville, IL. For more information on adopting, please email us at info@perfectpooches.org. Story
You know you are full of personality when you earn a name like Senor Peanut. I mean, seriously. Senor. Peanut. Come on now. That is doggie name GOLD. But you know what? He deserves it, because HE is gold. Our little dude is a great dog. (We may be partial, we know. Just look at that face though, right?) Senor Peanut is a super sweet guy. No matter the activity, he’s happy to tag along. Going for a leisurely stroll? Okay! They’re his fave! Running some errands in the car? He’s down! And actually loves car rides. Planning a chill night on the couch watching tv? Perfect! He’ll sit with you and enjoy your pets. But, let’s not forget that he is a chihuahua and if you know chihuahua’s, you know they are confident and not ashamed to be themselves. Yup, that's our guy too. He’s not crazy about being picked up or excessive snuggles. He does get along with other dogs, however, but can happily exist as an only dog, as well. He is potty and crate trained. The adoption donation for Senor Peanut is $300. This fee helps to cover veterinary expenses including spay/neuter, microchip and vaccinations. Wish Upon a Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit, foster based animal rescue. If you would like to meet Peanut, please complete our adoption questionnaire at www.wishuponarescue.org/adopt. We will review your responses and be in contact to schedule a meet and greet at a time and place convenient for your family and our team members. March 15, 2024, 12:10 am
