This bandit-faced, 15-pound little man is Coco, and his best friend is Mya! They are hoping to find a family who will adopt them as a pair! Coco is about seven years old and is neutered. Mya is about three and a half years old and is spayed. They needed our help in finding them another family as their previous owner's health declined. We work hard to give pets second chances and we are hoping to be able to help Coco and Mya start a new chapter soon. Coco is a shy fellow when people are new to him. Once people aren't so new, he isn't so shy anymore! We're asking that you give Coco extra time to get to know you; maybe come back for a second visit so he can get to know you as a friend. Mya is more reserved than Coco and more than likely will also need more than one meeting to get to know you. We do ask that anyone interested gives her time and moves at her pace. Mya would love nothing more than a home where their owner is home often and likes to snuggle. Mya is a Velcro-pup through and through and once she finds arms to curl in, she is reluctant to leave them! We have seen her try with all her little might to hold onto those who she trusts when it is time for her to get down so we can get work done! Mya is perfectly content to be a lap dog and cuddle as much as she can. We love Coco's energy. When he has adjusted to his surroundings, he is so silly and fun to be around! He likes to run around and chase squeaky toys! He is so very entertaining to hang out with. He loves to go on walkies, too! We highly suggest a collar/harness that he cannot back out of because Coco has been known to escape a time or two! We loved seeing both sweethearts learn to trust and come out of their shell. We know with the right, patient adopter that they will continue to shine! Kiddos should be a bit older, maybe 9ish and up, and we will observe their behavior around cats and give you an update. If you have another welcoming dog who needs two adorable fursiblings, come by MHS to meet Coco and Mya!

Story
My name is Flintstone, and I am the sweetest! My foster family calls me a "Velcro dog" as I love being near my humans. I do enjoy my naps and once in a while, I'll just kind of hang out in my crate, but most of the time I like to be around people. I am very active and I would say my energy level is about an eight out of 1-10. I'm not destructive, but I am working on my house training. Each day I'm getting a little better and my foster mom is helping me with this. I am more of a marker than a dog who can't hold his bladder so once I am neutered (appointment is Dec 1st!), this should improve. (Me and foster mom have done our research.)Right now I live with another dog and I am learning his boundaries. He gave me a warning nip the other day and I didn't fight back so I'm really not a fighter. And we enjoy each other's company. I also live with two cats that I'm nice to, but once in a while, I just can't help myself, I have to chase them. Luckily I just chase & have never hurt them. Oh! And the one Chihuahua trait I don't seem to have is barking very much. I only get vocal when my people leave the house or if they go downstairs when we're home together.I could keep going, but it's better to talk face-to-face. Hi Everyone! My name is Gurnee and I am an adult, short-hair chihuahua mix. I am good with other dogs, but have yet to be tested with cats and children. I am still learning how to be completely housebroken, as I came from a hoarding situation, and it really didn't matter when or where I did my business. My foster mom says that I am already 70% there and I will use the pee pads when I can. I am crate trained as well. I can definitely be left alone if need be, and so far my limit has been 6 hours. I have a favorite small squeaking elephant and pig toy that will keep me company. I love car rides so my foster mom takes me with her when she can. I am not too good walking on a leash because that is a brand-new concept to me. Again, with time, I think I could get better. Believe it or not, I love to play fetch! My energy level is at the medium level and although a fenced in yard is not required, I would love to run free in the back yard! I'm working on some basic commands. I do know what biscuit or treat means (lucky for me)! I love giving kisses and sleeping in my foster mom's bed at night. We do need to get adequate exercise, but we do not need a fenced in yard, although that would be awesome.
