Anne Bonny (AB) is guessed to be about 5 years old and weighs around 8 lbs. She came to us from Texas where she had been found with a large number of dogs in an abandoned house. We believe she did not have much human contact in her formative years and therefore has an extreme fear of handling. She is a very special girl who will need a very special home. AB is very shut down and scared. She will hide and tries to avoid contact- it is heartbreaking. She doesn't seem to have a mean or aggressive bone in her body, but due to her level of fear we recommend a very slow approach and taking time with her to prevent her from feeling in a position where she is in flight or fight and cannot flee. She has no reaction to the cats or dogs in the foster home, so we think she could co-exist fine with either. AB has been started on fluoxetine to try and help with her fear. We think she would do best in a quiet home without much activity or new people. She needs a patient person who will accept her as she is, but be willing to work with her to help her gain confidence and comfort with human contact. ABs adoption donation of $250 helps cover the cost of her vet care (spay, microchip, bloodwork). Adopters must live within a 1 hour driving distance from Romeoville, IL. Reference checks, vet checks, and home visits required. We do not do same-day adoptions. Email us with any questions info@perfectpooches.org. Meet Sprite! This little guy is just a little love. He is guessed to be about 8 years old and weighs 10 lb. He is overweight and we have him on a diet. He does have bilateral grade 4 luxating patellas, but the vet determined surgery was not necessary at this time as he is currently getting around well and using both legs. Maintaining him at a healthy weight will be critical in keeping his knees in the best shape as possible. He also has some lameness on his front right leg, due to undetermined reasons. He is currently not able to do stairs or jump, so he will need to be carried. We are hoping once he gets to his ideal weight he will be able to work on this, but for now, adopters should be prepared to carry him. His liver values were elevated on his bloodwork, so he is currently on some liver supplements and we will recheck his bloodwork about 6-8 weeks after starting the supplement. He is a really sweet boy who loves tummy rubs and enjoys attention. He gets along with other dogs his size and cats. We think he would love a home where he can get a lot of attention, but one that isn’t too active or busy. Sprite's adoption donation of $395 helps cover the cost of his medical care. Adopters must live within a 1 hour driving distance from Romeoville, IL. Reference checks, vet checks, and home visits required. We do not do same-day adoptions. Hi there, my name is Huey, and I am a Chihuahua/Schnauzer/Terrier mix about 7 years old. I have been in the rescue for quite some time as it takes me a little time to trust people. I was abused in my past so on my initial meet and greets with new people I am unsure, and sudden movements make me scared and I get barky and growly. Once I get to know you and trust you can't get rid of me, I am looking for someone that understands it takes time for trust and won't push. Once we are BFFs, I am the most loyal, fun, sassy and most of all cuddly friend. I am looking for my forever home with somebody who is either a stay at home, work from home, or retired as I like to be with my people as much as possible. I am completely up to date on my vetting which includes neutered, rabies vaccine, distemper vaccine, Bordetella, negative fecal, negative heartworm, and microchipped. My ideal home would be with a fenced yard, and no other dogs. Meet Mildred! She came to us from Animal Rescue Corps (Operation Tiny Titans) after they rescued her from a hoarding situation. She was in pretty rough shape- very emaciated, furless from flea bite dermatitis, and muscles wasted. Her fur has started growing in nicely and she is becoming more and more mobile as the days go on. She started her healing journey with us, but we think she is ready to move forward to her next chapter- healing in a home of her very own where she will get spoiled rotten and slathered with love. Mildred has started seeking out more attention from people. She was kind of withdrawn when she first arrived, but she is coming out of her shell and learning what it means to be loved and cuddled. Mildred is guesstimated to be around 15 years old, but the age estimate isn’t an exact science and with the condition she was in it makes it even more difficult. She weighs under 4 lbs, but she is still underweight. Mildred still needs to be spayed and have a dental, but we have not felt she is at the ideal body condition for surgery. Her mobility isn’t fantastic, but she is able to get around pretty well. She is on a daily dose of gabapentin, which has definitely helped with her mobility. She loves her time sniffing and exploring in the yard (weather permitting). She does well going to the bathroom outside but will also go inside – sometimes on the pads and sometimes not. We are looking for an amazing retirement home for her without much commotion and with another small dog that can keep her company. Her and Eliza (another dog from the same home we got) like to cuddle in bed together. While we don’t believe they are bonded, they definitely like the company of another dog. If you are open to 2 dog- we think Eliza and Mildred would do great together. Mildred’s adoption donation of $250 helps cover the cost of her medical care. If you wish to adopt Mildred and Eliza together, their combined adoption fee will be reduced to $450. Adopters must live within a 1 hour driving distance from Romeoville, IL.
