Harry is a 10 year old, 5 lbs. Chihuahua. He is low key for a Chihuahua. He does well with children even toddlers if they go slow at first. He isn’t a lap dog, but does want to be close to you. He has a sweet disposition and was easy to integrate with dogs and cats. To adopt Harry, please apply at www.htxdogrescue.org.

Story
If you’re looking for a mellow companion to share the couch with, Giovanni is your guy! This sweet senior spends his days lounging, happily chewing on his favorite treats, and keeping a watchful eye out to let you know when strangers are nearby. He’s ready to spend his golden years with a loving family who will give him the comfort and companionship he deserves. Giovanni may sound brave with his bark, but underneath it all, he’s a sensitive and anxious little soul. He’ll need a few days of patience and reassurance to settle in and feel safe with new people. Crates aren’t his thing—he tends to get anxious in them and may have accidents. Instead, he does best when left in a secure room with access to pee pads (he’s been sharing a bedroom with another dog and doing well!). While he may have accidents at first in a new environment due to nerves, once he feels at home and trusts his people, he does much better. Giovanni isn’t perfect, but his gentle spirit, loyalty, and love for simply being by your side make him the perfect match for someone who wants a laid-back, devoted companion. Apply to adopt Giovanni at www.htxdogrescue.org.

LOVES TO CUDDLE WITH HIS HOOMANS  DOB 5/25/23, weight 12.5 pounds Hey there, everyone! I’m Polo, and I’m a sweet, friendly, and affectionate tricolor Chihuahua mix fella who has the cutest white blaze on my forehead! I do best with lots of close family contact. Wouldn’t you know that cuddling in Foster Mom’s lap is my favorite spot and where I require plenty of quality time? I adore playing with the small dogs in my foster home, and I get along great with the resident cats and with kids. My size makes me an ideal apartment dog, but I relish my daily exercise. Nothing makes me happier than for Foster Mom to invest her time and energy into treating me like a big dog. I make it easy for her because I already walk well on a leash. True confessions: I’m still working on getting housebroken and kennel-trained. I was found with my best friend Paco on the side of the highway. If we were “dumped,” I’ll never tell! Thank heavens a Good Samaritan stopped and scooped us up because I’m much too small to fend for myself. I was so grateful to be welcomed into my foster home, but I’m now ready to bring my high cuteness factor and loving personality to my forever home. Could that be with you? Then arrange to meet me today! I promise to leave itsy-bitsy paw prints all over your heart. Although we’re available separately, Paco and I think it’d be the cat’s meow if we were adopted together. Two’s better than one, and we could keep each other company while you’re at work or on vacation. HOPE ID D25-0608-0031 Polo’s $200 adoption fee includes spay/neuter, basic vaccines, microchip and registration, testing for heartworms, negative fecal test, and preventative treatment for heartworms and fleas. Online application: http://www.homelesspets.net/adoption-forms/dog-adoption.php If you have questions prior to filling out the application or want to find out which adoption site Polo will be this week-end, email us at lisagilchrist16@gmail.com ,  and a volunteer will get back to you. ALL WARM WIGGLES AND WAGS  DOB 6/29/23, weight 10 lb. Hey there, everyone! I’m Lilly, a sweet, friendly, and affectionate chestnut and black Chihuahua mix gal who became homeless when my owners were deported. My buddy Luis and I wandered around for days before a Good Samaritan rescued us from the mean streets of Houston. When I first arrived in my foster home, I was a little shy because I’m fearful of new situations. However, once I started feeling comfy here, I became all warm wiggles and wags. I do best with lots of close family contact. Wouldn’t you know that cuddling in Foster Mom’s lap is my favorite spot and where I require plenty of quality time? I adore playing with the small dogs in my foster home, and I get along great with the resident cats; however, the foster kittens annoy me, and the large dogs scare me. My size makes me an ideal apartment dog, but I relish my daily exercise. Nothing makes me happier than for Foster Mom to invest her time and energy into treating me like a big dog. I make it easy for her because I already walk well on a leash. Plus I’m kennel-trained. Now I’m ready to bring my happy and adoring self to bless my new forever family. Could that be with you? Then arrange to meet me today! I promise to leave itsy-bitsy paw prints all over your heart. Although we're available separately, Luis and I love the idea of being adopted together. That way we can be playmates and cuddle buddies while you're at work or on vacation. HOPE ID D25-0918-0039 Lilly’s $200 adoption fee includes spay/neuter, basic vaccines, microchip and registration, testing for heartworms, negative fecal test, and preventative treatment for heartworms and fleas. Story
Meet Nelson, also affectionately called “Willie Nelson” by his foster. Believed to be a Chihuahua and Yorkie mix, Nelson is a handsome 14 lb gentleman, estimated to be around 2 years old. His striking beige face, tufted ears, and black-and-white coat are as distinctive as his personality. Nelson is a loyal and affectionate companion once he has built trust, a process that takes patience but rewards with a dog who loves nothing more than being in your lap and accepting belly rubs. He is crate trained and has made big strides in his house training. Nelson is working on his confidence, leash skills, and recall with his foster. He is hesitant around men and should not be around small children, as he may snap when unsure or scared. He does not like cats and would need a very slow, supervised introduction to a resident dog. Nelson comes with a slow feeder, as he tends to gulp his food, and he benefits from a consistent routine for feeding and potty breaks. This sweet, cute mix is ready for a calm, cat-free, adult-only home where he can be your devoted shadow.Nelson is located in Houston, Texas. Transport to most states is available for an additional fee of $300.
