She is attached to humans by nature; loves tummy rubs and giving kisses, even around strangers. She could be a little shy when approached by strangers, but would not take long for her to respond passionately. She is friendly to adults and children alike; shares food and toys with other dogs, and never engage in fight with other dogs; very well behaved, not a chewer or barker; also enjoys her daily walks and car-ride. Becca is obedient and enjoys being around people, will surely make a great companion pet. Becca’s rescue story: Becca was rescued out from a ditch by the volunteer on her daily walk. Becca’s seven siblings were also found nearby. Because that area is an industrial park, banked by a storm drain, with heavy trucks in and out all the time, hardly an environment where young puppies can survive! Therefore, the volunteer posted a plea for adoption on line for these vulnerable puppies. The rescuer responded and placed the puppies with foster families while start preparing them for their forever homes. Story
Meet Balton — a gentle, 2-year-old Collie mix with a heart full of love just waiting to be discovered. Found stray in the Central Valley, Balton came to us a little unsure of the world, but every day he’s blooming into the sweet, affectionate dog he was meant to be. Balton is timid with new people at first, but once he feels safe, his big, tender heart shines through. He forms deep bonds and loves quietly and completely — a true loyal companion in the making. He’s wonderful with other dogs, and during a recent sleepover he did amazingly well with cats, too! This boy has a calm, gentle energy that makes him easy to be around and so rewarding to love. Balton is ready for a patient, kind home that will give him the time and reassurance he needs to fully settle in. In return, he’ll give you the sweetest trust, devotion, and companionship. If you believe in underdogs and love watching them blossom… Balton is your boy. 💛🐾

Story
I am in a foster home and not at the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, submit an adoption questionnaire by email. Learn more hereAt just 1 year old and 40 pounds, Carmine is a great mix of playful pup and gentle soul. He's shy at first, but once he feels safe, you’ll quickly discover the sweetest, most loving companion. Carmine's foster family reports he's always ready for snuggles, playtime, or showing off new tricks. On walks, Carmine can be a little too excited, but with guidance and patience, he’s eager to keep learning and growing. He's crate-trained, potty trained, sleeps through the night, and is content hanging out solo for a few hours—calm, cool, and collected when it matters most. Carmine has come a long way on his journey and is still building his confidence. Treats (his love language!) and gentle encouragement go a long way. He’ll thrive in a patient, loving home with positive reinforcement and a resident canine sibling to help show him the ropes. Carmine is ready to find his person, someone who sees his potential and can give him the safe, supportive home he deserves. Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog H:13Daphne – The Playful Ball-Loving Sweetheart Meet Daphne, a 1-year-old Border Collie / Husky mix weighing 47 pounds, with a playful spirit, and a big soft spot for affection. She’s the kind of girl who can happily switch between action and cuddles without missing a beat. Fetch enthusiast: Daphne loves balls, happily bringing one back in exchange for the next throw. Affection seeker: Once she settles, Daphne leans right in for love — offering face kisses, licking hands, and pressing close for connection. Smart and treat-motivated: She responds well to “sit” and is very treat motivated, though she’s still polishing her treat-taking manners. Active walking buddy: Daphne sniffs enthusiastically on walks and may pull moderately at times, but remains manageable. Dog-social: She attends doggie playgroup and enjoys playful chase with other dogs. Daphne is a joyful mix of playful athlete and loving companion. She’d do well with a well-matched canine friend or as a solo dog with social doggie pals.January 7, 2026, 12:17 am
