Story
Meet Bohemian! Bohemian is a bright and loving 4-month-old pup who’s ready to find his forever home! This little guy is the perfect blend of playful and cuddly—he’ll happily trot around on a walk, sniffing the world with curiosity, and then curl up on your lap for some snuggles and belly rubs. He truly lives for affection and companionship. Bohemian is crate trained and sleeps soundly through the night. He’s also doing great with potty training—he’s pee pad trained and has completely mastered going outside. He’s even starting to get the hang of using training bells—smart boy! He’s proven he can handle being in his crate for a few hours while you run errands, and he’s always excited to see you when you return. Bohemian would thrive in a home where he gets lots of love, continued training, and plenty of playtime. Whether you’re going for walks or enjoying quiet moments on the couch, Bohemian’s sweet nature makes him the perfect addition to your family. If you're looking for a loyal, loving pup to grow with, Bohemian might just be your perfect match. Come meet this special boy today! Bohemian is currently being fostered in Manhattan, NY. His adoption fee is $550. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Bailey - 6 years and 40lbs, Rough Collie, Spayed - Needs to gain weight, underweight - Special Needs - Epileptic!  This is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. Our Team Says: "Bailey is a wondeful girl. She is Epileptic. Currently on Keppra twice a day. This dog would do best in a home outside of the city or in a calm part of the city. The breed can be sensitive. Currently being fostered in NJ." Thier Foster Parent Says: "Bailey is a sweet and gentle pup. Shy and afraid in the beginning. She wasn't previously trained but is VERY smart so training her has been pretty easy. She mostly needs leash training. She doesn't go potty on leash AT ALL: but will go potty off leash!  She's QUIET. She doesn't like to be pet at first. Pulls away. But eventually she likes it and asks for more. She does well with dogs and children. She has a lot of energy so she needs an active lifestyle. She does this very cute dance when she's excited for treats, and there's this super cute thing about her is that the tip of her tongue is always sticking out a bit. Overall she's a pleasure to have both for my dog and myself. I have a feeling that she's going to be adopted as soon as you post her on your socials!" Level of dog ownership experience needed:INTERMEDIATE: This dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Energy levelMEDIUM: Needs a daily 60-90 minute walk or window of quick paced exercise (minimum) in addition to potty break strolls (10-30 min each). Also needs significant socializing opportunities outside the home and mental stimulation at home like tricks training practice, chew items, and puzzle toys. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  Cuddle Bug Level- Low (at first)  Potty Trained- does her business off leash no problem  Comfy with strangers - takes a minute to warm up  Good with children - Yes for 12 and up. She is playful like a puppy so I wouldnt leave her alone with a toddler.  Good with other dogs- YES. She loves to meet other dogs. Good with other animals?- not sure  Mouthy Behavior- Low Leash manners- Getting the hang of it Okay in the City?-  Doing okay in NJ. Wouldn't be a fit for a super busy part of the city.  Jumping on people to say hi- Low Separation Anxiety -  Low Crate Training- Yes, crate trained Medical statusShe is Epileptic. Currently on Keppra twice a day.  Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm negative; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake How this dog ended up with Social Tees:Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee, Puerto Rico or Southern California. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses though!  This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. Story
Riley, thought to be born in January or February of 2015 is a tricolor, smooth coat collie/border collie mix with some brindle markings on his legs. He has experienced 2 failed adoptions. He was adopted from us when he was about 6 months old and was returned to us 3 years later when the male member of the adoptive family, who had Alzheimer’s, became abusive toward him. In time he began developing his self-confidence again and began to lose his fear of men. Even though he was still somewhat leery of men he didn’t know, he would actually seek attention from men with whom he was familiar. He got along well with the dogs in his foster home but he behaved aggressively toward any new foster dog that periodically come in. He is not good with cats as he showed aggression toward the clinic cat at our vet’s office. Riley was adopted a second time, but after a year of trying different techniques to manage Riley’s difficult behaviors his second adopter felt that she could no longer handle him and once again Riley was returned to us. He left us weighing 55 pounds and returned, markedly overweight, at 78 pounds. He is now back to a healthy weight. Riley has had extensive training. He is quite smart and learns quickly. He rides well in a car and walks well on a leash unless he meets a dog while out on the walk, in which case he will pull and act aggressively. Riley is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, is heartworm negative and is being kept on heartworm and flea and tick prevention to maintain his good health. Riley is currently in Arkansas. His adoption donation is $415 which includes the $165 transport fee. If you would like to adopt Riley, the first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. After you submit your application, please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in

Meet Moonstone, a 2-year-old Collie mix with a heart as gentle as his quiet nature. Story
This is Denver! Hes a sweet, smart, 1-year-old pup we adopted 8 weeks ago, but he's not the right fit for our home- mainly because of our cats. He's not aggressive, just very eager to play, and they're not having it. Denver is affectionate, highly trainable, and loves being near his people. He's not a couch potato he needs daily activity and would do best with a yard and ideally another dog. He's very submissive in pack dynamics, so he may pair well with a shy or gentle friend. He's house-trained, sleeps through the night, walks well on leash, but has some mild separation anxiety that's been improving with time and structure. He's allergic to chicken but does great on his current food. He came from a neglectful home before us, and we want to make sure his next one is a stable, loving match. Were happy to provide his food, gear, and toys to help him settle in. If you've got the time, space, and maybe a dog buddy, Denver could be a perfect addition to your family.
