Story
Meet Zuko, the charming collie mix who has brought immeasurable joy to my life as a pandemic puppy. However, due to the demands of my new job, I sadly find myself unable to provide him with the life he truly deserves. At 4 and 55 lbs, Zuko is a handsome and affectionate companion. He was rescued from Texas and is already neutered and chipped. Zukos favorite pastimes include cuddling with his humans, gazing out the window, running at the beach, and going on hikes. If you want to witness pure joy, unleash Zuko at the beach and watch as he glances back at you with his tongue out in bewildered excitement before taking off. While he may not be the biggest fan of swimming or rain, he looks adorable in a raincoat and is always up for playtime in the snow. Zuko loves food. He's highly motivated by treats, especially frozen peanut butter. He gets along well with other dogs, but I am unsure about his compatibility with cats. He can be reactive, especially to strollers and e-scooters.

Story
Riley, thought to be born in January or February of 2015 is a tricolor, smooth coat collie/border collie mix with some brindle markings on his legs. He has experienced 2 failed adoptions. He was adopted from us when he was about 6 months old and was returned to us 3 years later when the male member of the adoptive family, who had Alzheimer’s, became abusive toward him. In time he began developing his self-confidence again and began to lose his fear of men. Even though he was still somewhat leery of men he didn’t know, he would actually seek attention from men with whom he was familiar. He got along well with the dogs in his foster home but he behaved aggressively toward any new foster dog that periodically come in. He is not good with cats as he showed aggression toward the clinic cat at our vet’s office. Riley was adopted a second time, but after a year of trying different techniques to manage Riley’s difficult behaviors his second adopter felt that she could no longer handle him and once again Riley was returned to us. He left us weighing 55 pounds and returned, markedly overweight, at 78 pounds. He is now back to a healthy weight. Riley has had extensive training. He is quite smart and learns quickly. He rides well in a car and walks well on a leash unless he meets a dog while out on the walk, in which case he will pull and act aggressively. Riley is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, is heartworm negative and is being kept on heartworm and flea and tick prevention to maintain his good health. Riley is currently in Arkansas. His adoption donation is $415 which includes the $165 transport fee. If you would like to adopt Riley, the first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. After you submit your application, please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. MAGGIE-Pierce was saved from a kill shelter in Georgia and arrived at Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 5 April 2024.  Maggie-Pierce is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives and is microchipped with 24PetWatch. She has an estimated date of birth of 4 November 2023 and in April 2024 weighed of 20 pounds. We have no way of knowing the breed, it is up to individuals to look at the pictures and videos to make up their own mind. This sweet girl is still a baby and so we are looking for families who understand how much work puppies are, who are able to ensure she gets all the socialization she needs, the training, routine and structure to give her the right start to her wonderful life ahead of her. Maggie-P is in a kennel with several other pups similar in age, some bigger, some smaller and she is having a great time playing and wrestling most of the day, when of course they are not snuggled up in a big puppy pile dreaming of their forever families and future lives full of adventure ahead of them. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue    YouTube channel   and    photo albums on our Facebook page   t o see a LOT of pictures and videos. We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks. Maggie-Pierce is located at the rescue in Sebec Maine and is available for a  reduced adoption  fee of $550. Interested families are required to complete our application process and once approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Our process takes 1-2 days as long as we are able to talk to references, so be prepared to be approved (hopefully) to adopt within a few days of submitting the adoption application. https://giveadogahome-rescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=5838 HOUSE TRAINED - All of our dogs are located in the kennel building so we are not able to say if a dog is house-trained, however, they do have access and use the dog door to access their run, play area 24/7. FOOD - We feed a variety of high quality brands and flavors including, chicken, turkey, beef, lamb and fish generally alternated daily. CATS - We do not have cats in the kennels and are not able to say how our dogs are with cats. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Bella (AL) is a female Collie mix estimated to be 18 months of age at time of rescue from AL in March 2023. She weighed 26 pounds at that time. Bella is good with people and other dogs, is up to date on core vaccines, has been spayed, and is microchipped. Bella is the perfect lady with beautiful black fur, no chewing, no excessive barking, just excessive snuggles and kisses. She is also intelligent and affectionate, and her favorite pastime is being hugged and petted. Bella would love a home where her people will spend lots of time loving on her. Bella would also love a fenced in backyard or a home with people who can take her on long walks throughout the day.  This beautiful girl l ikes her crate and will quietly hang out there when needed.   Bella is smart, well-behaved and such a love.  She's good with other dogs but would do best in a home with older children who can respect boundaries. Bella is a great dog who will be a wonderfully loving addition to her forever family. If you would like Bella to be the addition to your family, please apply online to adopt Bella (AL) at www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org.  ********************* RDR's adoption fees include the cost of spay/neuter/microchip at an RDR-approved facility, whether completed before adoption or if deferred because the pet is too young or has a medical issue.  All pets are also current on age-appropriate vaccines at the time of adoption. Story
ALL our cats and dogs are in the NY area but can be adopted out of state to the purrfect furever home.  In some cases, we can help transport.  Zani's al fresco Summer Adoptions  follow us on FB to find us this summer as we will try new locations to meet the needs of NYC and support the little stores:)     Meet Rain, a 15-month-old medium-sized mixed breed sweetheart rescued from Puerto Rico. Rain has been through a lot in her short life, but you’d never know it. She has the tenacity, spirit, and spunk of a happy girl. She is sweet, intelligent, and knows basic commands. She would do best in a home with a fenced-in backyard where she can run, play, and explore. Good with other dogs? Yes. Good with cats? Unknown. Quirks or fears? Afraid of loud sounds and traffic. Needs positive reinforcement, love, and patience. Housetrained? Yes. Crate-trained? Yes, she has been sleeping in a crate at night. Health problems? No known health issues. Activity level? High. She likes to play nip. Plays with toys? Yes, but do not give her cheap toys, toys that can break, or chews that she can break and swallow. Car travel? Very good in the car and no car sickness. And check out her heart-shaped nose and oh-so-adorable RCA dog appearance.     .All dogs are located in NY/NJ area All our puppies need puppy play dates/doggy facetime so we recommend homes with other pups or daily interactions to keep them tired out, happy and social.     Facebook: Zani's Furry Friends ZFF (weekly adoption event info posted there) Twitter: zanisff  Instagram: zanisfurryfriends   Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD on age appropriate vaccines, Rabies vaxed, and microchipped (not Lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it!)  All are in the NY/NJ area but we will adopt out of state to the purrfect home and in some cases, we can arrange transport.  Please go to our site  https://zanisfurryfriends.org  fill out an application  Many of us (cats/dogs) will be on display on Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent--please ask by writing us at dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org and following us on FB. If you are seriously interested in adopting one of us in particular, please fill out an application early Friday so that we can be sure to be there. Otherwise we decide based on other variables. Usually we are in our foster homes so this is a bit more stressful and a slightly artificial environment but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes too.   Please consider providing a home for more than one dog, especially if you are considering adopting a puppy. Dogs are pack animals and very much enjoy as well as need other dog company to learn to play, socialize and be good companion animals to people. The upside to this is that you won't feel as guilty leaving them alone and you get twice the love. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer, and you can always donate! If you want to know about cats/dogs specifically being shown at our adoption locations, please email us info@zanisfurryfriends.org closer to the date so we know your interest and will make every effort to have that pet at the event or let you know how and where you can meet.  It is extemely helpful and speeds up adoption if the application is filled out prior to visiting us so please do that before coming to our weekend events. Our weekend locations are: Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent  Follow us on FB, Zani's Furry Friends ZFF, for latest updates. Usually we are in our foster homes so all this is a bit more stressful but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer. And you can always donate:) Cats and Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD w/ all age appropriate shots and microchipped. Cats are feline combo tested for FIV/FeLV; dogs are heartworm tested and rabies vax'd, (NOT lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it); rabbits are spayed/neutered. Please fill out an application and email to: For Cats: cats@zanisfurryfriends.org For Dogs: dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org For Rabbits: nyc.acc.rabbits@gmail.com. Please visit our website zanisfurryfriends.org.
