Story
FENCE REQUIRED Zane came into the world with dust on the wind and a restless spark in his bones, the kind of spirit that always sees the good in life. At nine months, he is all legs and motion, a tri-colored rough Collie with a coat that caught the light like the wide-open plains at sunrise. There is a little mischief in him, sure enough—something a little wild and untested—but that’s the way of young things meant for bigger horizons. He rides close to his people, not by saddle but by instinct, keeping watch with bright eyes and a heart that knew loyalty before it knew caution. When the trail bends long and the day wears thin, Zane is there, trotting ahead as if the land itself had whispered directions only he could hear. And when night settles in, he stays near, a quiet presence wrapped in fur and warmth, as steady as a campfire glow. Folks might say he is a little zany, and they wouldn’t be wrong. But beneath that restless energy is something finer—a dog ready to grow into his place, ready to carve his mark alongside the ones he trusts. Out on the range, where the world stretches wide and unforgiving, there’s no room for anything but truth. And Zane, for all his youth and foolish bursts of energy, is as true as they come. He isn't finished yet, but you can see it in the way he stands against the horizon, ears high, eyes forward. He is going to be something worth remembering. This is one special boy! If Zane strikes your fancy and you are ready to help him continue to be the best Collie citizen ever, please fill out an adoption application today! Don't wait! Story
PHYSICAL FENCE REQUIRED If you’re looking for a 3-year old dog with personality, Hunter has plenty of it! This handsome boy is full of enthusiasm and approaches life with excitement and energy. Whether he’s playing, exploring, or simply telling you what’s on his mind, Hunter always keeps things interesting. Hunter is housebroken and has already learned the command “sit.” He’s currently working on “shake” and would thrive with continued training and structure. Like many young, energetic dogs, he could benefit from obedience classes to help him become the very best version of himself. Hunter gets along well with other dogs, especially those closer to his own size. Because of his play style and enthusiasm, he would do best in a home without small dogs. One thing Hunter feels very strongly about: cats are not his friends, so a cat-free home is a must! Due to his energy level and excitement, we do not recommend placement with young children. Hunter is continuing to improve his leash manners and will make a wonderful companion for someone willing to invest a little time in training and channeling his energy in positive ways. Hunter is a fun, affectionate, and spirited dog who is ready to find a family that appreciates his big personality and zest for life. If you’re looking for an active companion and a loyal friend, Hunter may be the perfect match for you. If Hunter strikes your fancy and you are ready to help him continue to be the best Collie citizen ever, please fill out an adoption application today! Don’t wait! And if Hunter is not your cup of tea, we have many more Collies of all ages coming in weekly. Please visit https://tristatecollierescue.org/how-to-adopt/ to complete the adoption application. Story
PHYSICAL FENCE REQUIRED Marlo is a sweet, goofy boy with a larger-than-life personality and an endless supply of love to give. He thrives on attention, adores his toys, and is always ready for a game with anyone willing to join in—including the cats! If there’s a toy, a Kong, or an enrichment puzzle involved, Marlo is all in. This handsome guy is crate trained, house trained, walks nicely on leash, and enjoys spending time with his people. He’s been reported to do well with children and is happiest when he’s part of the action. Marlo is also known for his silly habit of squeezing himself under furniture and cots, flattening himself out as much as possible in search of the perfect hiding spot. Marlo would do best in a home with **female dogs only**. Potential adopters should know that Marlo is a bit of a “bull in a china shop.” He doesn’t always realize his own size, may help himself to anything left on the counter, and approaches life with enthusiasm rather than grace. Fortunately, his charming personality more than makes up for his occasional mischief. Marlo also has a few strong opinions. He absolutely despises being groomed and requires medication for grooming appointments, as he becomes extremely stressed and may scream, thrash, or attempt to bite. He is equally unimpressed by bad weather. Rain and snow are beneath him, and he will delay going outside for as long as possible when the forecast isn’t to his liking. Marlo is looking for a home that will appreciate his quirky personality, manage his grooming needs, and provide the love, structure, and understanding he deserves. In return, you’ll get a loyal, entertaining companion who will keep you smiling every day. If Marlo strikes your fancy and you are ready to help him continue to be the best Collie citizen ever, please fill out an adoption application today! Don’t wait! And if Marlo is not your cup of tea, we have many more Collies of all ages coming in weekly. Please visit https://tristatecollierescue.org/how-to-adopt/ to complete the adoption application. PHYSICAL FENCE PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED IF COMMITTED TO WALKING Where are our Smooth Collie lovers? Meet Penny, a beautiful 5-year-old Tri Headed White female, and Luke, a handsome 6-year-old Blue Merle male. These two are a bonded pair and will be looking for a home where they can stay together. Penny and Luke have shared life side by side, and their friendship is one of those quiet reminders that some dogs truly do better with their person and each other. They are entering rescue together, and our hope is to find a family willing to open their hearts and home to both. Smooth Collies do not come into rescue every day, making this pair especially unique. Intelligent, loyal, and full of personality, they are sure to capture the hearts of Smooth Collie enthusiasts. If you have been waiting for Smooth Collies, this may be the pair you have been hoping for. These two sweet souls came to us from Michigan and have formed a special bond that we’d love to preserve. They are genuinely wonderful dogs—kind, affectionate, easygoing, and happiest when they’re simply spending time with their people. Penny and Luke are past the puppy stage and have settled into being excellent companions. They don’t need excitement or adventure nearly as much as they need a soft couch, a loving family, and a place to call home. They enjoy the company of other dogs and may even thrive in a home with a friendly canine companion to round out the family.
