Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hey all! My name is Jewel and my foster momma says I am living up to my name!  Let's get the important stuff out of the way. I am potty trained, great with dogs of all sizes and cats. Foster momma even has a rabbit and I kinda like him too! I am also kennel trained and do sleep in my kennel all night but I would prefer to sleep on the bed with you. The kiddos in this house are older and respectful and I like that. I really would prefer to live with a family that has no tiny kids that like to grab at me or pull on me. That makes me a bit spicy and momma says I should probably stay away from little kids. I am friendly though! I'm a happy girl that is respectful and a bit playful. I don't care too much for toys but that may change as I get more comfortable.  I do bark but not a whole lot. I've only been with my foster momma a short while and she says as I am getting used to the noises here, I am getting better with barking. So I can't really remember my life before coming to Ruff Start. Some nice lady found me wandering around all alone and took me in to the shelter. But somehow, I got a bit chunky in my past life and now momma has me on a dang diet! It's important for my health she tells me that I drop a few pounds so we are working on that and she hopes whoever adopts me will continue to help me with that. I hope you like my pictures and if your interested in meeting, drop me an app!   Jewel is from a local impound. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. If you'd like to donate towards this pet's care, you can donate to our Animal Care Fund. Our Animal Care Fund supports the medical and veterinary needs for all Ruff Start Rescue animals. Story
Name: Max Breeds: Corgi Mix Age: Mature Adult Sex: Male Size: Small-Medium Max is a middle-aged corgi mix who has settled into the perfect companion pooch. He is low-rider with his shorty legs and gets along fantastically with everyone. He does have a bit of a penchant for chasing the kitties in his foster home so would be best in a home without cats or at least without those that will run for him. He doesn’t ever hurt them but he does enjoy watching them run. Max is about 8 years old and a mellow guy though peps up for walks. He has been heartworm treated and is all ready to find his forever home. He does have a previously partial ACL tear but it doesn’t limit him getting around. Requirements: No special requirements Adoption Fee: $450 + tax. This includes neuter/spay, current vaccinations as age appropriate, heartworm/tick testing in dogs over 8 months of age, deworming, microchip and current Heartgard and Nexgard preventatives. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Hiya!  I’m Margo, who are you?  I’m a young adult Corgi.  I weigh about 15 pounds.  Although I don’t know why having to tell people how much you weigh is a thing.  I mean I am a forward thinking lady and all but that seems odd.  But I’m told that hoomans like to know that so they know how big us doggos are, so I hope that answers your questions about that!  Do you want to know some more fun things about me?  I am extremely friendly and eager to be with hoomans.  I do go in the kennel really well, and I am always happy to see my people.  I am sometimes timid just because things are new and I need some more socialization.  But I know I’ll keep learning.  I’m making up for lost time by learning how cool and sweet and fun hoomans can be!  I love affection and will show you my sweet personality and affectionate ways.  In fact, I really love to cuddle so I hope you also love to cuddle.  But, when cuddling isn’t possible, I do like to find a favorite spot for a nap.  I have two other Corgi foster siblings and I play well with them.  In fact, we like to do backyard zoomies and that is really fun.  My foster mom says that the more experience I get with other doggos the more she thinks I will really come out of my shell in sharing my pawsome personality!  I’m not sure if I’d need to have another doggo, but I do enjoy having siblings.  I haven’t ever met those cat things or those children things.  I’d have to meet them and see how it goes.  I do like to chew on things especially if they have squeakers in them.  Do you have any of those?  If not, I bet I can get my foster mom to tell you where she gets them.  I sometimes get afraid of overwhelming commotion, but maybe that will get better in time.  There is a lot to learn and experience in this new hooman rescue world!  I’m not fully potty trained yet but am doing really good when I can be on a schedule.  I’m not yet in the crate very much so not sure how I’d do in that.  I’m learning about the leash, but not really good with it.  It’d be important for me to have a fenced in yard so I don’t go running.  Since things are new and scary, I am a bit of a flight risk, or so I’m told.  And I really like this whole home, hooman thing so I definitely don’t want to get scared and run away from that!  I know that with more practice I’ll get the whole leash thing but until I do, I’ll need a fenced in yard.  I could stay outside and explore for a long long time!  There are just so many fun smells and stuff out there!  I do know what “come” means, isn’t that cool?  I think that’s pretty great!  I’ve never really learned things before so this is a big deal to me!  I also do really well with praise and lots of love and patience.  I do tend to do barkage but usually only when I’m scared or alarmed.  But, you know what?  I sleep well all the way through the whole night!!!  Isn’t that great?  ‘m also a very respectful snuggler either by your side or at your feet.  If you’re looking for a lap dog, I am just about the perfect size for that.  I also really like toys and play with them well.  I don’t totally destroy them like some doggos do.  I’m also a good eater too.  My foster mom says I’m a very good girl that will make a wonderful family pet who will melt your heart.  Is your heart melting?  If so, I’d love to meet you!  Hopefully you can somehow tell my foster mom!  I hope to meet you soon! *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.    ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. WE ARE A TX BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN TX AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED UPON ADOPTION. Please fill out an adoption application found at haydudeequine.org Dexter - You are the bridge between what was and what will be, my pathway to a new life! The name Dexter from the Latin origin meaning 'the fortunate one'. I was very fortunate having a loving home for the first 10years of my life. I had a loving home and a dad that thought the day rose and set around me!! My dad expectantly passed away and so I find myself looking for another loving home for the next part of my life. Still, I do feel I'm 'the fortunate one' having this chance given to me to find another happy home. I'm 10 years young and still enjoy the leisurely pleasures of life. I now love to take the time to stop and smell the flowers instead of just barreling thru life! I do great with people both tall and small and get on great with the other foster pups here. I would do great having a 'silbling' or getting all the attention as your one and only. My happiness shines through when my lil stubby gets to wiggling so hard my whole booty shakes along with my heart melting expressive puppy eyes!! I come in at right around 50lbs. Yes, my daddy loved me lots with maybe a few too many treats and I could stand to lose a few of those pounds. Daily walks and just a few less treats will help with that!! I am tho both house and crate trained making me a great family addition even for those first time pet parents! Is there a piece missing in your life? Someone to always be by your side? Your cohort in crime? Oh my, that could be ME! You just need to stop scrolling and fill out my adoption application and we can be stopping to smell those flowers...together!!!!
