Invisible/ underground fencing is not recommended for most rescue dogs. Hi! My name is Irma and I’m just a sweet corgi gal looking for someone that will give me snuggles and lots of love. In return, I promise to protect you from strangers with a bark or two and bring you countless smiles! I’m a very relaxed and calm girl around the house, but I do like to alert you if there is something exciting going on outside. I love napping, getting pets, chewing on bones, and playing with any dog pals around! I would love having another dog buddy to show me the ropes as I am a little shy. And having a social and friendly dog in my forever home will give me confidence and help me get on a routine. I haven’t met any cats, but I’m sure I’d do okay with them, too. I’ve made canine friends of all sizes, but I think I’d do best with someone about my size. I’ve had some of them try to cross my boundaries, but I’ve let them know, with just a little bark, that I don’t appreciate it. I’ve never gotten angry, though. I prefer to be goofy and silly, doing whatever I can to make you smile. I’ve been learning lots of new things, including “come” and the word for “outside." Best of all, though, have you ever heard of this thing called “snuggling?” I’m just learning about it and I’ve found I REALLY like it! I love to snuggle with you or just be near you. I’m not too clingy though and I enjoy going to my crate whenever I need to nap by myself or when it’s time to sleep for the night. I like going outside to do my business, except when it’s raining, or snowing, or I’m tired -then I make my foster mom carry me out – hee hee! She says it’s not too hard because I’m a petite girl, weighing only 20 lbs. I really enjoy my foster’s fenced in yard, so if you have one of those, that’d be great! I’m looking for a calm place to relax, as sometimes loud noises and lots of commotion make me nervous. So if you think you’re the person to give me a calm place to get to know you, I’ll show you all the love in the world. Are you that person? Then why don’t you reach out to Underdog so we can figure out if we’d be a good fit. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. Invisible/ underground fencing is not recommended for most rescue dogs. Hi there! My name is Victoria, and I am an adorable, shy and spunky female corgi pup!  My foster parents say it may take a few months for me to warm up to my new humans but eventually I did with them, and they say I have become the sweetest dog. I have learned so much from the resident dog here that eventually I learned through him to trust my resident family more and feel I would do best in another home with a friendly dog. I am still getting used to cuddling, but for now I enjoy little nose rubs from the family. Once I feel more comfortable, I am sure I will be ready to cuddle! But for now, I prefer a quiet and calm home where I can learn to dog. I love to play with the cool older cat in my foster home. I play, he may bat at me, we do it all over again or till sometimes he may not want to join, but he is cool anyway. I also like to play with the larger resident dog, and we play a ton inside and outside in the fenced in yard. I am comfortable in my own surroundings playing with toys, chasing my cool pals in the yard, and getting treats of any kind! Oh, also I get along with any friendly dog, of any size!  Since I am still pretty young, I am a little fearful outside yard/home and need some patience and training to feel more comfortable around new things and new surroundings. I could see myself do well in a quiet home where I can learn to be comfortable and slowly ease into new experiences. Young kids are an unknown to me so far, so I may need some guidance as lots of commotion and loud sounds can scare me. Foster mom has been doing a lot to help me gain my confidence and says I am making good progress so far. I even know the commands: come, kennel/crate, leave it, potty and a command word to go outside! I also do well in the kennel!  I have not yet mastered the thing called a leash and I'm not sure what to do so I just freeze but foster mom tells me I should be walking with it. Like mom says, the more practice, the more comfortable I will get! But for now, the fenced in yard is a wonderful place for me to potty and run around!  With lots of love, patience, and another dog to learn from, I could become your sweetest loving and loyal companion. Woof! Woof!  I’m a growing puppy and I have not yet had a lot of experience with crates, kids or cats and I might bark if something alarms me, but I really love to learn and hoping for a family who will take me to a basic obedience class to continue to help me build confidence and dog skills. Ideally my forever home would need to be home during the day to help me with my potty training and not leave me for breaks longer than 3 - 4 hours. If you are looking for a best friend, please fill out the puppy application. The more info you include on the application the better so I can find a good match for my forever home. Get your toy box ready! **Obedience classes are required when adopting this puppy from Underdog Rescue. Many of our puppies have a mama who was not properly socialized before coming to Underdog Rescue. Since coming to Underdog, this puppy has been in a socialized and loving home, but that needs to be continued with its Adopters.  Training classes teach puppies the ins and outs of being a pet while creating a bond with their new Adopter.  Obedience classes are key to creating a relationship with your puppy while having it be a happy and successful member of society.   Proof of Obedience Class registration is required for this puppy before adoptions can be finalized.  If you would like some suggestions, we would be happy to send some trainers who have experience with Underdog Rescue, but a Basic Obedience class in your area should work! Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void.  We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion. Puppy Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee.  Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the puppy. Our goal is place puppies in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the puppy, we will not approve your application. We accept applications for puppies until we have a candidate that meets all of the requirements needed for the specific puppy and they have been contacted to review the adoption process as well as agree to all of the terms to move forward.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. I might be small and I might be young but I’m smart enough to know that this weather here in Minnesota is crazy!  I was a little cautious about the great outdoors, but with time have shown my people that I am trying to be brave. Try as I might, I just haven’t found the bravery yet to be social and play with people or other dogs.  But I’m really trying.  I’m more of an observer at the moment. I’m very sweet and gentle overall.  I’ve discovered I really like to chew and love peanut butter in my Kong.  I would be the happiest dog ever if you gave me a kong everyday! Don’t worry about needing to potty train me once I know where the “out” door is, for you.  I’ve got that down.  Admittedly, I haven’t had a need for a kennel yet, so you might need to work with me on that if you choose to.  But I will definitely need help figuring out the leash trick.  Frankly, it scares me so I’d like a fenced yard so I can avoid that situation altogether.  There are some other corgi dogs in this foster home and I play nicely with them once I get up the courage.  But I prefer the younger one – we love zoomies and playing with toys.  I’m not really a barking fool either.  I will when I’m alarmed but I don’t scream and shout unless there is a reason.  I’m so busy following you around to make sure all is ok.  I wasn’t always like that though.  When I first came, I was petrified and wouldn’t come out of the kennel I came in.  I have learned how great snuggling is and will gladly sleep next to you all night long (and perhaps all day if requested!) All I need now is a forever home with lots of patience, unconditional love and peanut butter kongs! **Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Invisible/ underground fencing is not recommended for most rescue dogs. Hi – my name is Aerona and I’ve made so much progress since I first came here, that I figured I’d update you on all the things I’ve been working on.  It was difficult for me in the beginning to adjust to home life but I’ve now discovered the value of friends.  As long as you’re home more than not, I can be an only dog.  However, I’ve learned that my fur friends are the ones who can teach me so much about the good things to living in a home. So maybe an occasional playdate with other fur friends if you don’t have one at home for me.   I’m still a bit skittish with loud noises and abrupt movement, which means that small kids are too much for me to handle.  I’ve discovered that I really enjoy cuddling, naps, going for walks and of course, bacon! I just ask you to be patient with me as I continue learning the ropes.  I know there is more to learn.  I do well on a leash and an about 90% potty-trained.  A consistent routine will help me with that.  I live with 2 resident cats in my foster home and we all have been respectful of each other’s space.  SO other well-mannered and pet friendly animals preferred.  During the day I have gotten to enjoy walks, naps, treats, my sheep plushie and chewing on balls.  I am crate trained and rarely bark, so that’s one thing I’ve mastered like a champ!  I don’t need a fenced yard but hey, if you have one, I won’t complain! Maybe you can take me for a car ride too, since those are always fun! My foster mom wanted me to confess that although I don’t hunt down squirrels or rabbits during the day, at night, I do.  And then there is this fun fact…they call me Tuna (apparently I have “tuna breath”) *insert dry smirk*  But I do love  to sleep with my humans and cuddle which is perfect for your long winters!  All I need now is a forever home with lots of patience, unconditional love and the time to help me be the best I can be! Story
I’ve had Terry for 2 years. He’s great with me and people he knows well. He wants to be in a fenced yard because he does like to run outside. He loves kids and dogs smaller than him but gets triggered by larger dogs. He is mostly mellow in the house unless someone rings the doorbell or knocks. He will bark and let you know if someone is at the door. His bite doesn’t hurt because he doesn’t really bite he nips like at your pant leg if he doesn’t know you. Once he knows you he will fall into you like a baby but if the doorbell rings then he’s off to bark at the door. If Terry isn’t in a fenced yard he will run to other dogs to either fight or sniff depending on the size of the dog. So that’s Terry.

Story
My cousin passed away unexpectedly a month ago. I took in his two dogs but they need more room, a yard perhaps more time going on walks. Bailey is sweet and cuddly. Loves food and could use an exercise routine! Previously lived in a house with bathroom access to the backyard all the time. That’s one reason this isn’t a perfect fit. My lease also restricts me to one dog and I have a 15 yo terrier rescue.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi, my name is Diamond! Here are some fun facts about me.  I do not really know/or respond to my name so it can be changed.  I am a very cuddly girl who loves to spend time with her humans. My estimated DOB is 2/2/22.  I get easily distracted due to all the nature outdoors and the sounds from the cats in my foster home.  I am house-trained and crate trained.  I do not really like to spend time in there, so I do whine occasionally.  I can calm myself down though after a little bit.   I am working on some training.   I am starting to learn down, stay and shake.  I am starting to get better at sit.  I am very good at crawl.   I have had a lot of transitions in a short amount of time, and it has taken a toll on me.  I have some anxiety especially when someone is leaning over me, and in the car.  I just can’t sit still. I am very much still a puppy and I enjoy chewing on bones, treats, and toys.  I like to play fetch and tug of war.   I am very interested in cats. I am very good at playing with other dogs.  I play with other doggos at their level of play style.   I love to herd them and chase them around the backyard.  I am very fast and agile.  I would enjoy having another pup in the home to play with.  The last thing is that when I was spayed, I tested positive for Lyme Disease.  This means that I could have flare-ups throughout my life and my new family would need to know what a flare up could be like.  Here is a good resource: https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/lyme-disease-in-dogs I am a fun loving, good natured, and playful pup looking for a home with a loving, kind, and patient family.  Could that be with you?  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Interested in adopting this lovable animal? Please go to our website www.wagsmn.org and fill out an Adoption Application.  Once the application is processed, a Wags representative will contact you, answer any questions you may have, and set up a time/location for a meet and greet!  A home visit is required prior to adoption.  Thank you for choosing to adopt! Breed and temperament determination:  Wags & Whiskers Animal Rescue attempts to determine breed and temperament using a combination of looks, information provided to us at intake, and our experience with the animal while in our Rescue.  We do not guarantee this determination. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.   Ruby is a little cutie. A 2.5 year old, 25 lbs, female Corgi mix. She is quite shy and maybe need another dog and a fenced in home for her best home! She is good with other dogs and cats. This is an update from her foster:  Ruby is very submissive with a cute smile and is very soft. I am not sure if she has ever been in a house. We had to work on her coming in the door over the threshold when she came home. She is still leary and will only go out the front, not the garage door yet. She is very friendly, loves pets, and has not barked yet. She eats food fine, but will not eat treats. Not sure what they are. She took one last night for the 1st time but I had to put it on the ground, she will not take it from a hand.   She is not sure what a leash is. She drops to the ground and goes stiff when you put a leash on. When she is up, she will try to pull out of it. She is interested in our dog and watches him and is very gentle. She has taken one toy under her wing and seems to take it with her everywhere as a safety blanket.  Interested in adopting? He is getting along with the other resident dogs but does try to steal everyone's food. He also tries to monopolize the fosters attention and personal space. He mostly ignores the cats but does like to give them a good sniff when he sees them. He walks nicely on leash, matching the speed of the other dogs but does need some work on not wrapping himself around ankles in excitement when he sees a squirrel.  He went on an adventure to the local dog park and did great meeting people, including kids, and other dogs. Had a blast playing with other dogs in the fenced enclosure. At home he hasn't barked much except to join other dogs barking at the mailman. He does like to chew so it’s important he has appropriate things to chew on.  Elvis seems very smart, adaptable and high energy-it might be good for him to have another dog to play with and/or have a hobby like agility.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called 'cute' as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.  *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.   //

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hey I’m Spotty, I’m a young Corgi/border collie mix. I am a mom of 7 puppies and I do really love them however I’m looking for a spot of my own away from them. I am ready to chill and relax and enjoy my days not being a mom. I am a very sweet girl and absolutely love my people and hanging out with them. I love cuddles. I am fairly skinny so should put on some weight. I do good with other dogs with slow introductions. I am potty trained. I am crate trained as well. I only make noise when I have to go potty. Bones and high value treats should only be given to me in the kennel if other dogs are around. I love being outside and going for walks. I should go to a house with no kids or older kids because of the herding breeds in me. I need some help with learning that it isn’t okay to heard people. I am very treat motivated and have a feeling I will learn quickly. I definitely am still a pup myself because I am pretty mouthy when it comes to playing. This should be easy to train. Right now my mom puts a toy in my mouth when I am getting to be to much with her and it definitely helps! I do not chew on anything I am not supposed too but I do love chewing and playing on my toys! I ride well in the car and will just lay down or look out the window. I'd love to meet you! Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, alter, prepaid microchip, dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate),  Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age , Bordetella vaccine, 4DX , flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $525.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 31, 2023, 5:11 pm
