Apply on our website ( https://www.healingheartsrescue.org/adopt )  to  set up a private meeting or check below for my adoption event schedule.     Age: About 7.5-8 years old Weight: 21 pounds Dog friendly: YES, REQUIRED IN HER HOME Cat friendly: Yes Kid friendly: Yes, but prefers a quite home Potty trained: Yes, on a schedule  Crate trained: Yes   Oh boy just look at this pretty girl!! Little Miss Joni is ready to shower you in love and affection with her corgi big smile in tow. She's a very happy, wiggly, and smart little girl whose life wasn't always sunshine and rainbows.  She was rescued from a breeder who kept her in an outside pen and sadly when she was young her signature corgi ears were burned by the heat lamp. They are all healed now and Joni doesn't give two cares about it and hopes you can see past it as well!   &#226&#128&#139Joni is very well mannered, affectionate, gentle and sweet. She's happiest lounging quietly in the house but has just the right amount of energy to keep up on long walks, camping and hiking.  She's excelled and basic obedience and knows how to sit, down, stay, come, walk nicely on leash and has an excellent recall.   Joni great with other dogs, cats and livestock. She actually will require another dog in her home and prefers her dog sibling to have a relaxed energy (no young, high energy or pushy dogs for her life  partner). She is good with all people but really doesn't love a lot of fast moving action so young kids are not her jam. She'd thrive in a quite home with another dog friend or two and people who love her.   Joni does have some anxiety that is mostly triggered by thunderstorms but also fireworks, power tools and loud children. She will pace and pant and sometimes have potty accidents when she's scared.  She loves her safe spot (kennel) during these scary times.  This pretty girl can’t wait to meet you and love you endlessly    Adoption Fee: $495  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.INTERESTED IN MEETING ME? Story
My dog Rio, 13 years old, was adopted by me roughly 10 years ago. In that time, he has been the most loving and loyal friend I could ask for. But due to my allergies, I need to rehome him. For someone considering adoption, please note that Rio is very protective. He is a one person dog and always will be. His new owner should expect to keep him isolated the majority of the time, and be prepared to take precautions when visiting the vet or groomer. If you are interested in my dog, I would gladly cover everything you will need to know including his history. I’m hoping to find someone that will love him just as much as I have, because he really is a good boy, he just is misunderstood.

Story
Misty is a 2 year old Corgi/Shepherd mix that weighs about 30 lbs. She came from a South Dakota reservation where she was abandoned when her owners moved and left her behind to fend for herself. She was fearful out there by herself & people were trying to catch her to no avail. She was eventually caught after she was weakened by a porcupine attack. She had lots of quills in her face, head, neck & one in the corner of her eye. We were notified by a contact in SD & we agreed to help her. We asked that she be brought to the nearest Vet who sedated her & pulled out a lot of quills, put her on antibiotics & medicated eye ointment. Then transport was arranged for her to come to Second Chance. We immediately brought her to one of the clinics we use and more quills were removed under sedation. There were many trips to the Vet to monitor her eye, which recovered nicely, and to continue to pull quills that were working their way out of her. Despite the long & painful recovery from the embedded quills & healing from a previous broken leg, Misty is a happy girl now & absolutely loves everyone she meets. She is a real people dog & loves to be by her foster mom or any visitors that stop by. She is housetrained and has not gotten into anything when left alone loose in the house. She rarely barks & she know sit, come, and stay. She comes when called, likes to go for walks,& likes to go for car rides. She does pull some on leash so she needs a little more leash work. She is afraid of dogs that approach too fast - so she needs to have slow introductions when meeting other dogs. She would also be fine as an only dog. Misty would make an excellent companion for someone who wants a very sweet, devoted dog. She has been spayed, vaccinated, and her heartworm test and tick profile are both negative. Her microchip is registered to Second Chance. The adoption fee is $375. If you would like to meet Misty, please call 651-771-5662.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Caliber, a lively and affectionate dog with a big heart and a playful spirit. Caliber's journey began when he was abandoned at a dog park, leaving him with some understandable anxieties about being left alone. Despite this, he's incredibly loving and eager to please, especially when surrounded by his people. Caliber is a well-behaved boy who knows how to use a dog door and has mastered house training with no accidents. He's not a fan of crates due to his fear of being left alone. He's gentle and plays exceptionally well with smaller dogs!  In the mornings, Caliber is at his most playful, enjoying romps with his small dog companions until he tires out. He's also a sun-loving pup who enjoys lounging outdoors and keeping himself entertained throughout the day. His playful nature is evident in his leaps, bounds, and adorable noises—he's a true charmer who loves to herd and be close to his humans. He's vocal when he plays or wants attention, expressing his affection through gentle love nips and the occasional whine when feeling lonely. Caliber would thrive in a home with another playful dog companion and someone who is often around, as he appreciates company and struggles with abandonment issues. His ideal environment would include someone who can give him the attention and love he craves, helping him feel secure and cherished in his new home. Adopting Caliber means welcoming a loyal friend who's ready to fill your life with love, playfulness, and companionship.   Caliber is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 7/27/2024 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 9AM and 12PM. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame.  Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Click here to learn more about the FTA program. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 18, 2024, 7:48 pm
