Story
Lincoln was born in Montana and rescued from the Humane Society at 6 months of age. Lincoln is house trained and is great with all ages. When we lived in Montana, he would join us on hikes off-leash and spent lots of time swimming in lakes. Lincoln loves to fetch anything, and will go as long as you let him. Above all, he enjoys spending time with people and loves to curl up at your feet. He is a great balance of playful and lazy. His one ailment is a front right paw deformity that has been present since birth. It doesn't slow him down, however, he will limp after extended hikes, sessions of fetch, or playtime with other dogs. Thus, we keep fetch and time with other dogs limited. Since relocating to TX we've been growing our family, making it difficult to take care of Lincoln and give him the attention he deserves. Lincoln would do best as the only pet in a household with people who are home most of the time, such as a retired couple who want a low maintenance and mild-tempered dog.

Story
Meet Tribble  (Formerly "Trouble" — but Tribble is cuter. Plus, Star Trek.) Tribble's story didn't start the way she deserved. This chunky little Corgi-Chihuahua mix was found on the side of a road in Slidell, TX — motionless, with wounds, and very much in need of someone to show up for her. A Good Samaritan did, and Wise County Animal Control brought her in. She was microchipped. We got excited. We thought we'd found her person. Instead, we learned that her original owner — the woman who loved her — had passed away. Her husband rehomed her, lost track of who he'd given her to, and declined to pick her up when we called. (We're not naming names, but someone is going to be haunted. Just saying.) The new owners never came. So Tribble came to us. And here's what we found: underneath the road rash and the hard luck was a spicy, sassy, deeply loving little dog who just needed someone to earn her trust. Once you do? She is a world-class cuddle bug. A velcro dog. A "sit on your feet and stare at you with complete devotion" kind of girl. She'll absolutely put some pep in your step — she has opinions and she shares them. But for the right person, she is everything. Tribble needs: An experienced dog owner who understands big personality in a small package A home without young children Either an only-dog household, OR a confident dog who can hold their own (she's been around other dogs but has her spicy moments) Tribble comes with: Current vaccinations Spayed and microchipped Potty trained A love of her crate — it's her safe place, her fortress of solitude Tribble has already survived more than she should have had to. She's ready for her final chapter to be a good one. Could that be with you? ##2771284##

Story
Lucy and Ethel were two sweet pups found on Rector Road in Sanger TX. A good samaritan got them off the road. They will be on stray hood for a few days to give a rightful owner time to reclaim.   These girls are sweet. Lucy (red white face) is slightly more fiesty and Ethel (darker face) is a little more reserved. Both are ready for home settings and don't deserve to grow up in a kennel.    Update 10/1: The girls are almost fully potty trained. They have been vaccinated and spade. They are ready to go to their new homes.   We have also completed genetic testing on Ethel (we assume both girls will have some more profiles, although there is a possibility that they have different fathers): 25.5% supermutt (mostly chow, chihuahua, German shepherd and Australian shepherd) 25% American Pitbull Terrier 17% Great Pyrenees 12.1% Siberian Husky 11.8% Catahoula 8.6% Corgi ##2812278##

Story
Meet Honeydew! This beautiful, fluffy white girl is looking for her person — someone she can follow from the morning walk to the desk to the couch, and love completely. Honeydew is about 2 years old, ~45 lbs, and as sweet as she is pretty. She's a little shy at first but warms up fast, and once she's yours she's devoted, gentle, and endlessly affectionate. She's housetrained, calm in the house, a total pro in the car, walks like a dream, and even tags along to the office like a champ. Low-key, easygoing, and happiest by your side. She will do well with other dogs in the household or as an only dog. Perfect for a person or couple wanting a loyal, mellow companion. Great with adults and dog-savvy older kids. Honeydew will do best in a home with an owner who is experienced with dogs. If you're ready for a devoted shadow and a beautiful walking buddy, Honeydew is your girl.   To meet Honeydew in person visit us at www.dsda.org/adopt and submit our online adoption application.  ADOPTION FEE Covers: Core vaccines plus Lepto and Flu, all boosters, microchip, dewormer until clear fecal test & spay or neuter when completed by a DSDA vet partner plus any necessary medical care.  All dogs are on flea, tick and heartworm prevention and you receive the following month's preventatives complementary with your adoption!  * Adoption Fees: Puppies (12 months and under) - $325  Dogs (over 12 months) - $275  Qualifications for Adoption:  No dog is alike and each dog has different requirements based on breed, age, energy level and life experiences. All of our dogs live in foster homes which allows us the opportunity to learn about their individual needs.  Must be home more than not. Vet checks are required! All resident pets in the applicant's home MUST be spayed or neutered, core vaccines up to date and dogs on heartworm prevention to be considered! No exceptions.  Must be 21 years or older with identification showing present address. Must have the knowledge and consent of all adults living in the household. Must receive proof of pet deposit and lease allowing pets if renting. Willingness and capacity to spend the time and money necessary to provide training, medical treatment and responsible care for a pet. Must have a secure fence if in a house.
