Story
Bruno is such a sweet dog! My husband and I had a baby , that being said Bruno just doesn’t get the time he deserves. It’s not fair for him. He is such a lazy boy- such a cuddly soul. He really is a good boy, however he does not get along with other dogs or cats- ANY type of animal really. Mis behaves on a leash when we go on walks. He has improved tremendously, but if he sees another dog, he can be a handful. I think he’s just being protective really, not actually aggressive behavior. NO teeth, no growling or hair poking up at all. Mostly barks and whines at them. My husband usually walks him in the mornings before work and I would do nights, with baby it’s impossible to do it because he is so strong for a small dog.We got him from an older couple 1 year ago and wasn’t told about this behavior. We did our best to correct the behavior and he is improving little by little. He is so sweet and adorable, carries his toy everywhere he goes and loves to cuddle. Best with older kids.

Story
Wesley is a 3-year-old, 35-pound very beautiful mix of Corgi and Australian Cattle Dog. He is an affectionate, friendly and well-behaved dog. Wesley gets along well with the two other dogs in his foster home. He loves to run zoomies around the yard with them or play the ever-popular game of You-chase-me, now-I-chase-you, now-you chase me. His favorite thing to play with is squeaky toys. He will happily squeak away and entertain himself. His favorite activity is squirrel hunting. He’s also very fond of walks. Wesley is very sweet and quietly affectionate. He loves to snuggle up beside you on the couch or the bed. When you come home, he’ll wag his tail wildly and, if it’s available, lick your leg. He is always up for a head scratch, a butt scritch, and a tummy rub. The first year of his life Wesley lived with a homeless woman. Because of this, he is very friendly to all people and has zero aggression in him. He loves to take car rides to go places and meet people. If you’re looking for a friendly dog to go everywhere with you, Wesley fits the bill. Wesley spent the next 2 or so years in a good home with a loving owner. He came to us when she had to move into an assisted living facility. Because of this experience, he has his manners down. He is house-trained, both through a doggie door and just being let out regularly. When foster dogmom is at work, Wesley has run of the house and is non-destructive. He would prefer to sleep in the bed with his person/people, but he will sleep in a dog bed. Note that he can get a little growly around male dogs, but it is easily corrected and never results in fights. Wesley would prefer a home with a yard but could adapt to apartment life. He would be a great dog for a single, couple or family, though we recommend older children only. Wesley is neutered and has all his shots. He is heartworm-negative and on heartworm preventative. Note: We always respond first to inquiries that tell us something about your living situation (house, apartment, single, family, etc.) and why you want this dog. Be sure to include your phone number in your inquiry. We call inquiries that seem to be a good fit for the dog.

Story
Meet Cooper! Cooper is an approximately 3-year-old male Pit Bull/Corgi mix weighing 24 pounds who is ready to find his loving forever home. Cooper was originally found as a stray off Brentwood Dr. in Heath on 09/12/26. After completing his required stray hold and never being reclaimed, he is now available for adoption. Cooper is a friendly young guy looking for a family ready to provide him with the love, consistency, and companionship he deserves. At this time, we are unsure how Cooper would do with cats or small children. If you currently have another dog in the home, a meet and greet is encouraged prior to adoption to help ensure everyone is a good fit. Cooper is neutered, microchipped, current on his rabies vaccination and basic annual boosters, and heartworm negative. His adoption fee is $125. An approved online adoption application is required prior to scheduling a meet and greet. If you think Cooper could be the perfect addition to your family, submit an application today  All animals, unless otherwise noted in their description, are at 1825 Airport Rd. in Rockwall, TX. Hours of operation are Monday-Friday 9 am to 6 pm and Saturdays 9 am to 5 pm. For questions, please call 972-771-7750 ext. 2 or email info@RockwallAdoptions.com. IMPORTANT NOTICE: All shelter animals are required by Texas state law to be spayed/neutered. RAC completes this procedure at the age of 12 weeks. If you are adopting a pet under the age of 12 weeks or an animal that has not yet been spayed or neutered, you will be required to return the pet to our facility on the agreed upon date set at the time of adoption. This policy is non-negotiable and violation of this health code is a criminal offense. September 16, 2026, 7:49 pm

Story
Meet Honeydew! This beautiful, fluffy white girl is looking for her person — someone she can follow from the morning walk to the desk to the couch, and love completely. Honeydew is about 2 years old, ~45 lbs, and as sweet as she is pretty. She's a little shy at first but warms up fast, and once she's yours she's devoted, gentle, and endlessly affectionate. She's housetrained, calm in the house, a total pro in the car, walks like a dream, and even tags along to the office like a champ. Low-key, easygoing, and happiest by your side. She will do well with other dogs in the household or as an only dog. Perfect for a person or couple wanting a loyal, mellow companion. Great with adults and dog-savvy older kids. Honeydew will do best in a home with an owner who is experienced with dogs. If you're ready for a devoted shadow and a beautiful walking buddy, Honeydew is your girl.   To meet Honeydew in person visit us at www.dsda.org/adopt and submit our online adoption application.  ADOPTION FEE Covers: Core vaccines plus Lepto and Flu, all boosters, microchip, dewormer until clear fecal test & spay or neuter when completed by a DSDA vet partner plus any necessary medical care.  All dogs are on flea, tick and heartworm prevention and you receive the following month's preventatives complementary with your adoption!  * Adoption Fees: Puppies (12 months and under) - $325  Dogs (over 12 months) - $275  Qualifications for Adoption:  No dog is alike and each dog has different requirements based on breed, age, energy level and life experiences. All resident pets in the applicant's home MUST be spayed or neutered, core vaccines up to date and dogs on heartworm prevention to be considered! No exceptions.  Must be 21 years or older with identification showing present address. Must have the knowledge and consent of all adults living in the household.
