Please welcome Clifford to Sky Sanctuary! We discovered Clifford when we were told about a few stray dogs that had been running around a Phoenix neighborhood for weeks. We were driving around looking for them when we were flagged down by a neighbor who had a pup on their front yard porch. He was absolutely terrified. We got a slip lead on him and he wildly began to thrash. We calmed him down and began inching him into a crate where he was finally safe at last!! Clifford is a Dachshund who is around 2 years old. He is such a sweet boy with big brown eyes and a beautiful coat. His chest hair makes him look like a little lion! Which is fitting because we are sure he thinks he’s a big boy lion at heart. Clifford is as sweet as can be and we are beyond excited to place him in a loving forever home! Jones is 3 year old 22 pound pup who joined us recently from the Humane Society of Yuma. He's listed as a Dachshund blend. Blended with what we don't know but hopefully whoever adopts him will do a DNA test! Jones is living with one of our amazing foster homes and will be available to meet at the adoption center on Saturdays from 10am-4pm, until adopted. We do require any family interested in meeting our dogs or cats to fill out a consultation form – this form helps us determine if the dog/cat and the home are a good match, since it is so easy to fall in love with a photo, without knowing the personality of the dog. Once you have filled out the online Adoption Consultation Form, just come in and see us (or come and see us and fill out the consultation form upon arrival)!Please note that ALL dogs and cats are available to the first home that meets the dog or cat that we feel is a good match. In order to help make the best match, we do want all family members (dogs and humans) to meet any potential new family member. Our adoption center hours are: Closed Sunday/Monday; Tuesday 10a-2p, Wednesday 3p-7p, Thursday 3p-7p, Friday 10a-2p, Saturday 10a-4p. We are located at 952 W Melody Avenue in Gilbert (zip code 85233).All animals are altered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, licensed (dogs). Cats tested for FELV/FIV. Dogs tested for Heartworm. All animals are available to the first family that is a good match, and if we have more than one animal who is a good match, there will be a lottery for all matches. Note that families must have come in to our adoption center and spoken with an adoption counselor prior to any lottery (when we have lotteries, they usually occur on Saturday mornings).

Forever Loved took me right in from a shelter where I was struggling with all the chaos that goes along with lots of scared and homeless dogs. The day we found mystic it was a magical day! There was certainly something in the air. Our dog trainer had texted us that he had seen a dog in the wash and asked if we could help. When we went to look for him, he was in the same spot the trainer had first saw him. He was hunkered down in a bush with no intentions of moving. His little body was tense and he had a big gash on his head. Suspected to be from a coyote or dog fight. After a few attempts, we were able to secure him with a lead, but this was short lived as he chewed his way through and was free roaming the washes once again. Determined to save this boy, we stalked him all day. We ultimately decided to set up a humane trap and then we waited. Remember how we said this day felt magical? Well, the first time he came around the trap, the Sky had shifted and a rainbow was above him as he circled the trap. Then finally, under the full moon with coyotes howling in the distance, Mystic walked into our trap and was finally safe!! It took some time to gain this shy boys' trust. He was definitely weary of us at first. Slowly but surely his hilarious personality started to shine through. He started to trust us, started to kiss us and then started to play! He is a completely different pup these days. So full of love and life! Mystic is a Basset Hound, Ibizan Hound mix around 3 years old. He is at board and train working on basic obedience and building his confidence. Showing him how he to be the best boy he can be! We are so extremely excited to show this special boy how amazing life in a home with a loving family can be!
