He loves playing fetch, going for walks, greeting his favorite people with kisses, and then ending his day in true dachshund fashion—tunneled under a blanket and snoozing peacefully until morning. Kash has come a long way since entering rescue and initially struggled with significant reactivity. With structure, boundaries, and consistent behavioral intervention, he has made meaningful progress. However, Kash has a documented bite history, and his adopter must understand that his behavioral history cannot be considered “cured.” He will require thoughtful, lifelong management. His ideal adopter is someone experienced with dachshunds and, importantly, with dogs who have behavioral challenges. Kash needs a person who understands canine body language, respects boundaries, provides consistent structure and routine, and is willing to continue reinforcing the work that has helped him succeed. Kash should be the only pet in an adult-only home with no children or cats. Because he bonds strongly with his person and prefers companionship and stability, someone who is retired, works from home, or is home much of the day would be ideal. He does experience some separation anxiety but generally settles once he adjusts to his routine. Hi there, I am about to lose my elder dog and I also have extreme health issues that have put me through financial issues and I don’t believe I can care for her anymore. My older dog she has been around two years since I got her from shelter, she seems to love other dogs companies. She’s extremely sweet, I just can’t get another dog once my older one passes and I don’t know how much more time I have as well. I really need her to go to a loving home. She is very nice, her only issue is marking, she does well in a kennel I just tend to give her free rein. She really only marks on rugs when unattended. She’s very well behaved and potty trained otherwise. She’s not huge on getting picked up, she takes a minute to trust, but she loves all animals and females or males. This is the last thing I want to do but I can’t risk myself going unexpectedly and having no family take her in. I would rather prepare for worst and make sure she is loved like she deserves
