Story
This is Axel. He’s my sweet foster from the shelter and is looking for a forever home. He’s older, so he’s pretty lazy, but he enjoys a fun walk, barks at passers by like most dachshunds and snoozes in his spot. He loves dog bones and cuddles. He has allergies, so he will require daily medication for his itches. I give him Zyrtec. He loves my dog, but I recommend slow introductions. I also feel like he would be good without other dogs in the house. He’s good at adapting. I feel like he prefers females, but I know a man could earn his love easily too. Axel has preferred my husband since day one! He’s a lover! I also recommend a house with older children. Little kids make him anxious. I have loved having Axel in my house and know you will love having him too!

Story
Larry is a very shy, timid, & sweet boy, who recently lost his mama and the only real home that he has ever known. Before he was adopted by his mama from this very rescue, Larry was born into horrible hoarding conditions. He lived in squalor with at least 30 other small dogs, who all suffered from neglect. Due to the circumstances of his early life, Larry has never fully come out of his shell or fully lost his fear of humans. He has improved over the years, and will sit close to people, but he prefers not to be petted. He will take treats from your hand in time. Larry is about 5 years old and weighs approximately 15 lbs. We think he is a mix of poodle, chihuahua and possibly doxie or similar small breed mix. He is house trained, but he is not leash trained. He is a quiet, couch potato. He has some hair loss and matting of his coat. He also appears to have a cataract or old eye injury and some damage to the edges of his ears. We believe these issues are all related to his early life in a hoarding environment, but we will be getting him vet checked and groomed before he is cleared for adoption. We understand that Larry may not be a perfect match for everyone, but it is said that there is someone out there for everyone, and we are hoping that Larry will find another very special someone to love him just as much as his previous mama loved him. Someone, who finds him to be perfect just the way he is. If you believe you could be Larry’s special person and you are interested in Larry, please complete an application for him. Thank you!

Story
Meet Kali—a lovable, loyal little lady with a big personality! Kali is the perfect blend of curious and cuddly. She’s an explorer at heart and enjoys checking out her surroundings, but she’s no troublemaker—Kali does great at home even when left alone. True to her dachshund roots, she’s got a strong prey drive and loves chasing birds or the occasional feral cat, so she’ll do best in a home without small pets like cats, guinea pigs, or reptiles. Kali lives for park days and adores playing chase with her doggie pals. She’d thrive in a home with a secure backyard (she is part dachshund, after all—digging is in her DNA!) and would love a furry sibling to hang out with while her humans are away. She gets along well with other dogs her size. Kali isn’t shy about expressing herself—if she thinks she’s missing out on the fun, she’ll let you know with a few vocal opinions. :) When the day winds down, Kali transforms into a total cuddlebug. She’ll gently nuzzle in close, letting you know she’s ready for some cozy snuggles and a little extra love. This sweet girl is ready to bring joy, adventure, and a whole lot of love to her forever family. EMAIL ADOPT@VALLEYDOGS.ORG to meet Kali and see for yourself what a gem she is!

Story
Mini long-haired dachshund puppy looking for a new home. He’s super chill, playful, and very loving. He loves being around people, exploring, and cuddling up once he gets comfortable. He has a beautiful long-haired reddish brown coat with darker ears and is absolutely adorable in person. He’s very calm for a puppy, doesn’t bark much at all, and has a sweet personality. Great little companion dog and does well just hanging around with you. Born 3/12/26.

Story
Dude is a 6-year-old male Dachshund with a heart of gold. He’s not the type to run up and greet strangers right away — he takes his time warming up to new people. But for those who are patient, the reward is a deeply loyal and affectionate companion. He would do best with a calm, patient adult or couple who understand that shy dogs aren’t broken — they just need time. No young children or other pets, please. If you’ve loved a timid dog before, you already know how special that bond becomes. If you’re interested, I’d love to have a short conversation before we meet, and I’m happy to arrange a slow introduction so he can meet you on his own terms.
