When I look at this little lady I see the most adorable little “low rider” girl...just beautiful and I love her pretty coloring. Penny will be a lot of fun to the lucky family that adopts her! She is sweet, happy, spunky and good natured. Still being a youngster, she loves nothing more but running around playing with the other pups and her toys. She enjoys being around people and gets along great with the other dogs. My wish for Penny is to be adopted by a fun and active family that will include her in their everyday comings and goings. Penny and her sister Petra (also posted) were pulled from a local animal shelter. Penny is 5 ½ months old (dob 4/4/26) and weighs 21 pounds. She has been spayed, microchipped, fecal tested, current on all vaccinations, worming and is on heartworm and flea prevention. Her adoption fee is $400. Penny is being fostered in Tennessee. Once adopted she will be transported to her pickup location by a professional dog transport company. Our rescue ships to the New England area most weeks and her fee includes transportation. Due to state laws, we cannot accept applications from residents of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island or Maine since we can’t adopt directly to those states.

This spunky little fella is going to be a lot of fun for some lucky family. He is a sweet, friendly, happy and good natured little boy. He’s pretty outgoing and active as well and he really enjoys playing with his toys, the other pups and exploring the outdoors. He adores being around people, grownups and kids alike, and being on the receiving end of their attention too. I’m sure he will be sitting on go when the family loads up to go on their fun filled outings. Shadow’s Mom is a black/tan purebred Dachshund and his Dad is a black Chihuahua mix. He is 4 1/2 months old (dob 5/2/26) and he weighs 14 pounds at the time of this posting (9/17/26). He has been neutered, microchipped, fecal tested and is current on all vaccinations, worming and on heartworm and flea prevention. His adoption fee is $400. Shadow is being fostered in Tennessee. Dogs: all (prefers another playful dachshund) Other: requires twice-daily anxiety medication Overview Meet Libby, an adorable 2-year-old, 9.8-pound mini Red Boar Dachshund with a huge heart. Libby came to Little Paws after her previous owners gave her away on Facebook. Though she needs a little time to settle in, she is a wonderful, affectionate companion who loves to play and is a fantastic cuddler when sleeping with you at night. Environment Libby has high energy and loves daily walks and playtime. She is a great walker on a leash and loves exploring the outdoors. She would love a fenced yard to run and play safely, but would do well if exercised regularly on a leash and harness. Because she can be quite chatty and bark loudly when strangers approach, she is not suitable for living arrangements with shared walls like apartments or townhomes. She relies on pee pads and is not currently crate trained, crying the entire time if placed in a kennel. Pets & People Libby does wonderfully with other dogs of all sizes and loves playing with her foster's 2-year-old dachshund. Another playful dog in the home helps greatly with her anxiety and would be her ideal setup. With people, Libby needs about two days to warm up and prefers women, as men have not always been kind to her in her past. We will not place her with small children. While she barks loudly at strangers to protect herself, she has done wonderfully at large adoption events when given patience and time. She can be greedy with treats and eats separately from other pets. Health & Special Needs Libby is currently on anxiety medication which she needs to take twice a day, though her foster believes she may be able to wean off of them once she settles into a stable forever home. Louie came to Little Paws as an owner surrender when his previous owner could no longer devote enough time to him due to their schedule. He is an incredibly affectionate boy who loves to give kisses, get the zoomies, and make sure he is touching you at all times. Environment Louie has a medium energy level, enjoying short walks or playtime, and is great on a leash. He will be adopted with Fritz who requires a secure fenced yard due to a high prey drive and flight risk. He considers his crate to be his happy place and is very content when left to his own devices. He is not too noisy and doesn’t bark much. While he is potty trained, he is a bit of a shy pooper and may try to hide or go in the house if he isn't being watched closely outside. Pets & People Louie is very bonded with his brother Fritz. He is exceptionally sweet with his foster family and during transport, though he hasn't been tested with strangers yet. He loves attention and will playfully nip when he gets super excited, sometimes giving a drive-by foot lick. He is highly food motivated and can eat quickly, occasionally trying to push Fritz away from his food, so he requires supervision and guidance during mealtimes. This sweet 3-year-old long-haired red mix is game for just about anything life has to offer, as long as she gets to be part of it. Betsy came to Little Paws after the heartbreaking loss of her owner. She deserves nothing less than a loving forever home, and she's ready to pour every bit of her affection into the right family—she’s waiting with many kisses. Environment Betsy has moderate energy levels and loves her daily adventures. She happily keeps pace with big dogs on woodland walks and is a joy on leash. She'll need a securely fenced yard to roam and burn off that enthusiasm. She uses pee pads indoors and is still working toward fully outdoor potty habits, so patience and consistency will help her get there. S he is currently gated into a large area when left alone. When her foster leaves, she does protest. She's happiest with canine housemates around. Because she can be chatty, she'll do best in a home without shared walls. Betsy is also currently on a weight management plan; a combination of regular exercise and a weight control diet is already showing results, and she just needs to shed a few more pounds to reach her healthy weight. Her new family will want to keep that momentum going. Pets & People Betsy has settled into a multi-dog household. **Meet Maple! 🍁🐾** Small in stature, big on sweetness, and sporting the most irresistible little face, Maple is ready to find a family to call her own! Maple is a young, Dachshund-type mix who came to SDBP CT Rescue after being found as a stray and going unclaimed at Animal Control. She became our very first official Animal Control pull, and this little girl has already stolen quite a few hearts! Maple is an incredibly sweet and gentle girl, but she can be shy and timid when meeting new people or encountering unfamiliar situations. Once she begins to feel comfortable and realizes she's safe, her affectionate personality starts to shine through. She's the kind of dog who needs someone willing to earn her trust rather than rush her into situations she isn't quite ready for. **🍁 What we've learned about Maple so far:** Maple seems to enjoy the company of calmer dogs who respect her personal space. She can become uncomfortable when overly energetic or pushy dogs approach her too quickly, so any potential canine siblings would need to be thoughtfully matched and introduced at her pace. She's currently settling into her foster home, where we're continuing to learn more about her personality, preferences, and what makes her feel comfortable. **🏡 Maple's ideal forever home** We're looking for a patient, loving family who understands that building trust takes time. A relatively calm, predictable environment where Maple can settle in, establish a routine, and gain confidence would be wonderful for her. She may do well with another calm, respectful dog, but she could also enjoy being someone's one-and-only little companion. Her compatibility with cats and young children has not yet been established.
