Story
LUCKY IS IN HIS FOSTER HOME IN MEMPHIS, TN AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED TO CT ONCE HE IS ADOPTED!    Lucky is his name, and he has EARNED it. This parvo survivor is a 5-6 month old mixed breed puppy. His mom was a dachshund, and his dad is a complete guess. He is only 20 lbs, and we don't expect him to get much bigger. He loves other dogs and children, but Lucky is afraid of cats. He is working on house breaking with a few accidents here and there, but he is currently training being taken out often and especially after eating. He will pick it up soon! He loves balls and toys. His favorite thing to do is get up in your lap and cuddle when he is tired.   Lucky is fully vetted including neuter, microchip, puppy shots as well as rabies shot. His adoption fee of $550 includes the transport to CT. We use a licensed and registered USDA transport company that will bring Lucky up north after he is adopted.  To apply to adopt Lucky, go here:  http://www.newbeginningsanimalrescue.net .    Any Questions, email us at newbeginnings_animalrescue@yahoo.com .  THANK YOU FOR CONSIDERING ADOPTING A RESCUED PET!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 18, 2024, 10:27 pm

Story
Happy Gilmore is an 16 lb dachshund mix who we estimate to be between 13 and 14 years old. He was a stray, so his past life has made him very laid back. Although he is quiet, he knows exactly when you go to the kitchen and loves to follow you in hopes of a snack. Happy Gilmore is a sweet, chilled dude. And gets along with everyone including children and other dogs. A couch potato and a snoozer and will bark when you get home because gets excited to see you. He will happily sit next to you forever and only leaves when you get up. He goes to his bed every day when the sun goes down and sleeps through the night.    Environment Happy Gilmore is housetrained and understands “you want to go to potty”. He’s looking for a home with a fenced yard as that’s what he’s used to, and he likes to wander and sniff. He doesn’t really chase or dig, just likes to pootle around and come back inside once he’s done his business. Happy Gilmore would appreciate someone who doesn’t need to leave him alone too long, since he’s unknown on crate training. Shared walls are totally fine since he’s not super chatty.   Pets & People Happy Gilmore is great with people of all ages. He enjoys being petted and loved on, however, he doesn’t jump on and off the furniture and will need to be picked up. Happy Gilmore is good with other dogs and doesn’t have any issues with sharing treats or food despite his good appetite!    Training and Health Happy Gilmore has a grade six heart murmur and is heartworm positive, so he will need ongoing medication and to be kept comfortable. He willingly takes his medication because he’s such a foodie—and such a good boy, of course. He loves to go for a walk and see the sights and is very good on the leash.   Location Happy Gilmore is available for adoption from Milton, FL. He’s just fine in the car and is looking forward to a ride to his new home (hopefully very soon). *LITTLE PAWS HAS RECEIVED A GRANT TO HELP COVER HAPPY GILMORE’S PRESCRIPTIONS ANS ADOPTION FEE. Please email cindybuck44@yahoo.com for information. Please email cindybuck44@yahoo.com with any questions or complete an adoption application by clicking the button above. The adoption fee for Happy Gilmore is $200.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 19, 2024, 2:01 pm

Story
Daisy is a 14-year-old, quiet little girl with soulful eyes, who is bonded with Rufus. Both pups can take time to warmup, but once they know you, they are sweet and loving. Daisy is the more laidback of the two but can be led astray by her brother from time to time! They are on the search for a quiet home with experienced owners, and no young children. Environment Both are crate trained and house trained too. On walks there is too much stimulation for both pups, and they react anxiously to other dogs and people. As a result, they will need a fenced yard to get their exercise. They don’t necessarily need someone who works from home since they are fine in their crates, but they wouldn’t be suitable for doggy daycare or similar.   Pets & People Daisy can take time to warm up to new dogs. Any introductions to new dogs should be very slow and approached with love and patience. Separation should continue at mealtimes as she isn’t shy about taking other dogs’ food. With new people it’s a similar story—she needs time and patience. Once she accepts you, she just wants to be petted and loved. Health Daisy is deaf and has a heart murmur for which she is receiving palliative care. Rufus is important to her as her bonded partner and as her "emotional support animal". The cardiologist recommended a diet free of legumes (currently eats Royal Canin Mature Adult). Luckily, she takes her medicine very easily, but should be sedated for vet care or stressful situations.  Location Daisy and Rufus are available for adoption from Wheaton, MD. They are a little whiny in the car but will quiet down eventually.  Please email doxelovr@gmail.com with any questions or complete an adoption application at the link above. The adoption fee for Daisy has been waived due to her health and comfort care requirements.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 19, 2024, 2:01 pm

Story
Rufus is a 14-year-old dachshund who is bonded with Daisy. Both pups take time to warmup, but once they do, they are sweet and loving. They were rescued from a shelter and are in search of a quiet home with experienced owners, and no young children.   Environment Both are crate trained and house trained too. Rufus especially loves to run and sniff unfettered, whereas on walks there is too much stimulation for him and he reacts anxiously to other dogs and people. As a result, this pair will need a fenced yard to get their exercise. They don’t necessarily need someone who works from home since they are fine in their crates, but they wouldn’t be suitable for doggy daycare or similar.  They both enjoy snuggling in their beds and relaxing in a open crate.   Pets & People As mentioned before Rufus is slow to warmup and needs time to get to know other dogs. It could take several days for him to warm up so initially he may need separation from other animals. This should continue at meal times as he is a big eater, and isn’t shy about taking other dogs’ food. With new people it’s a similar story—he needs time and patience. However, once he becomes familiar, he will steal your heart with his beautiful face and loyal nature.  Location Rufus and sister Daisy are available for adoption from Wheaton, MD. Story
Howie is a spirited, 18lb dachshund mix currently residing in Germantown, MD. He is a little over eight years old and loves walks and belly rubs. He came to us due to a change of circumstances for his previous owner that meant they could no longer give him the time and attention he deserves. Howie has been well cared for and is looking for a new home with lots of love to give. Environment Howie is house-trained and crate trained. He’s very alert and does speak back if he hears noises so he won’t suit apartment living or shared walls. Howie loves to run around and explore his foster's yard, so a fenced yard would be great but is not mandatory. A leash is mandatory when Howie is not in a fenced yard. He’d be ok without someone home all day as long as he gets adequate attention in the evenings. Pets & People Howie is a little choosy around new friends and would most likely do best in a home with one person. In his foster home he gets on well and plays with one of the dogs but tries to dominate the other. Howie would be okay as an only dog. He isn’t particularly food protective, but he will snaffle any treat that enters his vicinity. Howie likes attention and jumps up a lot to get it and would likely knock over small children, but he does like children. Mostly he wants to say hi and be petted.  Health Howie is on medication for anxiety, and he takes it twice a day. Location Howie is available for adoption from Germantown, MD. Please email tristan14.L@verizon.net with any questions or complete an adoption application at the button above. The adoption fee for Howie is $275.00.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 19, 2024, 2:01 pm

Story
Meadow is a clever, curious, and playful ten-year-old girl. With the energy of a dog half her age, she explores, investigates, fetches, and zooms her way through life. She’s 10lbs of fun and love who finds herself looking for a new home after her previous owner could no longer afford to take care of a dog. Environment Meadow is fully crate trained and house trained if kept on a consistent routine. She will let you know when she needs to go outside by pacing around. When not in her exercise pen or sleeping in her bed, she is let out every couple of hours. She needs to have ample time to do her business, otherwise she will occasionally do the dachshund thing and poop inside.  Meadow needs a fenced yard to get her exercise so lots of 1:1 playtime in her own yard will be needed to stimulate her brain and tucker her out. She also enjoys taking long walks on leash and on occasion has been reactive to animals and people she encounters. Her favorite things to play are fetch and tug. She's also been known to help you “recycle” by tearing up her toys and bedding. Her foster mom has found that a long-lasting chew bone will deter this behavior and helps reduce her anxiety. Her new home will need to be one without shared walls as she’s quite communicative at times. Some of this energy likely comes from a place of anxiety and we’re hoping that once she’s settled this will improve. She will need time to adjust to a new home and will need to receive lots of positive encouragement and love to earn your trust. Pets & People Meadow loves her people but not new people and will take time to warm up when visitors arrive. However, she will calm down and allow affection after a while. She is fine with older, respectful dogs in her foster home. Health Meadow is on anti-anxiety medication and will ideally have people around more often than not to assuage her anxiety.  Location Meadow is available for adoption from Westminster, Maryland. Please email Arushfree@icloud.com with any questions or complete an adoption application at the button above. The adoption fee for Meadow is $200.00.
