Hoss and Little Joe Bio Please ensure you understand and can meet the needs of this bonded pair before applying.   Energy level: medium Potty training: Yes Fenced yard: yes, required Shared walls: not suitable  People: all Dogs: all  Other: bonded pair    Overview Looking for double the love and entertainment? Meet Hoss and Little Joe, a bonded pair of dachshund mixes who will fill your home with energy and affection.   Hoss is a 5-year-old white and tan boy who weighs 26 lbs, while Little Joe is a 3-year-old dark red pup who weighs 15 lbs. These two were found running loose in Columbia, SC and were never claimed. They're absolutely inseparable and must be adopted together—they're a package deal! Both boys are incredibly sweet and affectionate, and watching them interact is pure joy. When you ask "who wants to go outside?" the enthusiastic barking begins as they get so excited to run around together. Little Joe loves to wrestle Hoss while they're zooming around the yard, and it's the cutest thing you'll ever see. Environment Hoss and Little Joe need a fenced yard where they can run, play, and burn off their energy together. They are potty trained as long as taken out regularly and do not have accidents in the house. These boys are quite vocal—they love to bark when they're excited (especially about going outside) and when people approach—so a home without shared walls would be best. They can be left alone for a little while and do okay, though they're happiest when their people are around. Neither has been crate trained in their current foster home, so that's unknown territory. They love walks but need some leash training—they're enthusiastic but not quite polished yet. Pets & People Hoss and Little Joe absolutely love people. They bark as they approach new folks, but their tails are wagging the whole time and they're looking for pets and affection. They're the same way with strangers—all bark (literally) and lots of love. With other dogs, they needed a bit of time to adjust. For the first 2-3 days in their foster home, they barked at the resident dogs. By day 6, Little Joe decided he wanted to sit next to his foster mom on the couch. By day 10, Hoss joined them on the couch (though not quite ready to sit right next to her). By day 16, Hoss had claimed his own spot next to his foster mom. Once they warm up, they're wonderful with other dogs and would likely do well in a home with or without canine siblings. Both boys finish their food quickly but are respectful of other dogs who are still eating—no food guarding or pushiness. They can be a little snatchy when given treats, but they're working on being gentle and are making progress. Health & Special Needs Hoss and Little Joe are both on Hills Science Diet small bites weight management food to keep them at healthy weights. They also take fish oil capsules to help with their dry skin, which keeps their coats looking and feeling better.  Location Hoss and Little Joe are available for adoption from Greensboro, GA and both boys do fine in the car, they handled an hour-long car ride from Augusta to their foster home without any issues. Please email Pattyp@littlepawsdr.org with any questions or complete an adoption application at the button above. The adoption fee for Hoss and Little Joe is $325.00  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 7, 2026, 4:53 pm

Jackson Bio Please ensure you understand and can meet the needs of this dog before applying. &#226&#151&#143 Energy level: medium &#226&#151&#143 Potty training: pee pads (does not go outside) &#226&#151&#143 Fenced yard: not needed &#226&#151&#143 Shared walls: Barks when foster leaves for about 30 minutes; would do best with someone home more often than not  &#226&#151&#143 People: good with older children, shy at first with adults; protective of his foster mom &#226&#151&#143 Dogs: NEEDS COMPANION DOG  &#226&#151&#143 Other: currently requires GI diet, will need weight loss diet soon, good in car when in seatbelt  Overview Looking for a snuggly companion who will steal your heart? Jackson the dachshund might be your perfect match. Jackson is a 5-year-old piebald brown and white dachshund who weighs 19 lbs. He was surrendered by his previous family who had a baby on the way and felt they could not give him the attention he craves. And Jackson does love attention—he's the kind of pup who gets incredibly attached to his person and thrives on being close to you. He's also absolutely adorable when he gets excited about his leash, grabbing it in his mouth as if he is ready to walk himself (even though he's not much of a walker once you're actually outside). Environment Jackson is an indoor guy through and through. He is currently using pee pads and doesn't do his business outside, so he will need a family committed to continuing indoor potty solutions. The good news is he does not need a backyard and is quiet enough to be ok in a pet friendly home. He currently barks for a little bit when first left alone, but he’s settling in so we’re keeping an eye on the situation. Currently, we believe he would do best with someone that works from home. Jackson is very content and happy to lounge around the house and entertain himself. He loves using doggie stairs and would happily spend all day on the couch if you let him. He's a bit of a digger and can be quite curious, getting into things within reach, so keeping an eye on him is important. He is not a fan of being crated and will escape an X pen. Jackson doesn't need or want a crate for hanging out at home, and he enjoys short walks or playtime to keep him active without overdoing it. He is learning to love toys too!  Pets & People Jackson can be a bit shy when he first meets people, but once he warms up, he's a sweetheart. He does well with older children and will bond deeply with his family. With strangers, he takes his time to feel comfortable but isn't aggressive—just a little reserved and can be a bit protective at first. Jackson is wonderful with other dogs! He is curious about dogs he meets on walks and has spent time with another dog in his foster home, getting along beautifully and even following them around. He has been going to daycare with a foster family that has two dogs and he is flourishing. He will need a companion dog in his forever home. Health & Special Needs Jackson is currently on a GI diet to keep his tummy happy and will be transitioning to a weight loss diet in about a month. He was used to eating human food in his previous home and is still adjusting to dog food—wet food works better for him than dry, and he's not quite eating full meals yet. But when it comes to treats? He jumps up and down with pure excitement! Jackson tends to whine and scratch when crated during car rides and does better when in a dog seatbelt. Location Jackson is available for adoption from Miami, FL. Please email juliejohnson@littlepawsdr.org with any questions or complete an adoption application at the button above. The adoption fee for Jackson is $375.00.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 7, 2026, 4:53 pm

Please ensure you understand and can meet the needs of this dog before applying. - Energy level: medium - Potty training: trained - Fenced yard: preferred but not required - Shared walls: not suitable  - People: adults and older children only - Dogs: all - Other: must be fed separately Overview Looking for a sweet, snuggly companion who will shower you with affection? Uku might be the velcro dog you've been dreaming of. Uku is an 11.5-year-old purebred red dachshund with a gorgeous long coat that has a touch of wire texture. He weighs 16 lbs and is the definition of a sweet senior boy. He came to Little Paws after displaying food aggression with a new dog in his previous home and unfortunately biting a toddler on the belly during a food-related incident. This lovebug adores showing off his belly for rubs and has the most endearing snore. He's incredibly affectionate with his people and just wants to be your constant companion. Environment Uku has a medium activity level and loves his daily walks and playtime. He's fantastic on the leash and genuinely enjoys his walking adventures. A fenced yard would be nice for him but isn't essential if you're committed to regular walks. The good news: Uku is fully potty trained! His previous owners used belly bands, but his foster family stopped using them (except at nighttime) and he hasn't had any accidents. He's reliable and consistent with his house training. Uku hates his crate and thrives on being close to his people. He has separation anxiety and doesn't do well being left alone for long periods. When left by himself, he barks and whines, so he needs a home without shared walls. He would do wonderfully in a home where someone is around most of the time, or where he has another calm dog companion to help ease his anxiety when you need to step out. Uku is excited about car rides! He does great in the car, whether he's in a crate or on someone's lap (just not the driver's), and can handle long distances without any issues. Pets & People Uku is sweet and loving with adults and has shown no aggression toward his foster family, even around food. However, due to his history of biting a toddler during a food-related incident, he should not be placed in a home with young children. He's extremely food motivated and will stare and beg relentlessly if he thinks you have food. Young children with snacks in their hands could trigger his food drive, so a home with only adults or older children who understand boundaries around food is essential. With strangers, Uku is a gem! He was wonderful with all three transporters who helped bring him to his foster home, did great at the vet, and is friendly with neighbors. Once he knows you're not a threat, he's all about the love. Uku does well with other dogs and doesn't mind having a canine companion around. He likes to be near his foster sister but doesn't show much interest in playing—he's more of a low-key, parallel friend. Another calm dog in the home would actually benefit him by helping reduce his separation anxiety. Now, about food: Uku is VERY food motivated. He knows ‘sit’ and ‘down’ for treats and understands he gets a reward after going potty. When giving him treats, offer them in your palm and remind him to "be easy." He eats very quickly and has food aggression, so he must be fed separately from other animals. He will steal food or treats from other pets if given the chance. In his foster home, he hasn't shown any aggression toward people around food, but his resource guarding with other animals is something his new family needs to manage carefully. Location Uku is available for adoption from Hendersonville, NC. Please email twoodward77@yahoo.com with any questions or complete an adoption application at the button above. The adoption fee for Uku is $250.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 7, 2026, 4:53 pm

Bean Bio Please ensure you understand and can meet the needs of this dog before applying. Energy level: medium Potty trained: yes Fenced yard: not needed Shared walls: suitable People: all Dogs: No big dogs Other: needs companionship, may need dental work and potential soft food diet   Overview Looking for a playful, affectionate companion who gets the zoomies and loves to cuddle? Bean the dachshund might be your perfect match. Bean is a 6-year-old tri-color (white, black, and tan) short-haired dachshund who weighs 17.4 lbs. He was released by his previous owner due to concerns about his prey drive around their newborn baby. Bean is super playful and gets absolutely adorable zoomies when he's excited. When he winds down, he transforms into the sweetest cuddle bug who snores when he gets into a deep sleep. He loves squeaky toys and has a funny habit of stretching and dragging his back legs across anything in his path. Environment Bean is fully potty trained and doesn't need a backyard, making him a great fit for various living situations. He's quiet enough for a home with shared walls and loves walks—he's great on a leash and enjoys his daily outings. Bean is a companion dog who really thrives on being with his people. His crate is his happy place and he sleeps beautifully overnight, but he does struggle when left completely alone during the day. He's been left alone but spent most of the time anxious, only settling for about an hour. Bean would do best in a home where someone is around most of the time, works from home, or can bring him along. He's not suited for a family that's away for long hours regularly. Pets & People Bean is cautious when new guests first enter the home, but once he gets a sniff and realizes they're friendly, he's ready to play! Pro tip: if you give him a treat when you meet him, he'll love you forever. In public, he's very good with strangers who want to pet him—he's a little shy and anxious at first but absolutely loves the attention once he warms up. He licks almost everyone he meets! Bean is an only dog in his current foster home and has done better with small dogs he has met. On walks, he gets excited (not reactive) when he sees another dog approaching—no barking or timidity. At the vet, he was very calm with other dogs in the waiting room, sniffing nicely and being content. He's gentle when taking treats from humans and loves bones, which he'll take to a comfy spot to nibble.   Bean does wonderfully in the car in a dog seatbelt. He handled over 4 hours in the car on his journey to his foster home, sleeping most of the time and enjoying looking out the window. His future adopter could definitely take adventures with him. Health & Special Needs Bean had a dental and is currently eating soft food. He gets excited when he hears his food bag but is a grazer—he doesn't eat everything in one sitting and sometimes hasn't finished breakfast by dinnertime. His foster family is monitoring whether this is due to stress from adjusting or discomfort from his teeth, and they're trying softer food options to make eating easier for him.   Location Bean is available for adoption from North Charleston, SC. Please email juliejohnson@littlepawsdr.org with any questions or complete an adoption application at the button above. The adoption fee for Bean is $325.00.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 7, 2026, 4:53 pm

&#226&#151&#143 Energy level: low-moderate &#226&#151&#143 Potty trained: needs assistance &#226&#151&#143 Fenced yard needed: no &#226&#151&#143 Shared walls ok: no &#226&#151&#143 People: no young children &#226&#151&#143 Dogs: friendly with small dogs &#226&#151&#143 Other: special needs with mobility and bladder expression   Overview Meet Printz, a sweet 7-year-old red smooth coat dachshund who's looking for a special family to cherish him. At 17.2 pounds, this loving boy proves that good things come in medium packages! Despite facing some mobility challenges, Printz maintains a wonderfully positive attitude and has a heart full of love to share.   Environment Printz is seeking a patient and nurturing home where someone can be present most of the time, as he gets a bit anxious when left alone. While he's currently on crate rest due to a back injury and needs help with mobility, he still enjoys the simple pleasures in life. He does well walking with assistance using a sling and is perfectly content in homes without a yard. He's well-behaved in his crate when his family needs to step out, but he can be vocal so shared walls are probably not a good idea. His reasonable energy needs and gentle nature make him an excellent companion.   Pets & People Printz is a very loving dog who thrives on human connection and wants nothing more than to be near his person. While initially shy, he quickly warms up to show his affectionate personality. He's a social butterfly with other small dogs and does very well in multi-dog households but is untested with children or cats. Therefore, only applicants with older, considerate kids will be considered. He can be vocal around larger dogs, but this is likely due to his size and mobility situation. He is food aggressive and eats his meals and treats in his crate. He's happy to go in the crate and comes out when the other dogs in the home have finished their food. He will growl and nip if disturbed when he has food or a valued toy.    Health Printz has some special medical needs that require a dedicated family. He currently needs assistance with bladder and bowel expression due to his back injury. He can take trazodone as needed to help manage any discomfort or anxiety. His mobility requires some extra support, and he uses a sling to help him walk comfortably. These needs are manageable with the right care routine, and his sweet personality makes it all worthwhile.   Location Printz is available for adoption from Gastonia, NC. Due to his special needs, he would prefer a home within a reasonable driving distance, as he can find long car rides challenging. Please email autenlinda@yahoo.com with any questions or complete an adoption application at the button above. The adoption fee is $150.00  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 7, 2026, 4:53 pm
