Story
ALL our cats and dogs are in the NY area but can be adopted out of state to the purrfect furever home.  In some cases, we can help transport.  Zani's al fresco Summer Adoptions  follow us on FB to find us this summer as we will try new locations to meet the needs of NYC and support the little stores:)     Sweet 5m old Agnetha from Puerto Rico. All dogs are located in NY/NJ area All our puppies need puppy play dates/doggy facetime so we recommend homes with other pups or daily interactions to keep them tired out, happy and social.     Facebook: Zani's Furry Friends ZFF (weekly adoption event info posted there)Twitter: zanisff Instagram: zanisfurryfriends   Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD on age appropriate vaccines, Rabies vaxed, and microchipped (not Lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it!)  All are in the NY/NJ area but we will adopt out of state to the purrfect home and in some cases, we can arrange transport.  Please go to our site  https://zanisfurryfriends.org  fill out an application  Many of us (cats/dogs) will be on display on Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent--please ask by writing us at dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org and following us on FB. If you are seriously interested in adopting one of us in particular, please fill out an application early Friday so that we can be sure to be there. Otherwise we decide based on other variables. Usually we are in our foster homes so this is a bit more stressful and a slightly artificial environment but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes too.   Please consider providing a home for more than one dog, especially if you are considering adopting a puppy. Dogs are pack animals and very much enjoy as well as need other dog company to learn to play, socialize and be good companion animals to people. The upside to this is that you won't feel as guilty leaving them alone and you get twice the love. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer, and you can always donate! If you want to know about cats/dogs specifically being shown at our adoption locations, please email us info@zanisfurryfriends.org closer to the date so we know your interest and will make every effort to have that pet at the event or let you know how and where you can meet.  It is extemely helpful and speeds up adoption if the application is filled out prior to visiting us so please do that before coming to our weekend events. Our weekend locations are: Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent  Follow us on FB, Zani's Furry Friends ZFF, for latest updates. Usually we are in our foster homes so all this is a bit more stressful but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer. And you can always donate:) Cats and Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD w/ all age appropriate shots and microchipped. Cats are feline combo tested for FIV/FeLV; dogs are heartworm tested and rabies vax'd, (NOT lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it); rabbits are spayed/neutered. Please fill out an application and email to: For Cats: cats@zanisfurryfriends.org For Dogs: dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org For Rabbits: nyc.acc.rabbits@gmail.com. Please visit our website zanisfurryfriends.org.

He healed on his own inside a kennel. Because of how the bone healed, he has a slight limp, but he is not in pain. It is simply the way his body recovered. After his recovery, Brick was at risk of euthanasia. An animal lover stepped in and pulled him from the shelter, but the municipality warned that if he was returned to his territory, he would be euthanized. With no other safe option, the volunteer placed him in a paid boarding shelter. That was three years ago. Brick has been living there ever since. He is a sweet, calm boy who gets along well with everyone. He asks for very little and gives so much love in return. No dog deserves to spend their entire life waiting behind kennel doors. Brick may walk a little differently, but he is just as deserving of a home, a family, and a soft place to rest as any other dog. He is simply a good boy, and he has waited long enough. Story
Meet Star ✨ – a shy but soulful Chiweenie puppy ready to bloom Star is a 5½-month-old Chiweenie who came to us from a hoarding situation. Because of her past, she is understandably very shy at first and needs a patient, experienced home that will give her the time and space she needs to feel safe. Star tends to bond more quickly with women, and once she trusts you, she is incredibly gentle, sweet, and devoted—a true little shadow who wants nothing more than to be near her person. When she feels comfortable, her personality really shines. She loves chew toys, enjoys playing, and absolutely thrives in the company of other dogs. Having a confident, social dog in the home is a must for Star. A doggy role model helps her build confidence and learn the routine of home life. She is potty trained, crate trained, and is generally quiet, rarely barking. Star loves to run and play in the yard, so a securely fenced yard is required, as she is still working on leash training. Star would do best in a calm home with teens or adults only, where her boundaries can be respected and her confidence can continue to grow. If you’re looking for a special puppy to nurture—one who will reward your patience with deep loyalty and love—Star could be the perfect addition to your family. APPLY HERE: www.pprct.org

Jackson Bio Please ensure you understand and can meet the needs of this dog before applying. &#226&#151&#143 Energy level: medium &#226&#151&#143 Potty training: pee pads (does not go outside) &#226&#151&#143 Fenced yard: not needed &#226&#151&#143 Shared walls: Barks when foster leaves for about 30 minutes; would do best with someone home more often than not  &#226&#151&#143 People: good with older children, shy at first with adults; protective of his foster mom &#226&#151&#143 Dogs: all &#226&#151&#143 Other: currently requires GI diet, will need weight loss diet soon, good in car when in seatbelt  Overview Looking for a snuggly companion who will steal your heart? Jackson the dachshund might be your perfect match. Jackson is a 5-year-old piebald brown and white dachshund who weighs 21 lbs. He was surrendered by his previous family who had a baby on the way and felt they could not give him the attention he craves. And Jackson does love attention—he's the kind of pup who gets incredibly attached to his person and thrives on being close to you. He's also absolutely adorable when he gets excited about his leash, grabbing it in his mouth as if he is ready to walk himself (even though he's not much of a walker once you're actually outside). Environment Jackson is an indoor guy through and through. He is currently using pee pads and doesn't do his business outside, so he will need a family committed to continuing indoor potty solutions. The good news is he does not need a backyard and is quiet enough to be ok in a pet friendly home. He currently barks for a little bit when first left alone, but he’s settling in so we’re keeping an eye on the situation. Currently, we believe he would do best with someone that works from home. Jackson is very content and happy to lounge around the house and entertain himself. He loves using doggie stairs and would happily spend all day on the couch if you let him. He's a bit of a digger and can be quite curious, getting into things within reach, so keeping an eye on him is important. He is not a fan of being crated and will escape an X pen. Jackson doesn't need or want a crate for hanging out at home, and he enjoys short walks or playtime to keep him active without overdoing it. He is learning to love toys too!  Pets & People Jackson can be a bit shy when he first meets people, but once he warms up, he's a sweetheart. He does well with older children and will bond deeply with his family. With strangers, he takes his time to feel comfortable but isn't aggressive—just a little reserved and can be a bit protective at first. Jackson is wonderful with other dogs! He is curious about dogs he meets on walks and has spent time with another dog in his foster home, getting along beautifully and even following them around. He enjoys the company of canine friends and would do well in a home with or without another dog. Health & Special Needs Jackson is currently on a GI diet to keep his tummy happy and will be transitioning to a weight loss diet in about a month. He was used to eating human food in his previous home and is still adjusting to dog food—wet food works better for him than dry, and he's not quite eating full meals yet. But when it comes to treats? He jumps up and down with pure excitement! Jackson tends to whine and scratch when crated during car rides and does better when in a dog seatbelt. Location Jackson is available for adoption from Miami, FL. Please email juliejohnson@littlepawsdr.org with any questions or complete an adoption application at the button above. The adoption fee for Jackson is $375.00.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 30, 2026, 4:30 pm
