Lil bit  Lil Bit Bio Please ensure you understand and can meet the needs of this dog before applying. Energy level: high Potty training: pee pads Fenced yard: yes, required Shared walls: not suitable People: adults and older children Dogs: all Other: currently doing well on a weight management plan   Overview Lil Bit has a personality that fills any room she walks into. This sweet 2-year-old long-haired red mix is game for just about anything life has to offer, as long as she gets to be part of it. Lil Bit came to Little Paws after the heartbreaking loss of her owner. She deserves nothing less than a loving forever home, and she's ready to pour every bit of her affection into the right family—she’s waiting with many kisses.    Environment Lil Bit is high energy and loves her daily adventures. She happily keeps pace with big dogs on woodland walks and is a joy on leash. She'll need a securely fenced yard to roam and burn off that enthusiasm. She uses pee pads indoors and is still working toward fully outdoor potty habits, so patience and consistency will help her get there. She uses a pen rather than a crate and is comfortable in that setup. When her foster leaves, she does protest a bit vocally, but there's no destruction—she settles down, especially with the company of other dogs. She's happiest with canine housemates around. Because she can be chatty, she'll do best in a home without shared walls. Lil Bit is also currently on a weight management plan; a combination of regular exercise and a weight control diet is already showing results, and she just needs to shed a few more pounds to reach her healthy weight. Her new family will want to keep that momentum going.   Pets & People Lil Bit has settled beautifully into a multi-dog household with dogs of all ages and sizes. She's adaptable and social with her canine crew. With people, she can be wary when meeting strangers on the street, but bring her into a home environment and she does wonderfully. She does best with older children because she’s a very food-motivated girl and small hands holding snacks could be tempting for her.   Location Lil Bit is available for adoption from Fairmont, WV. Please email Juliejohnson@littlepawsdr.org with any questions or complete an adoption application at the button above. The adoption fee for Lil Bit is $375.00. Pearl Pearl Bio Please ensure you understand and can meet the needs of this dog before applying. Energy level: medium Potty training: in progress Fenced yard: yes, required Shared walls: suitable People: all Dogs: all; benefits from a calm companion Other: flight risk; skin condition being managed, Grade 2 heart murmur does not require medication    Overview Meet Pearl, a 6-year-old smooth black pure dachshund who is just now discovering what it means to be a beloved family dog. The whole concept of sofa naps, lap cuddles, and exploring the great outdoors is wonderfully new to her. Watching her figure it all out is, according to her foster, one of the most joy-filled things to witness. At 12 lbs of quiet, gentle sweetness, Pearl is learning to trust, learning to play, and slowly coming out of her shell. Every small step forward is a gift.   Environment Pearl is working on her housetraining and making real progress. She just thrives with a consistent routine. She needs walks of 15 to 30 minutes before she is ready to go, and she is still figuring out that grass is the preferred spot. Patience and predictability will help her flourish. Her crate is her sanctuary. She retreats there to nap, to hide her treats for private snacking later, and to feel safe, so having it accessible with the door open at all times is important. Pearl does not yet have a reliable threshold boundary and can be a flight risk, so a securely fenced yard is a must and doors should be managed carefully. She is quiet and calm indoors, making her perfectly suited to shared-wall living. Pearl is great in the car and travels comfortably in a crate.    Pets & People Pearl is shy and gentle when meeting new people, but she is wonderfully sweet once she feels safe. She loves being held and sitting in a lap. She just prefers the person to initiate rather than being scooped up unexpectedly. She rewards patience with deep affection. She lived with other dogs in her breeder home and does well with them. She would especially benefit from a calm, confident canine companion to help show her the ropes of dog life, toys, play, and all the good stuff she is still discovering. Pearl takes treats very gently, hides them in her blanket for later, and eats at her own quiet pace.   Health & Special Needs Pearl is currently being bathed every other day with a medicated shampoo to clear up a yeast and bacterial skin infection. She is a great sport about bath time. She also needs a low-carb, low-sugar diet to help keep the yeast in check, and oral medication may be added if needed. The current bath and diet routine is working well, and her new family will simply need to keep up this care regimen as she heals.   Location Pearl is available for adoption from Hendersonville, NC. Please email juliejohnson@littlepawsdr.org with any questions or complete an adoption application at the button above. The adoption fee for Pearl is $375.00.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 15, 2026, 3:15 pm

Story
Meet Ginger, a 1.5‑year‑old Dachshund mix with a tender heart and a gentle soul. She may be a bit shy with new people and needs some time to adjust to new environments, but once she feels safe, she becomes the sweetest little cuddle bug you could ever hope for. Ginger loves nothing more than to sit in your lap, relax by your side, or go for walks — as long as she’s with her person, she’s happy. She’s good with other dogs, enjoys their company, and would do well with a calm canine friend. Cats, however, tend to spark her barking instincts but does not hurt them, and young kids make her nervous, so a quieter home would help her thrive. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion who will bond deeply and cherish every moment by your side, Ginger is ready to give her whole heart to the right family. link to adopt: https://www.kcpetrescue.org/adoption-services.html
