Good with dogs, Needs experienced adopter,
Story
Located in Tennessee but can be transported to you through Rescue Riders. This girl was brought in with babies when her owner couldn't take care of her. She was not socialized very well so will need some work. She will need a very patient person to get her to come out of her shell. She was kept outside so she has no house manners, nor has she been with cats. She does do well with dogs her size and seems to like to play with them. She deserves a new chance to be a loved dog and companion. She will take a lot of time and investment but deserves a chance!

Please ensure you understand and can meet the needs of this dog before applying. Energy level: medium Potty trained: yes Fenced yard: preferred but not required Shared walls: suitable People: all Dogs: all Other: barks at cats, so a home without them is best Looking for an easygoing companion who loves to snuggle? Chewy the chiweenie might be your perfect match. Overview Chewy is a 9-year-old smooth-coated brown chiweenie who weighs 11 lbs. She was surrendered by her previous family due to circumstances unrelated to her behavior—she's simply a sweetheart looking for her next forever home. Chewy is the definition of easygoing: she gets along with everyone, loves to cuddle, and enjoys a good balance of activity and relaxation. She even does an adorable little stand on her back legs when she's excited for her favorite treats (Blue Buffalo Nudges Grillers, in case you were wondering). Environment Chewy is fully potty trained and does well both on leash walks and in a secure fenced area. While a fenced yard would be nice for her to roam and play safely (just make sure there are no gaps at the bottom where her small self could wiggle through), she's equally happy with leash walks. She loves her crate and will hop right in, especially if there's a treat involved. Chewy has been left alone for up to 8 hours in her crate without issue and does well in a home with shared walls—she's not a noisy neighbor. Because she's so small, her foster family recommends using a good harness for walks to keep her safe and secure. Pets & People Chewy is wonderful with both adults and children—no issues noted at all. She did great at the vet (a little scared, but no hostility), and while she hasn't had much exposure to strangers in her current foster home, her previous family reported she did fine with everyone, even a newborn infant. Chewy gets along beautifully with other dogs and hasn't shown any problems. She's gentle when taking treats, never snatchy or greedy, even when other dogs try to steal hers. She's also very food motivated, which makes her a joy to train. That said, Chewy does bark at cats, so a home without feline friends would be best for everyone's peace of mind. Location Chewy is available for adoption from Forest, VA. Please email stacyp@littlepawsdr.org with any questions or complete an adoption application at the button above. The adoption fee for Chewy is $325.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 17, 2026, 8:12 pm

Marly8 Bio Please ensure you understand and can meet the needs of this dog before applying. Energy level: low Potty training: belly band Fenced yard: preferred but not required Shared walls: no People: all Dogs: all Other: some separation anxiety   Overview Looking for a gentle soul who wants nothing more than to be by your side? Marley the blonde dachshund might be your perfect companion. Marley is a sweet 7-year-old purebred dachshund weighing 15 lbs with a beautiful blonde coat. He came to Little Paws as a surrender and is now searching for a loving home where he can feel safe and cherished. This affectionate boy is a true couch potato who loves nothing more than being petted and spending quiet time with his people. He's a sensitive soul with a gentle heart. Environment Marley has a low energy level and is very much a couch potato. While he loves walks, he doesn't require intense exercise—he's happy with leisurely strolls and lots of snuggle time. He's still learning leash manners but enjoys his walking adventures. For potty needs, Marley currently uses a belly band. A fenced yard would be helpful for him but isn't absolutely necessary if you're committed to regular potty breaks. Marley loves his crate and sees it as his safe haven. However, he thrives on companionship and can become anxious when left alone. He'll do best in a home where someone is around most of the time, or where he has another calm dog companion to keep him company. He's also quite nervous, especially when there's a lot of noise, so he needs a home without shared walls where he can feel secure in a quieter environment. Marley travels well in the car once he settles in, though he may be anxious at first. Pets & People Marley is good with people of all ages and is gentle with everyone he meets. He loves being petted and will soak up all the affection you can give him. With strangers, he's friendly once he's had a moment to adjust—he just needs a little time to feel comfortable in new situations. With other dogs, Marley is shy at first but does well once he's had time to warm up. He'd do wonderfully in a home with another calm, gentle dog who could be his buddy and help him feel more confident when his people need to step out. Marley has a normal relationship with food and treats—he enjoys them but isn't overly anxious or possessive about them. Health & Special Needs Marley is a healthy boy who will be having a dental cleaning to ensure his teeth are in great shape. Beyond routine care and his need for a calm, patient home that understands his anxiety, he doesn't have any special medical requirements. Location Marley is available for adoption from Miami, FL. Please email miamidachshundclub@gmail.com with any questions or complete an adoption application at the button above. The adoption fee for Marli is $325.00. Story
Ryce Puddin' Bio Please ensure you understand and can meet the needs of this dog before applying. Energy level: medium Potty training: in progress Fenced yard: preferred but not required Shared walls: suitable People: all ages, best with calmer children Dogs: prefers small/calm dogs (no big dogs) Other: no cats, strong prey drive Overview Looking for a spirited companion who's ready to wag her way into your heart? Ryce Puddin' might be the perfect addition to your family. Ryce Puddin' is a gorgeous long-haired chocolate and tan piebald dapple miniature dachshund who weighs 13 lbs and is about 7 years old. She came to Little Paws when her previous owner had to move to a smaller place and worked long hours—they wanted someone with more time to shower her with the love and attention she deserves. This sweet girl's tail is always wagging, especially when it's time for walks or meals. She's an active, happy little doxie who radiates pure joy at the simple pleasures in life. Environment Ryce Puddin' has a medium activity level and loves her daily walks and playtime. She's working on her potty training and does well going outside, though she still has occasional accidents indoors. She tries to use the pads but hasn't quite mastered them yet. A fenced yard would be wonderful for helping her complete her outdoor potty training journey, though it's not required if you're committed to regular walks. This girl absolutely loves her crate—it's her happy place! She'll go in on her own at bedtime and when you step out. Her previous owner crated her for up to 12 hours, so she's comfortable being alone, though we'd love to see her in a home where someone can spend more time with her. Because she's quite active for her age and loves to jump on and off furniture, she should be crated or in a playpen when left alone to keep her safe. This food-motivated girl loves her meals and treats! At breakfast and dinner, she waits patiently for her bowl with her tail wagging in pure happiness. She's very food motivated, which will make training a breeze, and she takes treats gently without being snatchy—though she'll definitely let you know she'd like more. Ryce Puddin' is a champion walker who loves her leash adventures. She's quiet enough for homes with shared walls and travels well in the car. Pets & People Ryce Puddin' is wonderful with people of all ages and does great with kids—her foster home has two boys aged 8 and 14 whom she adores. That said, she's not a fan of constant running and will bark if children are racing around the house, so she'd be best with calmer kids who can appreciate her sweet nature. When meeting new people, she may bark initially but warms up within minutes once she's had a chance to sniff and get acquainted.  With other dogs, Ryce Puddin' has some preferences. She's not a fan of large dogs—she pulls and barks when she sees bigger pups. She does much better with small, calm dogs. In her foster home, she took a little time to warm up to her foster sister (a 12-year-old terrier mix) but now they're good friends who go on walks together. She also loves her tiny dachshund foster sister Izzy, and they sometimes snuggle together. She's been fine with most of the foster home's visiting dogs, though she did grumble at a Pug who got too close.  Ryce Puddin' does not like cats and has a strong prey drive, so a cat-free home is a must but in a cat-like twist to her personality: she's not particularly cuddly, she appreciates affection but on her own terms. Location Ryce Puddin' is available for adoption from Miami, FL. She will be spayed and have a dental on 2/20. Please email carena12@aol.com with any questions or complete an adoption application at the button above. The adoption fee for Ryce Puddin' is $325.00. Story
Monty is literally a little old man. He isn’t actually “old” but he sure is living life on little legs. He definitely has a salt-and-pepper face and “retired gentleman” energy. His retirement dream is simple- a peaceful home, coziness, and a person who feels whole-heartedly that quality time is the best time, because it absolutely does! If Monty had a motto is would be “slow is the new fast.” Want to see his low-key vibes and tiny-leg strut in action? Head to YouTube for “Monty | Silver-Fox Snuggle Scout” https://youtu.be/3t1VGERHJ-c Monty is an older small-dog type, honestly his body gives big dog just shrunk down in a comically cute way. If you are going to corner us for a “breed” we might go with little lab/little pittie. Very official. He is estimated to be 8 years old and weighs 36 lbs (best guess, rescue rules apply). And don’t let the age or the little legs fool you- he gets around just fine, he just prefers life at his own pace, nice and slow. On walks, he does occasionally decide to insist on a break. Its easy enough to get him moving but it is also just as easy to take his lead and have a little break. He is trying to remind you that neither of you are training for a marathon. At heart, Monty is a sweet companion. He has showed us an especially side with little ones. He goes from the sweet snuggly moments into clearing space for a spontaneous cartwheel or Barbie Jeep take-off. He is even okay with a dress-up moment. We wouldn’t say he is down to be a “toy” dog, afterall our seniors deserve a little peace and quiet to rest, but he will be like the fun grandpa who drops into the party for a bit. We would recommend kids 5+ who can follow his lead and give him the gentle, easygoing treatment he’s earned along with understanding he needs sleep to recharge for the fun. For his ideal home, just between us, Monty would love to be in an only dog home. He has heard about how peaceful and full of love only-dog life is and since then he hasnt stopped dreaming. He has shown he can warm up and even gets moments of bouncy and playful energy but it is short short lived and moves right into “I’ll be over here smelling.” The only absolute is no cats. And again because he has earned it, we respect our elders. Monty’s hits: * Senior, calm, “let’s just be together” companion energy * Enjoys short strolls and yard sniffaris, not long hikes * Great, fun-grandpa energy with respectful kids (recommended 5+) * Would do great in an apartment or cozy home with understanding that he is not built for speed *No cats *Prefer solo-dog home If you’ve got a quiet home, a steady routine, and a soft spot for a sweet little gentleman who just wants to be near his person, Monty is ready to clock in for his retirement job: professional chill-advisor and easy-company. Story
Hoss and Little Joe Bio Please ensure you understand and can meet the needs of this bonded pair before applying.   Energy level: medium Potty training: pee pads Fenced yard: yes, required Shared walls: not suitable  People: all Dogs: all  Other: bonded pair    Overview Looking for double the love and entertainment? Meet Hoss and Little Joe, a bonded pair of dachshund mixes who will fill your home with energy and affection.   Hoss is a 5-year-old white and tan boy who weighs 26 lbs, while Little Joe is a 3-year-old dark red pup who weighs 15 lbs. These two were found running loose in Columbia, SC and were never claimed. They're absolutely inseparable and must be adopted together—they're a package deal! Both boys are incredibly sweet and affectionate, and watching them interact is pure joy. When you ask "who wants to go outside?" the enthusiastic barking begins as they get so excited to run around together. Little Joe loves to wrestle Hoss while they're zooming around the yard, and it's the cutest thing you'll ever see. Environment Hoss and Little Joe need a fenced yard where they can run, play, and burn off their energy together. They currently use pee pads for potty needs. These boys are quite vocal—they love to bark when they're excited (especially about going outside) and when people approach—so a home without shared walls would be best. They can be left alone for a little while and do okay, though they're happiest when their people are around. Neither has been crate trained in their current foster home, so that's unknown territory. They love walks but need some leash training—they're enthusiastic but not quite polished yet. Pets & People Hoss and Little Joe absolutely love people. They bark as they approach new folks, but their tails are wagging the whole time and they're looking for pets and affection. They're the same way with strangers—all bark (literally) and lots of love. With other dogs, they needed a bit of time to adjust. For the first 2-3 days in their foster home, they barked at the resident dogs. By day 6, Little Joe decided he wanted to sit next to his foster mom on the couch. By day 10, Hoss joined them on the couch (though not quite ready to sit right next to her). By day 16, Hoss had claimed his own spot next to his foster mom. Once they warm up, they're wonderful with other dogs and would likely do well in a home with or without canine siblings. Both boys finish their food quickly but are respectful of other dogs who are still eating—no food guarding or pushiness. They can be a little snatchy when given treats, but they're working on being gentle and are making progress. Health & Special Needs Hoss and Little Joe are both on Hills Science Diet small bites weight management food to keep them at healthy weights. They also take fish oil capsules to help with their dry skin, which keeps their coats looking and feeling better.  Location Hoss and Little Joe are available for adoption from Greensboro, GA and both boys do fine in the car, they handled an hour-long car ride from Augusta to their foster home without any issues. Please email Pattypandey19@gmail.com with any questions or complete an adoption application at the button above.
