Story
As a Rescue do not euthanize dogs but dogs that are listed as URGENT are still waiting to be saved from animal control and they do euthanise. We can only save them when space is available or have an adopter. Chico is a little dude that found his way back to the shelter after his owner had health issues He’s 6+years old, weighs 16#s, heartworm negative. He is neutered! Does better with calmer dogs but didn’t bother the cat. Seems to be house/crate trained! Could stand to loose a pound or two, he’s a bit of a pudding!

Please ensure you understand and can meet the needs of this dog before applying. Energy level: medium  Potty training: trained Fenced yard: preferred but not required Shared walls: not  People: all Dogs: all, loves cats too Other: senior with arthritis and old sternum injury, picky eater, soft food only Overview Looking for a sweet senior companion with plenty of personality? Coco the chocolate and cream dachshund might be your perfect prissy princess. Coco is a precious 13-year-old purebred dachshund with a gorgeous chocolate and cream coat. She weighs about 9 lbs and is working on gaining weight. This gentle girl came to Little Paws when her owner went into hospice care. Despite her senior status, Coco is sweet, gentle, prissy, and still playful! She's got spunk and character, and she'll let you know exactly what she thinks about things.  Environment Coco has a medium activity level and enjoys short walks and playtime. She's fully potty trained and loves her walks, doing beautifully on the leash. A fenced yard would be wonderful for her but isn't absolutely necessary if you're committed to regular outdoor time. This chatty girl is quite the conversationalist and isn't suited for homes with shared walls—she likes to make her opinions known! She doesn't love being crated, preferring the comfort of being close to her people. She can be left alone for a little while and does just fine. Coco is wonderful in the car and loves car rides, making her a great travel companion. Pets & People Coco is great with all people and has had no issues with strangers. She's friendly, social, and happy to meet new friends wherever she goes. With other animals, Coco is absolutely delightful. She loves dogs both big and small, and she even lived happily with two cats! Coco is a picky eater with specific dietary needs. She can't eat hard food and will likely need to have all her teeth removed soon, so she requires soft food only. If you keep her food consistent, her sensitive stomach does just fine. Health & Special Needs Coco has arthritis in her hip and an old sternum injury. Sometimes she'll yelp if these areas are touched the wrong way, so she needs gentle handling around those spots. She has a dramatic reaction to having her feet touched—she's not aggressive about it, but she will pout to let you know how she feels! She has a sensitive stomach, but as long as her food stays consistent, she does well. She's currently underweight and working on gaining a healthy amount. Coco also has a grade 1 heart murmur. Her medical needs are manageable with the right care, and she still has so much love and joy to give. A family experienced with senior dogs would be ideal for this special girl. Location Coco is available for adoption from Hendersonville, NC. Please email twoodward77@yahoo.com with any questions or complete an adoption application at the button above. The adoption fee for Coco is $250.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 10, 2026, 8:07 pm

Story
Looking for double the love? Meet Lili and Lulu, a bonded duo who will fill your home with kisses, cuddles, and endless entertainment.   Lili and Lulu are 3-4 year old dachshund mixes with gorgeous short red coats. Lili weighs 25.6 lbs and Lulu weighs 23.2 lbs (both are working on reaching healthier weights). These two are inseparable and must be adopted as a pair.   Lili is the confident leader of the pack—a huge lovebug who's always ready with kisses and attention. She's curious, easy-going, and loves to sniff everything on walks. Lulu is the smart, observant one who's initially more hesitant but incredibly sweet once she feels comfortable. She's energetic, playful, loves her toys, and is a devoted cuddler. Together, they play throughout the day, groom each other, and create the most beautiful bond you'll ever see.   Environment   These high-energy girls need daily walks and play sessions to stay happy and healthy. They're both fully potty trained and don't require a fenced yard, though outdoor time for exercise is important.   Lili is very sweet and gentle with people. She loves attention and is usually the first one to approach for pets and kisses. She had family visitors over and was friendly and happy the whole time.   Lulu likes attention and cuddles once she's warmed up to someone, but she's initially more hesitant with new people. They would do best with older, considerate children.   Pets & People With strangers, Lili sometimes does a "preventive bark" during walks—one or two barks as if to say "I'm here, stay back." Once she sees that her people know and trust the person, she becomes friendly and comes closer for greetings. Lulu can be hesitant with strangers and may take steps back, but once she sees her people trust someone, she'll approach and interact, eventually accepting pets.   The girls met another dachshund on a walk and did fine. During walks, Lili has strong reactions toward other animals—she pulls the leash and is eager to get closer, requiring redirection. She's done the "preventive bark" at stranger dogs from a distance. Lulu doesn't pay much attention to other dogs. Both girls have prey drive and will need experienced owners who can work on their leash reactivity.   Health Both girls will benefit from continued training, particularly around leash manners and reactivity. An experienced adopter who can provide structure, patience, and positive reinforcement will help these sisters thrive.   Location Lili and Lulu are available for adoption from Coral Springs, FL. Please email virginiabyron20@gmail.com with any questions or complete an adoption application at the button above. The combined adoption fee for Lili and Lulu is $600.00.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 9, 2026, 7:43 pm

They're both fully potty trained and don't require a fenced yard, though outdoor time for exercise is important.   Both girls love their crate—it's their happy place! They do beautifully when left in a pen with their crate and bed inside. They're not overly noisy, making them suitable for homes with shared walls.   Lili and Lulu both love walks but will need patient adopters committed to working on their leash manners. They do well in the car, whether traveling in their crate or in booster seats. Lulu particularly gets excited about car rides.   Pets & People   Lili is very sweet and gentle with people. She loves attention and is usually the first one to approach for pets and kisses. Lulu can be hesitant with strangers and may take steps back, but once she sees her people trust someone, she'll approach and interact, eventually accepting pets.   Important to note: Lili has a prey drive and could become overprotective over her humans (possible resource guarding). Lulu barks at random sudden noises out of fear (just a couple of barks), which has occasionally woken her foster family in the middle of the night.   Health & Special Needs   Both girls will benefit from continued training, particularly around leash manners and reactivity. Story
***OPIE AND PEARL ARE LOCATED AROUND THE FITZWILLIAM, NH IN A FOSTER HOME AND ADOPTER/APPLICANT MUST BE WILLING TO DRIVE TO THE AREA TO MEET/PICK UP*** Opie and Pearl are 2 gorgeous chi/terrier mix pups that are as sweet as can be. Opie is the male and he weighs approximately 16 lbs. Pearl is the female, and she weighs right at 10 lbs. We believe they were born around September 30th, which will put them around 5.5 months old. We do not believe they will get much bigger than they are now as they have already hit their growth spurt. They are siblings, and they do get along wonderfully, but we do not require them to be adopted together. But if you’re looking for 2 pups, these 2 would make a wonderful pair also. One of our volunteers was driving down the road in Texas, by the Mexico border, when these 2 puppies ran out in the road and almost got ran over. They were not street smart. Our volunteer followed the puppies and found the home they belonged to. We found out these 2 puppies (and the momma dog) belonged to a couple who had gotten them for their adult autistic son. The puppies and mom had never seen a veterinarian, and they did not have a fence to secure them, so they would just open the door and let the dogs out to go running the streets and neighborhood. Thankfully, they agreed to surrender the puppies to us, but unfortunately, they would not let us have the mom. The mom weighed around 18 lbs. These pups are very sweet and start wiggling their butts when they become comfortable with you, which doesn’t take long. They love rolling over for tummy rubs and just melt into you. Opie is much more outgoing and is just a little energizer bunny. He loves everyone and everything. He barrels into every room like that room was made specifically for him. The foster describes it as Opie needs to work on his entry; He pounces all over the bed when he announces his arrival. Opie would be perfect for a home that is more a bit more active and wants a dog to go on adventures, play with their children. Don’t be fooled though, Opie loves his cuddles! Pearl is much gentler than Opie. She wants to be next to you and in your lap, curled up and cuddling with you. Pearl loves to be your shadow and be as close to you as you can be. She would prefer someone home more than not. She doesn’t need as much exercise as Opie does, but she does get into her own little mischief. Pearl would be better for someone with slightly older children that are well-behaved and kind. They are both very curious pups and love exploring and learning new things. While they are quite different, they are like ying and yang, their personalities just mesh well, and they get along amazing together and love to cuddle with each other. Both Opie and Pearl do wonderful with other dogs and are currently fostered with 3 other small breed adult dogs. They have met cats and do fine with them. They have toys and enjoy playing with them, but they enjoy mischief a little bit more. When they are in their crate, they think the best game is which one can pull more stuff into the crate from outside of the crate. Pearl and Opie love sleeping on the bed/couch! They are crate trained, and working on full house training. If you’re looking for a smaller dog that doesn’t shed too much, enjoy being held, will be the most loyal companions and follow you everywhere and cuddle when you let them, please look no further than Opie or Pearl. These babies are FIXED (spayed/neutered), current on all 4 series of parvo/distemper vaccinations, current on bordatella, current on annual rabies vaccine, current on flea/tick and heart worm prevention, current on dewormer, microchipped, fecal test is negative, and have received a clean bill of health from a veterinarian. The adoption fee also includes the transport from Texas (where they came from) to the Northeast. To apply to adopt you can go to our website at: www.pawsitive-Impact-animal-rescue.org

Story
Hoss and Little Joe Bio Please ensure you understand and can meet the needs of this bonded pair before applying.   Energy level: medium Potty training: Yes Fenced yard: yes, required Shared walls: not suitable  People: all Dogs: all  Other: bonded pair    Overview Looking for double the love and entertainment? Meet Hoss and Little Joe, a bonded pair of dachshund mixes who will fill your home with energy and affection.   Hoss is a 5-year-old white and tan boy who weighs 26 lbs, while Little Joe is a 3-year-old dark red pup who weighs 15 lbs. These two were found running loose in Columbia, SC and were never claimed. They're absolutely inseparable and must be adopted together—they're a package deal! Both boys are incredibly sweet and affectionate, and watching them interact is pure joy. When you ask "who wants to go outside?" the enthusiastic barking begins as they get so excited to run around together. Little Joe loves to wrestle Hoss while they're zooming around the yard, and it's the cutest thing you'll ever see. Environment Hoss and Little Joe need a fenced yard where they can run, play, and burn off their energy together. They are potty trained as long as taken out regularly and do not have accidents in the house. These boys are quite vocal—they love to bark when they're excited (especially about going outside) and when people approach—so a home without shared walls would be best. They can be left alone for a little while and do okay, though they're happiest when their people are around. Neither has been crate trained in their current foster home, so that's unknown territory. They love walks but need some leash training—they're enthusiastic but not quite polished yet. Pets & People Hoss and Little Joe absolutely love people. They bark as they approach new folks, but their tails are wagging the whole time and they're looking for pets and affection. They're the same way with strangers—all bark (literally) and lots of love. With other dogs, they needed a bit of time to adjust. For the first 2-3 days in their foster home, they barked at the resident dogs. By day 6, Little Joe decided he wanted to sit next to his foster mom on the couch. By day 10, Hoss joined them on the couch (though not quite ready to sit right next to her). By day 16, Hoss had claimed his own spot next to his foster mom. Once they warm up, they're wonderful with other dogs and would likely do well in a home with or without canine siblings. Both boys finish their food quickly but are respectful of other dogs who are still eating—no food guarding or pushiness. They can be a little snatchy when given treats, but they're working on being gentle and are making progress. Health & Special Needs Hoss and Little Joe are both on Hills Science Diet small bites weight management food to keep them at healthy weights. They also take fish oil capsules to help with their dry skin, which keeps their coats looking and feeling better.  Location Hoss and Little Joe are available for adoption from Greensboro, GA and both boys do fine in the car, they handled an hour-long car ride from Augusta to their foster home without any issues. Please email Pattyp@littlepawsdr.org with any questions or complete an adoption application at the button above. The adoption fee for Hoss and Little Joe is $325.00  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 7, 2026, 4:53 pm
