Story
Located in Tennessee but can be transported to you through Rescue Riders. This girl was brought in with babies when her owner couldn't take care of her. She was not socialized very well so will need some work. She will need a very patient person to get her to come out of her shell. She was kept outside so she has no house manners, nor has she been with cats. She does do well with dogs her size and seems to like to play with them. She deserves a new chance to be a loved dog and companion. She will take a lot of time and investment but deserves a chance!

Bean Bio Please ensure you understand and can meet the needs of this dog before applying. Energy level: medium Potty trained: yes Fenced yard: not needed Shared walls: suitable People: all Dogs: No big dogs Other: needs companionship, may need dental work and potential soft food diet   Overview Looking for a playful, affectionate companion who gets the zoomies and loves to cuddle? Bean the dachshund might be your perfect match. Bean is a 6-year-old tri-color (white, black, and tan) short-haired dachshund who weighs 17.4 lbs. He was released by his previous owner due to concerns about his prey drive around their newborn baby. Bean is super playful and gets absolutely adorable zoomies when he's excited. When he winds down, he transforms into the sweetest cuddle bug who snores when he gets into a deep sleep. He loves squeaky toys and has a funny habit of stretching and dragging his back legs across anything in his path. Environment Bean is fully potty trained and doesn't need a backyard, making him a great fit for various living situations. He's quiet enough for a home with shared walls and loves walks—he's great on a leash and enjoys his daily outings. Bean is a companion dog who really thrives on being with his people. His crate is his happy place and he sleeps beautifully overnight, but he does struggle when left completely alone during the day. He's been left alone but spent most of the time anxious, only settling for about an hour. Bean would do best in a home where someone is around most of the time, works from home, or can bring him along. He's not suited for a family that's away for long hours regularly. Pets & People Bean is cautious when new guests first enter the home, but once he gets a sniff and realizes they're friendly, he's ready to play! Pro tip: if you give him a treat when you meet him, he'll love you forever. In public, he's very good with strangers who want to pet him—he's a little shy and anxious at first but absolutely loves the attention once he warms up. He licks almost everyone he meets! Bean is an only dog in his current foster home and has done better with small dogs he has met. On walks, he gets excited (not reactive) when he sees another dog approaching—no barking or timidity. At the vet, he was very calm with other dogs in the waiting room, sniffing nicely and being content. He's gentle when taking treats from humans and loves bones, which he'll take to a comfy spot to nibble.   Bean does wonderfully in the car in a dog seatbelt. He handled over 4 hours in the car on his journey to his foster home, sleeping most of the time and enjoying looking out the window. His future adopter could definitely take adventures with him. Health & Special Needs Bean had a dental and is currently eating soft food. He gets excited when he hears his food bag but is a grazer—he doesn't eat everything in one sitting and sometimes hasn't finished breakfast by dinnertime. His foster family is monitoring whether this is due to stress from adjusting or discomfort from his teeth, and they're trying softer food options to make eating easier for him.   Location Bean is available for adoption from North Charleston, SC. Please email juliejohnson@littlepawsdr.org with any questions or complete an adoption application at the button above. The adoption fee for Bean is $325.00.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 24, 2026, 2:31 pm

PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.2/22/26 Meet Sarah! If you are looking for a good, medium size dog, she might the one for you!&#226&#158&#161&#239&#184&#143Dachshund mix (mom was dachshund. Dad unknown.) She is not built like a dachshund. &#226&#158&#161&#239&#184&#143housetrained&#226&#158&#161&#239&#184&#143good with dogs, cats, kids&#226&#158&#161&#239&#184&#14330 lbs, 2 years oldFor most people and hopefully their pets, Christmas is a time of fun, family togetherness, and joy. For Sarah, this past Christmas was filled with fear, cold, hunger, and loneliness. You see, right before the holidays, Sarah's family moved. Sarah did everything right. She was a good girl. She watched excitedly as they loaded all of their most treasured possessions on the truck, and drove away. They didn't even tell her goodbye. She thought they would be back to get her, so she waited. And waited. And waited. Days turned into weeks and they never returned. What should have been their most valued possession, was simply discarded like garbage. They didn't even care enough about her to give her a name, only calling her 'Little Dog.' Thankfully, a kind hearted neighbor scooped her up before she could freeze. The neighbor has been workiing with her, teaching her how to be a dog. Most importantly, they are teaching her that she is valued and safe. This is what her foster (the neighbor) said about her:'She’s house broken and has good manners, very people and food oriented, and I had no issues bringing her in despite the signs of abuse I could see. There was a short adjustment period with my other two dogs, but after maybe a day she loved them. She plays and cuddles with both my big and small dogs. She loves cats and is actually very good with them. She also LOVES to snuggle with people. Her previous owner had a child and she seemed to be good with them as well. She is shy with new people at first, but is easily won over with treats and kindness. She has not shown any aggression at all, she would just try to hide at first, until she realized she was safe. Once comfortable, she will be your shadow if you let her.' She is spayed, UTD on vaccines, and on flea/tick and heartworm prevention.  Sarah is located in Arkansas. She can be adopted locally, but transport is available to the New England area as well. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them in PA, NY, or CT on Saturdays. To apply, please fill out the adoption app: https://form.jotform.com/212690945239059 email apps.aasr@gmail.com with any questions.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Our typical adoption fee for puppies younger than 6 months old is $400, and for older puppies and adults, the usual fee is $350. Story
Please ensure you understand and can meet the needs of this dog before applying. - Energy level: medium - Potty training: trained - Fenced yard: preferred but not required - Shared walls: not suitable  - People: adults and older children only - Dogs: all - Other: must be fed separately Overview Looking for a sweet, snuggly companion who will shower you with affection? Uku might be the velcro dog you've been dreaming of. Uku is an 11.5-year-old purebred red dachshund with a gorgeous long coat that has a touch of wire texture. He weighs 16 lbs and is the definition of a sweet senior boy. He came to Little Paws after displaying food aggression with a new dog in his previous home and unfortunately biting a toddler on the belly during a food-related incident. This lovebug adores showing off his belly for rubs and has the most endearing snore. He's incredibly affectionate with his people and just wants to be your constant companion. Environment Uku has a medium activity level and loves his daily walks and playtime. He's fantastic on the leash and genuinely enjoys his walking adventures. A fenced yard would be nice for him but isn't essential if you're committed to regular walks. The good news: Uku is fully potty trained! His previous owners used belly bands, but his foster family stopped using them (except at nighttime) and he hasn't had any accidents. He's reliable and consistent with his house training. Uku hates his crate and thrives on being close to his people. He has separation anxiety and doesn't do well being left alone for long periods. When left by himself, he barks and whines, so he needs a home without shared walls. He would do wonderfully in a home where someone is around most of the time, or where he has another calm dog companion to help ease his anxiety when you need to step out. Uku is excited about car rides! He does great in the car, whether he's in a crate or on someone's lap (just not the driver's), and can handle long distances without any issues. Pets & People Uku is sweet and loving with adults and has shown no aggression toward his foster family, even around food. However, due to his history of biting a toddler during a food-related incident, he should not be placed in a home with young children. He's extremely food motivated and will stare and beg relentlessly if he thinks you have food. Young children with snacks in their hands could trigger his food drive, so a home with only adults or older children who understand boundaries around food is essential. With strangers, Uku is a gem! He was wonderful with all three transporters who helped bring him to his foster home, did great at the vet, and is friendly with neighbors. Once he knows you're not a threat, he's all about the love. Uku does well with other dogs and doesn't mind having a canine companion around. He likes to be near his foster sister but doesn't show much interest in playing—he's more of a low-key, parallel friend. Another calm dog in the home would actually benefit him by helping reduce his separation anxiety. Now, about food: Uku is VERY food motivated. He knows ‘sit’ and ‘down’ for treats and understands he gets a reward after going potty. When giving him treats, offer them in your palm and remind him to "be easy." He eats very quickly and has food aggression, so he must be fed separately from other animals. He will steal food or treats from other pets if given the chance. In his foster home, he hasn't shown any aggression toward people around food, but his resource guarding with other animals is something his new family needs to manage carefully. Location Uku is available for adoption from Hendersonville, NC. Please email twoodward77@yahoo.com with any questions or complete an adoption application at the button above. The adoption fee for Uku is $250.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 20, 2026, 9:10 pm

Ryce Puddin' Bio Please ensure you understand and can meet the needs of this dog before applying. Energy level: medium Potty training: in progress Fenced yard: preferred but not required Shared walls: suitable People: all ages, best with calmer children Dogs: prefers small/calm dogs (no big dogs) Other: no cats, strong prey drive Overview Looking for a spirited companion who's ready to wag her way into your heart? Ryce Puddin' might be the perfect addition to your family. Ryce Puddin' is a gorgeous long-haired chocolate and tan piebald dapple miniature dachshund who weighs 13 lbs and is about 7 years old. She came to Little Paws when her previous owner had to move to a smaller place and worked long hours—they wanted someone with more time to shower her with the love and attention she deserves. This sweet girl's tail is always wagging, especially when it's time for walks or meals. She's an active, happy little doxie who radiates pure joy at the simple pleasures in life. Environment Ryce Puddin' has a medium activity level and loves her daily walks and playtime. She's working on her potty training and does well going outside, though she still has occasional accidents indoors. She tries to use the pads but hasn't quite mastered them yet. A fenced yard would be wonderful for helping her complete her outdoor potty training journey, though it's not required if you're committed to regular walks. This girl absolutely loves her crate—it's her happy place! She'll go in on her own at bedtime and when you step out. Her previous owner crated her for up to 12 hours, so she's comfortable being alone, though we'd love to see her in a home where someone can spend more time with her. Because she's quite active for her age and loves to jump on and off furniture, she should be crated or in a playpen when left alone to keep her safe. This food-motivated girl loves her meals and treats! At breakfast and dinner, she waits patiently for her bowl with her tail wagging in pure happiness. She's very food motivated, which will make training a breeze, and she takes treats gently without being snatchy—though she'll definitely let you know she'd like more. Ryce Puddin' is a champion walker who loves her leash adventures. She's quiet enough for homes with shared walls and travels well in the car. Pets & People Ryce Puddin' is wonderful with people of all ages and does great with kids—her foster home has two boys aged 8 and 14 whom she adores. That said, she's not a fan of constant running and will bark if children are racing around the house, so she'd be best with calmer kids who can appreciate her sweet nature. When meeting new people, she may bark initially but warms up within minutes once she's had a chance to sniff and get acquainted.  With other dogs, Ryce Puddin' has some preferences. She's not a fan of large dogs—she pulls and barks when she sees bigger pups. She does much better with small, calm dogs. In her foster home, she took a little time to warm up to her foster sister (a 12-year-old terrier mix) but now they're good friends who go on walks together. She also loves her tiny dachshund foster sister Izzy, and they sometimes snuggle together. She's been fine with most of the foster home's visiting dogs, though she did grumble at a Pug who got too close.  Ryce Puddin' does not like cats and has a strong prey drive, so a cat-free home is a must but in a cat-like twist to her personality: she's not particularly cuddly, she appreciates affection but on her own terms. Location Ryce Puddin' is available for adoption from Miami, FL. She will be spayed and have a dental on 2/20. Please email carena12@aol.com with any questions or complete an adoption application at the button above. The adoption fee for Ryce Puddin' is $325.00.
