Story
> Fully vetted, hw neg, 2 yrs, 20 lbs. Meet Aunsley! She loves to be held, an amazing cuddler. She adores attention and is wonderful with everyone she meets. She was a wonderful momma and now it’s her turn to be cherished. She does great with children. She is ok with other dogs, not reactive or aggressive just prefers to be the light of her family’s life. She is lower energy and prefers cuddling on the couch or in your lap. > She came into rescue with a ruptured eye and somehow in spite of her injury, took great care of her babies. We were unable to save the eye, however it does not affect her silly playful loving nature. > Ainsley is spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. All dogs 6 month + receive a Proheart 6 injection at the time of their heartworm test. This provides heartworm prevention for 6 months from the time of that injection. This dog has tested ****** for heartworms. The adoption fee is $450 if your adoption is prepaid and final prior to your dog's arrival. An additional $50 will be charged on dogs that are adopted at an event, or foster home. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with CT HB 5368. WANT TO MEET OUR DOGS IN PERSON? Check the Events tab on cprdogs.com for all weekend adoption event info. The majority of the dogs marked as 'meet me' will be there to see you! If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at our Woburn MA isolation facility. Your new family member will be dropped off by our transport on Thursday and will be ready for you to pick him/her up on Saturday between 11 am-1 pm. An additional $100 fee will be added for any dogs picked up from the Woburn MA quarantine facility. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with MA Order 405-CD-12 and Order 1-AHO-05. TO APPLY PLEASE GO TO www.cprdogs.com. If your application was successfully submitted you will get a confirmation. Please DO NOT USE the ADOPTAPET "CONTACT THIS RESCUE GROUP" form below or you may not hear from us as these often end up in spam or bouncing back. Minnie (Minerva) Bio   Please ensure you understand and can meet the needs of this dog before applying.   • Energy level: medium • Potty training: in progress/pads • Fenced yard: not needed • Shared walls: suitable • People: calm adults and older children • Dogs: all • Other: Minnie has a heart condition that requires monitoring but no medication at this time; mild IVDD, special diet for pancreatitis   Overview   Looking for a gentle companion who’ll stick by your side? Minnie the senior dachshund might be the velcro pup you’ve been looking for.   Minnie is a sweet, determined little lady with black and white coloring. Her estimated age is about 11 years old and weighs just under 8 lbs. She was found wandering alone in a parking lot in Little Havana, and a kind person got her checked out by a vet and groomed before she came to Little Paws.   Environment   Minnie is a calm, easygoing girl who loves her daily walks and gets excited the moment she hears the leash. She’s still learning the pee pad routine and does well most of the time, though she has occasional accidents. She sleeps peacefully through the night and can be left alone for short periods—she’ll pace a bit, relax on the couch, then pace again. Crate training hasn’t been needed as she’s been comfortable and well-behaved without one.   Pets & People   Minnie is gentle and enjoys being around people, especially when there’s quiet affection involved. She’s very easygoing with strangers, both at home and in public. She gets along beautifully with other dogs and even likes to share a bed with her foster sister. But fair warning: she’s very food-motivated and can be a bit of a food thief if given the chance!   Health   Minnie has Stage B1 (mild) mitral regurgitation secondary to chronic valvular disease. She doesn’t require any heart medication at this time, but she will need periodic re-checks with her veterinarian to ensure her condition remains stable. She has received the care of a neurologist for mild IVDD, where she was prescribed meds and rest. Minnie eats a special low fat diet to control pancreatitis.   Location   Minnie is available for adoption from Doral, FL and she’s very calm in the car, usually falling asleep during rides. Please email cory_wg@hotmail.com with any questions or complete an adoption application at the button above. The adoption fee for Minnie is $250.00. Story
Overview   Meet Shadow, a handsome 5-year-old, 14 lb miniature dachshund with a soulful gaze and a deep devotion to his person. Shadow came to Little Paws Dachshund Rescue after his owner made the difficult decision to surrender him in hopes of finding him the right home. Shadow is a classic “velcro doxie” — loyal, affectionate, and happiest when curled up on the couch beside his human. He’s not a big walker and prefers closeness over adventure, often standing gently on his person just to be near. Once he bonds, Shadow is incredibly loving and thrives on companionship.   Environment   Shadow does well in a calm, predictable environment with structure and routine. He sleeps comfortably in a kennel overnight and settles best when distractions are limited. While he enjoys short walks, he is still gaining confidence outdoors and currently does best with a combination of potty pads and outdoor breaks. He has begun to sniff and explore more outside and has shown improvement with regular exposure. Shadow can be vocal when people pass in hallways or past his home and may bark when unfamiliar individuals enter his space. He shows some anxiety when his person prepares to leave, so confidence building exercises would be ideal for him. He has also shown great progress in meeting and being around new people. While his initial reaction is reactivity, with an appropriate introduction along with treats he will ultimately end up in their lap too. He enjoys playtime and has been known to get the zoomie, and he recently started playing with his foster dog sibling, which is a great sign that his confidence is growing.   Pets & People   Shadow is best suited for an adult-only home. He can be reactive to unfamiliar people, especially when surprised or when they enter his space, and he will communicate discomfort by barking or posturing. Because of this, he needs an adopter who understands canine body language and is comfortable managing introductions and advocating for his space. With other dogs, Shadow does well and has shown positive social behavior, especially when following the lead of calm, confident dogs. He would be happy as an only dog or in a home with another friendly dog. Shadow is extremely affectionate with his person and bonds deeply. He wants to be close, cuddled, and included — once trust is built, his loyalty truly shines.   Health   Shadow is generally healthy and has recently started fluoxetine to help manage reactivity and anxiety as he continues to adjust and build confidence. He has no other known health concerns at this time. Continued positive-reinforcement training and consistent routines will help him thrive.   Location   Shadow is available for adoption from Edgewater, NJ. Please email jemmaallenny@gmail.com  with any questions or complete an adoption application at the button above. The adoption fee for Shadow is $375Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 15, 2025, 5:57 pm

&#226&#151&#143 Energy level: low-moderate &#226&#151&#143 Potty trained: needs assistance &#226&#151&#143 Fenced yard needed: no &#226&#151&#143 Shared walls ok: no &#226&#151&#143 People: no young children &#226&#151&#143 Dogs: friendly with small dogs &#226&#151&#143 Other: special needs with mobility and bladder expression   Overview Meet Printz, a sweet 7-year-old red smooth coat dachshund who's looking for a special family to cherish him. At 17.2 pounds, this loving boy proves that good things come in medium packages! Despite facing some mobility challenges, Printz maintains a wonderfully positive attitude and has a heart full of love to share.   Environment Printz is seeking a patient and nurturing home where someone can be present most of the time, as he gets a bit anxious when left alone. While he's currently on crate rest due to a back injury and needs help with mobility, he still enjoys the simple pleasures in life. He does well walking with assistance using a sling and is perfectly content in homes without a yard. He's well-behaved in his crate when his family needs to step out, but he can be vocal so shared walls are probably not a good idea. His reasonable energy needs and gentle nature make him an excellent companion.   Pets & People Printz is a very loving dog who thrives on human connection and wants nothing more than to be near his person. While initially shy, he quickly warms up to show his affectionate personality. He's a social butterfly with other small dogs and does very well in multi-dog households but is untested with children or cats. Therefore, only applicants with older, considerate kids will be considered. He can be vocal around larger dogs, but this is likely due to his size and mobility situation. He is food aggressive and eats his meals and treats in his crate. He's happy to go in the crate and comes out when the other dogs in the home have finished their food. He will growl and nip if disturbed when he has food or a valued toy.    Health Printz has some special medical needs that require a dedicated family. He currently needs assistance with bladder and bowel expression due to his back injury. He can take trazodone as needed to help manage any discomfort or anxiety. His mobility requires some extra support, and he uses a sling to help him walk comfortably. These needs are manageable with the right care routine, and his sweet personality makes it all worthwhile.   Location Printz is available for adoption from Gastonia, NC. Due to his special needs, he would prefer a home within a reasonable driving distance, as he can find long car rides challenging. Please email autenlinda@yahoo.com with any questions or complete an adoption application at the button above. The adoption fee is $150.00  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 12, 2025, 6:43 pm

Sammy Bio   Please ensure you understand and can meet the needs of this dog before applying.   • Energy level: medium • Potty training: trained • Fenced yard: no but does need frequent potty breaks • Shared walls: no  • People: no young children • Dogs: good with slow moving dogs that will respect his space • Other: Sammy does well when he wears a soft cone; it helps him to navigate his surroundings as well as gives him a barrier in his personal space.   Overview   Meet Sammy, a beautiful ~10 year old, 10 lb golden-coated dachshund who proves that love sees beyond physical limitations.   Sammy came to Little Paws as a stray found in Miami, but this sweet boy has nothing but affection to give. Despite being somewhat visually impaired due to cataracts, Sammy navigates the world with his heart wide open and is absolutely craving human connection and love.   Environment   Sammy is a gentle soul who enjoys short walks and playtime. He’s potty trained with regular potty breaks, doing best with a consistent routine. He’s great on the leash and loves his walks. Sammy is not a fan of the crate and does bark when left alone. He needs a home without shared walls. This love bug just wants to be near his people! His happy place is the sofa, left to relax without interruption.   Pets & People   Sammy is incredibly sweet with adults and older children, but he wouldn’t suit living with young children as he can be easily startled. He has shown some guarding of his space but after recent eye surgery his disposition has improved. Sammy doesn’t like to be moved when he gets comfortable and is best when left alone in "his space". He will need an adopter willing to let him be in his happy place; he will come to the human for affection on his own terms. Because he is easily startled and needs this space, he would be ok as an only dog or with another small, calm dog. His nature makes him wonderful with patient family members who understand his needs. Due to his vision, he’s very gentle around food and needs to be guided to his food and water bowls, but he manages beautifully once he knows where everything is. Sammy has come a long way since the shelter and has recently discovered his love of squeaky toys and has developed a bond with his foster sibling, Cosmo, a small easy going doxie mix.   Health   Sammy has cataracts that cause visual impairment, and he recently had eye surgery to repair a lens. He sometimes bumps into things and needs gentle guidance to his food and water bowls, but he manages well. Wearing a soft cone helps him to navigate his home. He tries to use potty pads but can not always see them. He takes a joint supplement, omega for his skin, and probiotics. He is on a low fat diet and must continue on this food. His visual challenges don’t slow down his loving spirit one bit.   Location   Sammy is available for adoption from Miami, FL. Please email siriad81@aol.com with any questions or complete an adoption application at the button above. The adoption fee for Aspen is $250.00. Please ensure you understand and can meet the needs of this dog before applying. &#226&#151&#143 Energy level: low &#226&#151&#143 Potty training: belly band/schedule &#226&#151&#143 Fenced yard: unfenced ok &#226&#151&#143 Shared walls: will bark when left alone &#226&#151&#143 People: all (untested with children) &#226&#151&#143 Dogs: some &#226&#151&#143 Other: IVDD survivor (can wobble walk), diabetic, has tried mobility wheels   Overview Meet Charlie, a resilient red dachshund who proves that heroes come in all shapes and sizes—and sometimes on wheels! Charlie is an 11-year-old, 18lb gentleman who’s shown incredible strength and spirit. When his owner had to move and couldn’t take him along, this brave boy found himself starting over. As an IVDD survivor, Charlie has overcome significant challenges and continues to live life with joy and determination.   Environment Charlie thrives with low-medium activity levels, enjoying short walks around the yard—though he can tire out, so his humans need to watch for signs he needs a break. He’s recently been introduced to mobility wheels, which have opened up new adventures for him! He prefers gated spaces over crates and doesn’t require a fenced yard, making him flexible for different living situations. Because Charlie is an IVDD survivor, he didn’t regain full bladder and bowel control. He wears belly bands and is working on getting into a good potty routine. It’s a small accommodation for such a wonderful companion, and he’s very cooperative about his care needs.   Pets & People Charlie is a lovable guy who enjoys snuggles and love with his people. He’s good with adults but hasn’t been tested with children yet. When he’s out and about, he might bark at people and dogs he encounters—just his way of saying hello from a distance! With other dogs, Charlie is quite selective. He’d do best with another calm dog who gives him space initially, or he’d be perfectly content as an only dog getting all the attention. He has lived with other dogs, and it takes time for him to warm up. He’s not looking for a playmate, just peaceful coexistence.   Health Charlie is a diabetic champion who takes his twice-daily insulin injections like an absolute pro—his foster mom says he’s amazing about his medical care! He’s on a prescription diet to keep him healthy and feeling his best. Charlie has shown that medical needs don’t define him; they’re just part of his daily routine. One of Charlie's eyes appears to be losing vision, but again, it's not stopping this lovable little guy! He still enjoys playing with tennis balls and eating cucumbers! His IVDD journey has made him stronger, not weaker, and his recent introduction to wheels has given him new mobility and confidence. Charlie is able to get around and wobbly walk without the use of wheels.   Location Charlie is available for adoption from Chatham, VA. Please email pharr33@gmail.com with any questions or complete an adoption application at the button above. The adoption fee for Charlie is $150.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 23, 2025, 8:03 am
