Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Sheldon was surrendered to Pet Rescue by Judy along with two other dachshunds, because their owners were moving and could not take the dogs.  Sheldon is a sweet boy who enjoys going out for walks. He requires a single person home with limited traffic. Someone that works from home or is home a lot is best as he does not like being left alone. He is a barker and will protest being left so no apartment living for this guy.  Prior Doxie experience is preferred. His new owner will need to have patience and be diligence about potty training as previously, he had been living on the enclosed patio and he did not really understand going into a yard to do his business.  While staying with us, he has learned a yard is for pottying:)  Sheldon does prefer the company of women over men. He loves food and is food motivated. Sheldon plays well with other small dogs outside at the rescue, but he does NOT do well living in a home with another dog and will need to be the only animal in the house. The American Kennel Club provides this information on dachshunds:They need regular exercise to stay fit and build strong muscles to support and protect their back. Two walks every day of moderate length is good. To avoid back injury, never allow your Dachshund to run up and down stairs or jump on or off furniture.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 27, 2024, 12:00 pm

Story
Apply to Adopt Me! What’s cuter than a Doxie? A Doxie mix! Say hi to Harper!  This sweet soul came from Alabama as part of a hoarding case of more than 40 dogs. She ended up in a shelter with her fur siblings - Harriet and Hansel. She loves treats and cuddling is her favorite past time. She's a great size at just 13 lbs. and a perfect age at 4 years. Sweet Harper is shy at first, and takes a bit to warm up. But she will give you a beautiful smile as she slinks her way to you for some love. Her coat is the softest ever and so are her kisses. She is good with dogs and cats, but has not been around kids while with our rescue. We imagine small kids would scare her though. Harper is working hard on learning to go outside to potty, but will use pee pads in the meantime. Walking on leash is new to her, so she will need patience and practice to feel comfortable on a leash. We do want Harriet to go to a home with another friendly dog around her size to help give her confidence. Because of this, we are requiring a fenced-in yard for her. If you have a loving, forever home for Harper, and you live in the Central Florida/Orlando area, complete an app and tell us more about you.   March 27, 2024, 11:36 am

Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Harriet is her name and kisses is her game! This sweet soul came from Alabama as part of a hoarding case of more than 40 dogs. She ended up in a shelter with her fur siblings - Hansel and Harper. Sweet Harriett has the sweetest eyes and they tell a story. This dachshund mix is a great size at 18 lbs. and a great age at 4-5 years. Although she isn’t completely housebroken, she does use pee pads and is eager to learn. She is good with dogs and cats, but has not been around kids while with our rescue. We imagine small kids would scare her though. Just as her 2 siblings that came with her, Harriet is very shy. But once she knows you're her family, she will snuggle and take all the love you can dish out. Her leash walking has improved greatly since she has been with us, and with practice and patience, she will get a lot better. We do want Harriet to go to a home with another friendly dog around her size to help give her confidence. If you have a loving, forever home for Harriet,  and you live in the Central Florida/Orlando area, complete an app and tell us more about you. March 27, 2024, 11:36 am

Apply to Adopt Me! Meet Hansel! No, not the Hansel from the classic Hansel and Gretel fame. But make no mistake, this boy is going places! He’s as sweet as pie, and will happily follow you if you drop morsels of food along the way. This sweet soul came from Alabama as part of a hoarding case of more than 40 dogs. He ended up in a shelter with his fur siblings - Harriet and Harper. Hansel a beautiful boy, albeit a tad shy. His only request is someone to snuggle with and share your food with. This dachshund mix is good with dogs and cats, but has not been around kids while with our rescue. We imagine small kids would scare him though. He’s a good size at 18 lbs. and around 4-5 years old. Hansel is working hard on learning to go outside to potty, but will use pee pads in the meantime. His leash walking has improved greatly since he has been with us, and with practice and patience, he will get a lot better.  We do want Hansel to go to a home with another friendly dog around his size to help give him confidence. Story
Meet Wagmore! This little mini 1-year-old Doxie-Chi blend weighs 10 lbs and is searching for a loving family with a playful dog.  General Behavior: Initially shy, Wagmore is coming out of his shell with his loving foster environment, revealing just how sweet a pooch he is! He is still learning the ropes of being a dog and seeks reassurance from his trusted family members. Although he doesn't initiate snuggles, he willingly participates when approached with a gentle touch. With his foster mom he's become a little velcro dog, following her everywhere as well as tagging along with his fur foster sister. He is a very sweet and mild-mannered boy. Likes & Dislikes: Wagmore enjoys spending his time running and playing outside, particularly when accompanied by other canine friends! However, he is not a fan of quick movements or loud noises and often retreats to a place of safety when frightened. Training: Wagmore has been working hard on his training skills in his foster home. He does best with his housetraining when let out frequently and on a regular schedule. He is still working on his leashwalking skills and overall feeling more comfortable when outside of his home.  Medical: Wagmore is a healthy boy and will just require his monthly heartworm and flea preventative.  Other Animals: Wagmore enjoys the company of other dogs, and requires another confident and playful dog in his forever home to show him the ropes to continue to build his confidence. He's good around cats too and is in a foster home with a friendly cat. Children: Wagmore thrives in a quiet, calm home due to his fear of loud, sudden noises and movements. Therefore, a home with children would not be a good fit, but he is comfortable with teens. Home: This sweetheart requires a laid-back and calm home, with a family who is willing to give him time to bloom. We'd prefer he is in a home with a fenced in yard where he can run until his heart is content. Grooming: As a short-haired pooch, Wagmore does not require any elaborate grooming other than his regular baths and nail trims.  Overall: Wagmore is a special boy with lots of love to give to a special family.  Do you have a calm and loving home for Wagmore? Visit our website www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org, where you will find the application to adopt. You'll be put in contact with his foster family if it's a potential match. He is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, heartworm negative, and he's neutered. His adoption donation is $400. ##1882120##

Story
Meet Sweet Pete! This 1-year-old Dachshund-Miniature Pincher blend weighs 9 lbs. Sweet Pete is a young guy with tons of puppy energy and is always on the go! General Behavior: Sweet Pete, or Petey, as his friends call him, is a friendly boy! He is quite exuberant when meeting new people and other dogs. As active as he is, when his energy runs out, Sweet Pete likes nothing more than to sleep on his person’s lap or as close to that person as possible. He’s a little lovebug and will stare at you with his dark, expressive eyes, melting your heart. Likes & Dislikes: Sweet Pete loves playing fetch, rooting through the toy box to see what catches his interest, and playing with other dogs. Training: This young guy is working hard on his training skills. He’s learning to walk on the leash but does get quite excited, causing him to bark at any dogs while on his walk. He is working on his housetraining and does well when kept on a regular schedule and let out frequently. He likes treats, which will help with training as he learns the ropes in his forever home. Medical: Petey is a healthy boy and just requires his monthly heartworm and flea preventative. Other Animals: Sweet Pete interacts well with other playful pups! He has not yet been introduced to any cats. Children: Pete would do well with kids 10+ who understand doggie boundaries. Pete likes to get his way with his canine and human family. Home: This active pooch will require a single-family home without directly connected neighbors. Whenever he hears noises outside, he runs to the window to bark, and we wouldn’t want him bothering anyone. As a young guy with lots of energy, he will require a family that can commit to providing him with daily walks and exercise, along with continuing his training. Grooming: Sweet Pete has a soft, glossy coat so won’t need grooming beyond baths. Overall: Sweet Pete is a fun guy with so much love to give to a dog-loving family! Are you the one for Sweet Pete? Visit our website www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org where you will find the application to adopt. You’ll be put in contact with his foster family if it’s a potential match. He is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and neutered. His adoption donation is $450. ##1981027##
