Story
Molly is a very loving 8 year old dachshund/chihuahua/terrier mix. She enjoys relaxing at home in the sun or going for long hikes. She is somewhat quirky and is sometimes hesitant about new people, but loves them once she gets to know them. She is very food motivated and knows a few fun tricks such as whisper, crawl, and fist bumping! Molly has a lot of energy for an older dog, but is content lounging in the sun for long periods of time or relaxing on a porch. She is a capable hiker and enjoys long walks. Molly is house trained and is left uncrated at home when alone without issue. She is a bit of an anxious dog and is prone to shaking when nervous. She does not like thunder or fireworks. She does take a daily dose of medication to help her anxiety. That medication plus training has helped her become less reactive. Besides her anxiety, she has no other health conditions. We're looking to rehome her as Molly is not a fan of our new baby and it's causing us and her too much stress.

Story
Tiny is an adorable Dachshund mix who is great with other dogs. She came from a home with lots of dogs and cats. She was taken in by a rescuer who had too many animals, which is a common situation in the south. The rescue offered to help out so she brought 5 dogs, 7 cats, and one bearded dragon to the rescue to find new homes up north. Tiny is three years old and is around 16 lbs. She's spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and will be available after May 18th. She's bunking with Joey, another Dachshund mix. Please apply at https://www.saveadog.org/applytoadopt.asp, and we will get right back to you.

Story
Meet Scarlett ❤️ Scarlett is a sweet senior girl, estimated to be around 13–14 years old, and one of our Florence 10 from a heartbreaking neglect case. Despite everything she has been through, Scarlett is full of love — and even a little puppy-like playfulness! She may be an older girl, but she still has a fun, silly side and loves to interact with her person. She is not much of a toy girl, but she loves gentle hand play and being close to the people she trusts. Scarlett is a true cuddler. She wants to be right by her foster mom’s side and loves to be touching her person when she sleeps. She wags her tail often and has the sweetest little personality. She gets along well with other dogs and cats and would do best in a home with at least one other dog. Scarlett is not aggressive and is not an instigator, but she will politely stand up for herself if another dog tries to push her around. Scarlett would do best in a home where someone is home more often than not. Older children would be fine, but we do not recommend a home with young kids. Scarlett is spayed, up to date on vaccines, on prevention, and has had her dental work done, including a fistula repair. She does still have a few teeth left, but not many. Scarlett can also be adopted with her housemate Ellie, who is also one of the Florence 10. They do fine together & fine separated (as long as they have another dog in the home) Her adoption fee is $150. If adopted with Ellie their fee is $250. Scarlett is looking for a soft place to land, a person to love, and someone who will let her stay close — because that is exactly where she wants to be. Please apply for her or both of them at coaldr.org ❤️

Story
Meet Duchess 👑 Duchess is an approximately 12-year-old senior sweetheart who was rescued as part of the “Florence 10” neglect case out of Alabama. Despite everything she has been through, Duchess remains incredibly sweet, gentle, and loving. She gets along well with other dogs and absolutely LOVES car rides. In fact, one of her favorite things is tagging along with her foster mom wherever she goes. Duchess even goes to work with her foster mom and enjoys being close to her people. Because of this, she would do best in a home where someone is home more often than not. Duchess is not a super mobile dog. She can walk around on her own, but she is not a dog that will be going on long walks or hikes. Due to years of neglect before coming into rescue, her nails had grown underneath her feet, which affected the way she walks. She gets around just fine for her needs, but she does walk a little differently because of the damage that was done. Duchess does well with pottying when kept on a consistent schedule and taken outside every couple of hours. However, if she is not kept on that schedule, she will have accidents in the house. She also wears a diaper overnight and during car rides. This sweet senior has already been through extensive veterinary care. She is spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and up to date on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. She had extensive dental work, including fistula repairs, and no longer has any teeth. Duchess does have mammary masses that veterinarians do not currently believe are cancerous. Chest and abdominal x-rays showed no signs of cancer spread, and because of her age and overall condition, it was determined that surgery would be harder on her than leaving them alone. At this time, they are not causing her discomfort, and she continues to enjoy life. Duchess is looking for a compassionate adopter who understands that senior dogs deserve love, comfort, and stability too. She may not be perfect, but she is absolutely deserving of a soft place to land for the rest of her life. ❤️ Duchess is available for adoption through Chance of a Lifetime Dachshund Rescue. Adoption fee: $150 Please fill out an application at Coaldr.org if you would like to make Duchess part of your family
