He does well with many dogs after a slow introduction, especially older and calmer ones. He loves going to his daycare. Ace loves to "talk" and will howl/bark whenever he meets a new person which is his way of saying hi. All Ace wants to do is go on nice long walks with his human, cuddle and fall asleep by their feet while playing with his chew toys.Ace is house trained and is working on crate training. He doesn't love his crate yet and is working on separation anxiety when left alone. He gets startled by sudden noises and is a bit wary of unknown dogs so can be a bit leash reactive. Ace is very food motivated so with a confident handler willing to do some training this smart pup will make great progress. Ace is a wonderful and loving dog ready to make his forever family very happy!Please Note: All dogs are posted until they are officially adopted. She loves to pretend to be fierce and bark at people. That’s the extent of it. She will be nice to anyone she's introduced to and loves all dogs as long as proper intros are done and she doesn’t feel like she’s going to get trampled. Bertie would fit into pretty much any home. She’s a puppy so needs someone that is willing to invest time into training her. She would probably be good with kids now that her puppy teeth are gone. Bertie has to be placed into the crate, but she will settle down. She is house trained but she is used to being on a consistent schedule. She loves walks and rides in the car as well as playing with toys and her doggy friends. Delilah is a very energetic player, so any play dates or siblings should be able to match her energy and play style. A fenced yard is recommended to help Delilah to expend her stores of puppy-like energy. An outgoing human who likes to walk, hike, road trip and the like would find a great partner in Delilah. If she sounds like a good fit for you and your family, send in an application to adopt Delilah! Delilah is a 5 year-old smooth coat dachshund mix. She weighs approximately 17 lb, which is a good weight for her sturdy frame. Delilah is spayed, current on vaccines, heartworm negative, house-trained, and crate-trained. She is good with other respectful dogs of all sizes. Delilah is not cat or kid tested, but older respectful children would be great for her. Having kids to play with - toss a ball or play tug of war - would make her playtime even richer. Delilah is a power chewer and will need Nylabones or similar chewing choices. No stuffed toy can survive her dedicated approach to unsqueeking them. Delilah is fostered in Smithfield VA.

Meet Joyful Johnny!  He is a wonderful little chiweenie boy who is 3 years old and about 15 lbs.  Johnny is a fun loving little guy who is good with dogs of all sizes and ages.  He also loves people and just wants to be with you.  Johnny loves to play and has a big time running and playing with his foster brothers and sisters.  They have a nice fenced in area where they can safely play.  When not playing Johnny is always up for a movie or a ballgame.  He came from a bad situation where he was not taken care of at all.  He and his sister June (a boxer) were surrendered to a rural Tennessee shelter,  Johnny showed no signs of being neglected but June was in rough shape.  She is now in a great foster home too and well on her way to recovery.  Johnny would make a great addition to an active home with another similar size and age dog to play with.  He is trained to a doggie door so might need some help with his house manners if you don't have one.  He eats in his crate and is not picky about his food.  Johnny is a happy go lucky guy who just makes you smile.  He is schedule to be neutered and microchipped on 2/13.  He is already current on all his shots.  He will then be ready to travel to his forever home.  To be considered for Johnny's forever family and to request an application please contact Vivienne at viviennejames@comcast.net.  ARRPOVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Johnny is currently in Tennessee but can be transported north upon adoption.)September 21, 2023, 1:14 pm

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Roosevelt is part of the Roo & Aggie Dynamic duo.  Although they are not bonded, we would like to adopt them out together.   Please take a look at his sister Agatha's bio for more information about that little sweetie pie. Sweet Ruzzi celebrated his 14th birthday on May 30th. Ruzzi is an affection, sweet, gentle little guy who found himself looking for a new family to spend his golden years.  He will pay you back two-fold with love and affection. Want a kiss?  Just ask.........he will oblige.   Want to cuddle?  He is your guy......he loves to cuddle in your lap and in the big bed at night. Does great with tubby time, nail cutting, ear cleaning- LOVES a warm towel right out of the dryer! HUGE appetite for little dog.   He does require a senior soft diet.  Due to years of oral hygiene neglect he had most of his teeth removed and has fistulas. LOVES:   COOKED TO SOFT: carrots, green beans, sweet peas.   Ruzzi had very little to none "outside time" in his former home.   He now enjoys being outside.  Foster mom has done an amazing job with potty training, he does excellent if kept on a schedule.  Of course, he is a doxie and not a fan of rain. Easy to train with cookie or warm veggies, smart and a real quick learner.  Routine and predictable things will win him over.
