Meet Joyful Johnny!  He is a wonderful little chiweenie boy who is 3 years old and about 15 lbs.  Johnny is a fun loving little guy who is good with dogs of all sizes and ages.  He also loves people and just wants to be with you.  Johnny loves to play and has a big time running and playing with his foster brothers and sisters.  They have a nice fenced in area where they can safely play.  When not playing Johnny is always up for a movie or a ballgame.  He came from a bad situation where he was not taken care of at all.  He and his sister June (a boxer) were surrendered to a rural Tennessee shelter,  Johnny showed no signs of being neglected but June was in rough shape.  She is now in a great foster home too and well on her way to recovery.  Johnny would make a great addition to an active home with another similar size and age dog to play with.  He is trained to a doggie door so might need some help with his house manners if you don't have one.  He eats in his crate and is not picky about his food.  Johnny is a happy go lucky guy who just makes you smile.  He is schedule to be neutered and microchipped on 2/13.  He is already current on all his shots.  He will then be ready to travel to his forever home.  To be considered for Johnny's forever family and to request an application please contact Vivienne at viviennejames@comcast.net.  ARRPOVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Johnny is currently in Tennessee but can be transported north upon adoption.)May 26, 2023, 10:57 pm

Meet Mr. Oakley!!  This sweet gentleman is 10 years old and he weighs 24 lbs.  He has begun his weight watchers program and will soon be loosing some weight.  We suspect that table food has been part of Oakley's regular diet.  Well no more!  If he could loose at least 5 lbs he would be much better off.  An overweight dachshund is prone to back issues and we definitely want to prevent that.  He needs a family that will take him for walks and continue his diet plan.  Oakley gets along well with other dogs and loves his foster brothers and sisters.  He likes to hang out with them in his foster mom's fenced in yard.  He is great with people and will go up to you immediately to be petted.  Oakley is content to lay beside you but does like to go wherever you go.  He is not needy.  Just wants to see where you are.  This super sweet boy is also good with cats!!  He would be better in a home with older children, 7-8 years old.  No toddlers.  Since we suspect people food contributed to his weight we don't want to tempt him with someone walking around with food.  Plus this older gentleman deserves a quiet home.  A experienced dachshund family would be best for this great guy.  Oakley is neutered, current on all his shots and microchipped.  To be considered for his forever family and to request an application please contact Vivienne at viviennejames@comcast,net.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Oakley is currently in Tennessee but can be transported north upon adoption.)May 26, 2023, 10:57 pm

Hello my name is Toby. I am an 11 year old male Daschund. I am microchipped. I was found running the road and almost got hit by numerous cars. My owners did not want me back. I am very sweet and timid. I do not understand play so I do get a little snippy from time to time if you were to playfully grab at me as I do not understand what this means. I do not care for walking on leashes but will occasionally. I prefer to be a lap dog. I prefer my special family so we can sit together or I in your lap and gets lots of attention all day every day. I am long haired. I am brown and white. I get scared easy. I am fully vaccinated. I am heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. I am not neutered and due to my age the vet doesn't think it's a good idea. I will need to be worked with on potty training and I can also wear a belly band that helps with not urinating in your house. I get along great with all other dogs and cats. I am laid back and the sweetest little boy in the world. I'm fine with riding in car if I'm held and not put in a pet carrier. Pet carriers terrify me.   Sometimes we never know what we will see when we start up our car and leave the safety of our homes and our beloved pets that wait for us to return.  Sometimes what we see on the road is disturbing and downright WRONG.     This pair of Chihuahuas were discovered by one of our faithful rescue fosters as she traveled a back country road that was mostly farmland and very few  houses on the road.  First she say the little white chihuahua in the road and he ran from her and wouldn’t let her catch him.  She tried for a while.  Then she went to the nearest house and talked to a man who was out in his yard about this white Chihuahua.  He told her who owned the land where the dog was seen running and so a few days later she went back determined to ride up and down the road until she could see the dog again.  Well there were TWO little chihuahuas now; white and black and tan.  She found the owners of the land and asked them about the Chis and was told they were dropped off by some unknown person and that they had been up in their barn trying to eat the cow feed. They were abandoned and soon our rescue foster trapped them and brought them home to change their life forever.  We are getting them vetted and neutered and spayed 1/26. This special girl is called Joni and she is a 2-3 year old Chihuahua girl that weighs 11 pounds and looking for a dream home.  This girl who has been a momma with babies before, was found with what we believe to be one of her puppies, a son named Chachi, who is white and a year old now.     This girl was found  abandoned in a very remote rural area that was nothing but countryside farm land.  The owners of the farm told us that they both showed up and had been there looking for food and shelter for over a week.  Our rescue foster mom couldn’t stand to see them left outside in the cold and with no place to be safely sheltered.  They would not come to her and so she humanely trapped them and took them home.  The rest will be history for both of these Chihuahuas.  Momma Joni is a sweet and confident girl who still takes her protective mothering responsibilities seriously.  She is still mothering and overseeing her son Chachi.  She is housebroken pretty well and crate trained and she does get along with the other small dogs in the foster home…and the cat too!  We have promised Momma Joni that she will never be thrown out and abandoned ever again.   She is ready for a new and loving owner to sweep her away on a little magic carpet to live happily ever after.   Is that you holding the key to her heart and forever future!?  Contact us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com if you are interested.  PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.May 26, 2023, 10:57 pm

Itsy Bitsy is one of those sweet small dogs that has lost her momma and after she passed away the remaining senior husband did not want her.  He was just never connected to her at all.  This adorable 9 pound,  12 year old black and cream colored Chihuahua with a unique stubby tail somehow came to us terrified and untrusting.  She’s had a rough time of it and requires plenty of love, patience and understanding. She’ll need some time to get over being terrified of you and a new environment when she is adopted.  When she is unsure of something she has a tendency to snap on autopilot, but it doesn’t hurt and it’s just a quick reaction. A little busybody, she will follow you around wherever you go.  If only she could talk.  Or maybe she would be dangerous if she could tell us what made her so fearful.  She is currently living with a dog and two cats and they all leave each other alone, and if could find her an only dog home she would love it.  But if not…she tolerates other animals in the home. She wants all the attention focused on her but hasn’t been getting it since being with us at Critter Cavalry Rescue. Once she trusts you, she’ll be your best friend. It will take time to get her to trust you but it will be worth it in the end.  She is housebroken, but will need pee pads for a bit getting used to a new home and routine.  Please email us if you have the heart and soul to give this girl the best last years of her life.  She has been spayed by Critter Cavalry Rescue and also received bloodwork done and a dental as well.   We have fixed up beautifully and put her on a path of good health and now the search begins to find the most unique and caring owner possible.
