This little pretty chocolate dappled girl is called Mazie and goodness what a cracker jack she is. Don’t for minute let those green eyes and chocolate marbled coat fool you to think she is gentle or easy. She is the CEO of dogs and will run the show at your house if given the chance. Mazie is 30 pounds and 9 months old. She is a breed mix of Dachshund and Basset Hound we are told. Her pics make her look big but she is a “tiny but mighty” little girl. Mazie is not a fan of any other female dogs in her life or around her. We don’t know where that came from but the dislike is there so we say…don’t ignore the warning. She is great with big male dogs, not good with other small dogs or cats, but loves people deeply and wants to be around them. She needs a fenced yard because she is a runner as most Dachshunds can be and she needs to be able to run and play and get her energy out daily. Older children would be better for her and she is crate trained, 90% housebroken and she adores going for walks; a very good girl on a leash we can say. She is beautiful but a “tad” bit complicated, which is why we have outlined the Likes and Dislikes of this girl to a TEE! The owner of Arlo, Lainey and 4 other akc registered doxies was living in a rental home with 4 children and the landlord said the dogs had to go. Her mom took them while she was supposed to find another place to live but that did not happen. Her mom had 3 dogs of her own and was overwhelmed so she asked for help. All the dogs are sweet but we took Arlo and Lainey. These two are quite bonded so we are going to try to place them together. They are both spay/neutered, UTD on vaccines and HW negative, They will also be microchipped. In their original home, they were left on a self feeder and I am afraid Arlo overindulged but Lainey was able to keep her figure. They are both so so sweet and cute! They both Love cuddles and kisses! They both seem to be reliably housetrained. Arlo is a red pie bald and Lainey is a black and tan wirehaired doxie. Lainey was born on 9/10/2021 so she is 3 years old, Arlo is 4. Hello good people of the Northeast, my name is Pepper and I am a plump 6.5-year-old Dachshund mix weighing 25 lbs, and I am currently on a diet. I have been living in Connecticut with my owner, but when she could no longer get around, I was stuck indoors with nothing to do but eat, sleep, snack, potty, repeat. It wasn't the best lifestyle for me but I was loved. Later on when she could no longer care for me a kindly neighbor brought me home to foster while helping me find a new forever home, and that is where you come in… I am ready to be adopted! I am a happy and friendly boy, with medium energy, not a couch potato any longer, good with people and other dogs, shy when meeting strangers, and not too keen on being picked up. It had been so long since I had playmates that I about go bonkers when I have doggy friends to play with and doggy toys, especially the ones with crinkle sounds. No stuffing, please. I am affectionate, kissy, snuggly, and cuddly, and if you don't mind 25 lbs on your lap, then I’m a lap dog! I am well-behaved and rarely bark, at least until it's mealtime, and then I happily dance and hop and bark for joy when I see my food bowl coming. I don't dig in the yard or eat your things, and I know how to use a potty pad while working on my housebreaking skills. I’ll go for a walk with some encouragement, and a few extra walks should help me find my youthful physique again. I’m not in love with being kept in a crate, but I will go in when asked. I’d rather be hanging out in my doggy bed or your bed if that's okay. So, what do you think? Meet Rebel, the most terrified of the group of 10 little ones we took in from a home that ended up with too many dogs due to lack of spay/neuter. So of course she’s our favorite 😍. She peed all over the aco that removed her from the home and peed and pooped all over us the day we got her. We do love a good feral project dog. You can see her progress over the past 2 weeks as you swipe through her pics, from totally shut down and feral, avoiding eye contact, trying to make herself invisible, and panicking and running from us, to actually starting to come up and greet us happily and seek out petting! She’s not even 3 years old, still a baby and her inner puppy energy comes out more and more each day. The has the perfect short long body of a standard wirehaired doxie but with an almost human-like face stuck onto her. She was a chunky 21lbs and has lost a couple already but should be more like 17 probably. She had never been to a vet or left the only home she ever knew before, and will panic and likely regress at first moving to another home but we can see what a sweet special girl she has the potential to be with the right person. She loves and takes comfort from other dogs and will need a calmer adult home, preferably just one or 2 people, and at least one other dog friend she can learn from and follow. She’s never been walked on a leash or experienced so many normal dog things, but she’s been learning to follow the other dogs out into a fenced yard to go to the bathroom and also uses wee wee pads. She has a shorter wiry coat than most of the others from her group and is not a non-shedding breed that requires grooming more than a good brushing every now and then- gotta love that scruffy wash and wear coat! She’s been spayed, updated on shots, and is fostered in Northern NJ Since COVID-19, we are no longer holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we are scheduling meet and greet appointments with a specific dog or dogs at our meeting spots in Northern NJ.
