Story
My name is Hayden!!! I'm a 8 week old, Dachshund mix baby boy. My mom was found tied up at a park in Texas with me and my brother staying close to her for safety. I am a tiny little boy with a huge personality. Pics of my mom in comments below. I love to play with my brother, toys, chase balls, chew on bones and get lovin' from my foster mom. I'm great with dogs of all sizes, please remember that I'm still a puppy and will want to play, but I am very small so need to be careful with me Running around the backyard is my favorite hobby, but belly rubs are a close second! I'm still working on my potty training but have been doing wonderful with potty pads. My foster mom calls me and my brother toe biters, and teeth’n heathen, remember I have sharp little puppy teeth and my family will need to understand, I will need patience and guidance to help me become the best boy ever! Currently near Houston, Texas- but, I can travel to my new family Note: The above bio on the dog reflects the behavior we have observed in the dog's foster home. We provide adopters current information on our dogs; we cannot guarantee they will behave in the same manner in a different environment with new owners. Since they are rescue dogs we guess breed of looks. Our adoption fees vary, according to species, size, age and other issues. Discounts apply in some cases. Our adoption fee covers dewormed, heartworm tested (if over 6 months), started on heartworm preventative, flea/tick preventative, vaccinated for bordetella, dhppv, rabies (if age appropriate) and microchipped as well as spay/neuter at our preapproved vets. All puppies not altered due to age will under a foster to adopt contract until completed and an additional deposit of $100 will be required- deposit will be refunded upon completion of surgery. We expect our dogs to be adopted by families who understand- these are rescue dogs, they will need time to decompress, routine and stability. We put our lives into saving these dogs- we expect their new families to be prepared for a lifetime commitment before applying- dogs are not recyclable. Please do not send an email inquiring about a dog. Please fill out the adoption application found at https://www.rangersreach.org/ We are 100% volunteer ran we try as hard as we can to get through applications as fast as possible. If we spend all our time answering inquires and emails, we have no time to look over applications. Please do not apply until you are ready to bring a new furry family member home. We do not hold dogs for any reason. We do try to be fair and go in the order applications are received. If no response, decision or adoption is made we must move on to the next application. Applying for a dog does not guarantee that you will receive that dog. WE ARE NOT A SHELTER, WE HAVE NO BRICK AND MORTAR LOCATION-- WE ARE AN ALL-VOLUNTEER RESCUE, ALL DOGS ARE IN PRIVATE FOSTER HOMES. If we if we think your home might be a good fit, we will contact you once we have reviewed your completed application. We do check references, use social media, been verified, do phone interview/emails, and home check will be completed before meeting an adoptable dog.

Story
Hey! Iggy Pup here. I have a "Lust for Life" and would love to share my story with you.....My owner went to the county shelter and tried to surrender me and my five buddies. They turned her away but provided rehoming resources. Well, she was not interested in that so she took off and left us abandoned in her apartment. Animal Control was called out and we were impounded. SCARY! The shelter sent out a plea for help and we were all thankfully rescued. My buddy Eggbert and I were taken into SCP. I am about 8-10 years old and I have slight cataracts and arthritis. Don't worry, this doesn't keep me down! I love going for short walks and sitting with my humans on a recliner:) I am great with other dogs and even cats! I am a couch potato at heart with bouts of energy. Hopefully I have many, many more years in me- my bloodwork was great and I will be getting a dental very soon! I have medium length fur that needs a good brushing every now and again but doesn't have to be professionally trimmed. I am looking for my forever home and hoping to find this through SCP. I will sleep with you and I am potty trained - I can even be crated- I am very quiet! I am a friendly guy and love all of my peeps..... especially anyone is has food, I'm a total piggy!. If you are interested in me, please send an email to us! Applications can be found on our website at secondchancepets.org under the "Forms" tab. Please complete and return to us for review! All dogs typically show on Saturdays at the Petco in Clear Lake as well. 2410 Bay Area Blvd near Space Center. Adopter for this dog must reside in the immediate Houston/Galveston area and be at least 25 years old. A home visit may be required prior to this dog going to any home. The adoption fee for a dog is $190 (or $245 for puppies). All dogs are microchipped, on heartworm protection, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed and treated for fleas.March 2, 2024, 9:18 pm

Story
Meet Frankie! Frankie is a 14-year-old black and tan male dachshund. Don't let his age fool you. He is a healthy boy and has a lot of love left to give. Sadly, Frankie's owner passed away and he was gloomy for quite a while. He initially refused to walk on a leash or acknowledge a toy. Today, he loves his morning and evening walks with our two dogs and has such a youthful, bouncy gait--nothing cuter! He excitedly alerts on squirrels, but realizes that his squirrel-chasing days are probably over and settles quickly back into the rhythm of the walk. There's something so precious about seeing him pick up a toy and carry it around with him now. He also has come to adore cuddling on the couch or in bed. He gets a little jealous when our dogs get attention, but is becoming more secure with time. Frankie still doesn't like being alone and will follow his fosters around to be in the same room. They suspect that's because of the sudden loss of his owner and believe it may take time for him to feel independent. Frankie is good with dogs and the children he meet on his walks. Please consider adopting sweet senior dog, Frankie as he needs a loving home to spend his final years. Frankie is a 14 year old male dauschund. He weighs 13lbs.

If you would like more information about Girly or are interested in adopting her, please contact this number, 206-396-9809, or send an email to amiracjessie@gmail.com Girly is a dachshund mix who was recently dumped in my neighborhood. No chip, no collar, and no telling where she came from. She gets along well with other dogs, is only a year old so still in puppy phase somewhat and is super friendly. She seems to enjoy company and being around other pets. I am looking for a permanent loving home for Girly as I already have pets myself and am unable to care for her. Story
Hi, my name is Mr Peabody.  I was rescued from a high-volume shelter. I'm still young, estimated DOB 11/27/2023 and have some basset and terrier in my ancestry. I'm learning so much now that I'm in a home with other dogs and kids, and I love everyone. No cats at my foster home but I'd probably do OK with a kitty if they can put up with my puppy antics. I'm an active puppy, playful and a great eater! I'm just a puppy and can get into a lot of trouble so you'll need to be willing to give me lots of gentle guidance, so I can learn all those big dog things, like how to behave in a house, what a crate is for, how to walk on a leash without pulling, and all those verbal commands every dog should know. I may even treat people like I treat my foster siblings with rough play or decide that a new pair of shoes or a table leg would make a great chew toy, so a lot of appropriate toys should be in my future. The good news is that with the right training and LOTS of love, I'll be the best addition to your family ever and your best bud.  If you are interested in me, please send an email to SCP! Applications can be found on our website at secondchancepets.org under the "Forms" tab. Please complete and return to us for review!
