Story
Luna is a 5 year old Dalmatian/Lab mix She weighs about 50 pounds and is house-trained, crate-trained, and walks well on leash. She has grown up with kids and is gentle with all ages and loves to give kisses. She loves squeaky toys and snuggles and playing in the backyard to keep an eye on the squirrels! She is highly trainable and super eager to please. Luna was born deaf but was taught hand commands from age 5 months. She responds well to visual cues and is eager to learn more. Deaf dogs are just like regular dogs, you simply communicate with them a little differently! If Luna sounds like the perfect addition to your family but you are worried about her being deaf don't be! We will include sessions with our trainer for any interested family to help make the transition super easy! Luna either needs to be an only dog (as being deaf other dogs can startle her) or potentially with a calm male dog. We are a RESCUE GROUP, not a shelter, and all of our animals are in foster homes. To start the adoption process, email us at adoptions@earstexas.org requesting an application. Submitting an application does not commit you in any way, but helps us make the best match between people and our available dogs. Your current or past dogs must be inside dogs who have been spayed/neutered and are on heartworm prevention. All of the dogs in our program are inside dogs and are completely vetted including all vaccinations, spayed/neutered, free of internal parasites, microchipped, heartworm negative and on prevention before adoption. Our adoption process includes an application, check of vet records or personal references, interview, neutral site meet & greet with the dog and your family, and a home visit.

Story
Gidget not only has spots she also has freckles! Mix that in with beautiful coloring and alluring chocolate colored eyes and you have one beautiful girl! Besides that she’s got an easy-going, laid-back, winsome personality. Gidget is an 11 month old 40lb Catahoula Leopard dog that arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 6/13 as a stray. When I first took her to the yard she explored and did her business. She’s so smart that she immediately found a soft bed and sat herself down on it. But after a few minutes, she got curious and wanted to explore. She stayed close and kept looking up at me with her captivating eyes. She backed up when I asked her to sit trying to please. She took the treat I offered gently. She’s calm, gentle, sweet, affectionate, attentive, and well mannered. She did have a strong pull on the leash. She should do well with children because she’s so well behaved and loving. If she could have one wish granted it would be that her new family would include her in family outings and let her hang out with them in the house.

Story
Meet Knox, a stunning 3-year-old Catahoula/Pit mix with soulful blue eyes and a literal heart on his sleeve (well, his back!).Knox was recently returned to our rescue through no fault of his own, and we are urgently looking for a new forever home or a temporary foster family to take him in. This boy is the definition of a "good dog" and just needs one specific thing: a cat-free environment.  * Family Favorite: He has lived with young children and is incredibly gentle, patient, and sweet with them. * Social Butterfly: He loves meeting new people and is very dog-friendly! He’d love a dog sibling to play with. * The Best Roommate: Knox is both crate trained and house trained. * Playful & Affectionate: He is a big fan of toys and will never turn down a good snuggle session. * Unique Beauty: Between his striking blue eyes and the perfect brown heart-shaped spot on his back, he is truly one of a kind. * No Cats: Knox has a high prey drive regarding felines, so he must go to a home only with other dogs. * Location: Currently in Dallas, TX, but out-of-state transport is available for the perfect match! Hannah’s Southern Paws Rescue is a 501c3 non-profit. Please share this post to help Knox find the heart-shaped home he deserves!  ##1677591##

Story
Murphy has such a unique appearance! With one blue/one brown eye, a shiny black coat with speckled chest and feet, and fold-over ears, he is stunningly attractive! Murphy was surrendered 1/6/26 as they could no longer care for him. Murphy weighs 58 pounds, neutered and is about 3 years old. He is listed as a Lab/Retriever but my Dog Scanner suggests German Short-haired Pointer/English Pointer in the breed mix. Owner reported that he is house trained, was an indoor dog, and lived with and was OK with other dogs. I found him to be a delightful and charming boy who deserves another chance at a forever home with someone who will stay committed to him. He walks nicely on a leash and enjoys going for walks. He knows the sit and paw commands. He will sit for treats and takes them politely. He is well mannered and gentle. He is an inquisitive fellow, checking out his surroundings with such intense interest. He is friendly and affectionate. We met a lady in the parking lot who got down on his level to pet him and he promptly gave her kisses. Can you please assist Murphy in having a very short and brief time at the shelter?
