Story
Luna is a 5 year old Dalmatian/Lab mix She weighs about 50 pounds and is house-trained, crate-trained, and walks well on leash. She has grown up with kids and is gentle with all ages and loves to give kisses. She loves squeaky toys and snuggles and playing in the backyard to keep an eye on the squirrels! She is highly trainable and super eager to please. Luna was born deaf but was taught hand commands from age 5 months. She responds well to visual cues and is eager to learn more. Deaf dogs are just like regular dogs, you simply communicate with them a little differently! If Luna sounds like the perfect addition to your family but you are worried about her being deaf don't be! We will include sessions with our trainer for any interested family to help make the transition super easy! Luna either needs to be an only dog (as being deaf other dogs can startle her) or potentially with a calm male dog. We are a RESCUE GROUP, not a shelter, and all of our animals are in foster homes. To start the adoption process, email us at adoptions@earstexas.org requesting an application. Submitting an application does not commit you in any way, but helps us make the best match between people and our available dogs. Your current or past dogs must be inside dogs who have been spayed/neutered and are on heartworm prevention. All of the dogs in our program are inside dogs and are completely vetted including all vaccinations, spayed/neutered, free of internal parasites, microchipped, heartworm negative and on prevention before adoption. Our adoption process includes an application, check of vet records or personal references, interview, neutral site meet & greet with the dog and your family, and a home visit.

Meet Skyler! This beautiful 3-year-old, 55 lb dog is looking for a new home where she can be the star. Skyler’s owners are rehoming her as she's recently started playing a little too rough with the cat and smaller dogs. She would do best as the only pet or with a dog her size or larger. Skyler is playful, sweet, and would make a wonderful companion for someone ready for her energetic and loving personality. She’s up to date on shots, spayed, and housetrained. If you’re interested in giving Skyler a forever home, please fill out an application. codysfriendsrescue.org  Foster or adopt. I spent my days helping others, from rescuing cats stuck in trees to guiding lost puppies home. But, even superheroes need a break. So, I ended up here, at this shelter. I'm still Super Chevy, though. I've got the heart of a hero, full of love and kindness. I'm playful and sweet, always ready for a game of fetch or a cuddle session. Now, I'm looking for a sidekick. Story
Gidget not only has spots she also has freckles! Mix that in with beautiful coloring and alluring chocolate colored eyes and you have one beautiful girl! Besides that she’s got an easy-going, laid-back, winsome personality. Gidget is an 11 month old 40lb Catahoula Leopard dog that arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 6/13 as a stray. When I first took her to the yard she explored and did her business. She’s so smart that she immediately found a soft bed and sat herself down on it. But after a few minutes, she got curious and wanted to explore. She stayed close and kept looking up at me with her captivating eyes. She backed up when I asked her to sit trying to please. She took the treat I offered gently. She’s calm, gentle, sweet, affectionate, attentive, and well mannered. She did have a strong pull on the leash. She should do well with children because she’s so well behaved and loving. If she could have one wish granted it would be that her new family would include her in family outings and let her hang out with them in the house.

Story
Leo is considered a senior at eight years old. Even though he’s on the shy side some of the pictures show that he’s a SILLY SENIOR! Doesn’t it look like he’s laughing? Leo is an mix breed that weighs 44 pounds and arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 5/16 as a stray. My dog scanner said that he’s probably a part shepherd. Whatever he is, he is a real sweetheart! He will need a slow introduction as he’s cautiously friendly. He would come up to me and when I reached for him he would flinch. Then he’d come up to me again and let me pet him . Then he come again and backed away. Then he came to me and gave me kisses. He he followed me around as we walked through the shelter yard. He did sit one time for treats. I know he knows the sit command. He wants to spend time with his new family inside cuddling on the couch. He’s gentle and would most likely do well with a family with well behaved children. He appears to be housebroken. He walks fairly well on a leash. He didn’t have a problem meeting other dogs. Leo is waiting for you.

Story
Hershiee is still a baby. Hershiee is very playful, I believe she needs room to run and have space. Hershiee is potty trained but still struggles to hold her pee and poop at times. Hershiee loves dog food, fruit and water. Hershiee is very talkative and communicates with her various of noises. I believe she needs a home with a backyard to be able to run around and burn energy.
