Canelo is 7 months , he’s an amazing dog but I cannot keep him due to land lord. He plays well with kids he’s potty trained and loves to be outside. He is up to date on shots and I have paperwork to give. I am not asking for any adoption fee I just need him to go to a wonderful nice home.

Lando was recently returned to the rescue. It was a very difficult decision, but he is a little too careless to be around small children. All Lando wants in life is to play and to cuddle. He is very affectionate and very high energy. At mealtime, he will sit and wait for his food. Lando loves to play with balls and frisbees--he fetches and tugs. He is a little reactive with other dogs but with careful introductions he does better. Lando doesn't do well with lots of activity so he'll do better in a quiet neighborhood and a large yard or someone with lots of land. He has been working with a trainer and is becoming much better mannered. He just wants to please!

Carla was adopted in October 2020 but due to Covid, the owner could no longer afford to keep her. She is very active and loves chasing balls. Carla can be protective in the house. Her ideal companion will be a submissive young male. Carla likes to be the boss. She is not crate trained and does not do well in a crate or if left alone too long. She guards her home and needs someone who understands this breed as a working and protective dog. When first meeting new people she should be approached with caution - do not crowd her. The adopter needs to let Carla approach for affection until you have gained her trust. When a dog has been moved out of a home they become wary and it takes time for them to understand the new adopter is the forever home. She will need time to adjust and trust you and she will be a lifelong best friend to you. She may not do well with younger children as they have a tendency to want to get too close to befriend a dog. Since Carla is not housed at DRNT let us know if you want to meet her so we can get her to Grand Prairie.

Stanley (Hercules) was recently returned to us because his owner is now traveling over-the-road four days a week. Stanley has a pretty blue coat and is well trained. He knows all basic commands, walks nicely on leash and plays fetch. Stanley likes other dogs, large and small, and has been around a lot of kids of all ages. Stanley is housebroken, and crate trained. He is friendly and outgoing with everyone he meets--a perfect gentleman.

Skittles might be the perfect family dog. Although we haven't had her around kids, she is sweet, young and calm. She does fine with all the other large dogs and is not food aggressive. The previous owner who had her almost three years said she did not get along with their small female dog. Please bring any pets with you to meet her. She takes treats gently and will sit when asked. Skittles walked easily on leash and is outgoing and affectionate. She didn't jump up on people and loves attention. This little gal appears to be perfect for anyone who will love her, but a family with children might consider her for her gentle demeanor. !!Since Skittles is not housed at DRNT, let us know if you want to meet her so we can get her to Grand Prairie.

California aka Cali was adopted in March of 2021 and came back to us in 2022 because her owner just didn't have enough time for her. For the last 18 months, she has been living with a number of other dogs but should be in a home either by herself or with a dominant male. She has also been called Princess and as such she is too bossy with female dogs of any size. Her previous adopter said that Cali is affectionate and likes toys. She is gentle indoors and will lay at your feet while you work. Cali is a little timid at first meeting but loves attention and can't resist a good neck scratch. She comes when called but will need leash and basic manners training.

Please read the bio & email the address listed in the bio.   Additionally for CATS you  may email  JShelton@eulesstx.gov and for DOGS, email trinitygapclub@gmail.com       Meet our newest Luke.  This Rhodesian Ridgeback/Blackmouth Cur mix is a big boy who found himself at the shelter when his owner passed away.   There was no family to step up for Luke, so he is stuck at the pound.  This is so sad and unfair for a dog who does not understand why he is now homeless or where his beloved owner has gone. Luke loves people and always has a big smile on his face.   He has shown no aggression to other dogs and appears to be very genial to others. Luke walks well on a leash and we think he is potty trained. Luke is a good looking dog, but at 95 pounds, could use to lose about 10 pounds.   He would be a great dog for someone wants a dog who is already trained to be a great companion.   He is neutered and up to date on shots.
