Story
My sweet 3-year-old Husky is looking for a loving and active home. He is a beautiful red and white boy with a fluffy tail and a very gentle, affectionate personality. About him: Neutered- Microchipped- Up to date on vaccines- Healthy- House-trained- Very friendly and loving- Great with other dogs-loves playing and being around them- Loves walks, hikes, running, and being outdoors- Smart, playful, and very loyal I love him very much, but I no longer have enough time to give him the daily exercise, attention, and activity he needs. Huskies are energetic dogs and deserve a home where they can stay active and engaged. This is a difficult decision, and I want to make sure he goes to a safe, caring, and committed home.

Story
Meet Nash! He was abandoned at the local dog park, along with his brothers, Stills (adopted) and Crosby (available for adoption). Nash is the shy one, but does love to snuggle once he's comfortable with you. He's a mixed breed, weighing 53 lbs. Nash came in as a scaredy-cat and has made huge progress in realizing that the world & people are not scary. He enjoys couch time and demands snuggles and pets. Nash has been dog friendly and is already out in the play yard with another dog. He has traveled up to WA with the transport team and did great! During his crate testing we found that if the crate door is not totally secured, he will pull a Houdini and be waiting at the door for you after he’s eaten a bag of snacks! He would thrive with a loving family who can bring out some self-confidence. We think he could coexist with a cat, with proper supervision and slow introductions. Nash enjoyed his time walking and hanging out with kids (see video on our Dogs of Del Norte County FB page). Sound like the new fur addition to your family? Story
Meet Zander! Zander is a hunk of burning love! This big boy is all about the next adventure and hanging out. He's about 2 years old, weighs 86 lbs., and possibly a Mastiff mix (without the slobber). We squeezed this big guy into a crate and he just chilled. Zander passed his kid test but was pretty interested when meeting the cat so we will test him again to see if it was for play or ? Zander has so much to offer. He is currently looking for an adventure buddy or a family to call his own. He's a strong boy but is learning leash manners. He's not food/treat motivated but will do anything for some petting! Zander had a spa day with Madison, at Salty Dog Grooming, and got to go to a Meet & Greet event! He rode (slept) in his crate for the long drive to the event. Zander had a good time at the event, walking around and meeting people and other dogs. He was a good boy and loaded himself back in the crate when it was time to leave. He's a big, goofy guy and we hope he gets a home of his own soon! Come check out Zander and our other dogs available for adoption at 2650 Washington Blvd, Crescent City, CA 95531. Kennels are open Mon-Fri, 9AM-4PM, or by appointment. Story
Meet Igor (AKA Iggy)! Iggy came to us as a 10 to 12-week-old puppy back in March. At that time, we weren’t sure if he would make it or if he might lose one of his back legs. He had numerous bite wounds in various stages of infection and healing. (There’s a graphic picture on our Dogs of Del Norte County FB page after his first major surgery.) But Iggy is a true example of resilience. After multiple surgeries, daily debridements requiring sedation, bandages sutured to his skin, and wearing a cone for six months, he battled infections and allergies. He endured daily medications and several weekly medicated baths. Through it all, Iggy never lost his spirit. Iggy is now almost a year old, and weighs 59 lbs. He is dog & kid friendly and loves all the toys. Iggy thrives as the center of attention when he attends adoption events and has amazing radar ears! A fundraiser was started when he arrived, and thanks to donations from our followers and the Humane Society of Del Norte covering the remaining balance of his vet bill, this young pup and his leg were saved! Iggy is now ready for adoption. Iggy is allergic to flea bites/saliva, so he’ll need to stay on long-acting oral flea medication. He’s currently on Credelio, which costs $125 for six months. He’ll also need a couple of baths a month with Viomiox, available on Amazon for about $40 for a 6-8 month supply. There are videos and additional photos of Iggy on our Dogs of Del Norte County FB page. Come check out our adoptable dogs at 2650 Washington Blvd, Crescent City, CA 95531. Story
Meet Queso! His littermates have all been adopted and now it is his turn. Queso came to us completely under socialized with people and the outside world. He needs a quiet home with a dog buddy to be his emotional support and to show him how to be a dog. He passed his cat testing and possibly just had his first bath ever. He has been slowly opening up and making friends with the staff & volunteers. He is learning what a lap and love is all about. He is slow to trust and is overwhelmed with the chaotic Shelter environment. Queso has learned that the leash can be a good thing, but is still trying to master the art of walking (he likes sniffy walks, but is easily started with sudden noises and movements). We think he's about 11 mos. old, weighs 44 lbs., and rode great up and back with the Transport Team to WA. Queso is a "project" dog who needs a patient and loving home where he can blossom into the wonderful dog he is meant to be! Queso got to spend some time in a real home with a great foster in the Vancouver, WA, area, learning the ins and outs of life in a home, with a dog sibling to show him how it's done. He still needs some work with his fear of new people, but has really improved on his leash skills! Queso really came out of his shell in a home environment! He’s still shy, but on day 1 in his temporary foster home he is posing for pictures, snuggling, and doing great! Queso keeps getting overlooked, but he’d love to find a forever home. He’s even available to foster to adopt! He has come so far. He was so shut down at first, but he’s really learned so much from his amazing foster family, who had this to say, "This awesome boy is potty trained & sleeps in his crate. He especially loves any kind of toy with a squeaker in it! Queso loves to play & then enjoys a good nap near his people. Once he’s warmed up he’s even been known to put his head in your lap!" Queso is now 44 lbs and estimated to be 11 months old. He’s taken several road trips & has done great. Our best guess is he is some sort of cattle dog/terrier/husky mix! Queso would really love a family. He needs a quiet home and would prefer a dog buddy to be his friend. He is extremely fearful of children so while he is definitely working on that he would need a no kid home. Queso had a foster sibling & they were great together! He passed his cat testing too! Queso does need a home of his own, please consider providing a forever home for this deserving guy! Queso's time with his temporary foster family has ended but he was able to get into a new foster home. Please contact us if you are interested in meeting Queso!
