Story
Gibson is part of a bonded pair. He is 3 years old and was rescued from a neglectful owner with an abusive neighbor. He appears to be in excellent health. He is crate trained and loves to play. He is very active and responds to a few commands. He has been somewhat dog and cat reactive in my home while being fostered but we have managed with baby gates.

Story
We rescued Lilly from a bad situation. A neighbor was abusing her and attempted to poison her and her son, Gibson. Former owner was neglectful so she has no records to speak of. She has had a hard road so far but she is very sweet and gentle. She lives for snacks and naps. She and her son are best friends and hang out all the time.

Adoption Event Schedule Events run from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM every month at these locations: 2nd Saturday, Sacramento - Pet Food Express 3rd Saturday, Modesto - Strand Hardware Store 4th Saturday, Roseville - Pet Food Express Please visit the GCGSR Rescue Page for specific address information. All of our dogs are in foster homes and not in one single kennel location.  Adoption events is the best way to meet several of our dogs at once. Harley is a 5 yo Black and Tan male German Shepherd weighing approximately 70 pounds.   Although he is new to our organization, he recently completed several months in foster care where he received much needed attention to overcome a tough period in his life. During this time, he proved himself to be an exceptional family member and is now ready to join his forever home.     This boy displays all that is ideal in a canine: beauty, stamina, cheerful enthusiasm, and cordial grace with his people and fellow pack mates.   From day one, he initiated play with his foster mate (see Cadence), navigating himself with respect. Initially, she came on a bit strong, but he hung in there and quickly adjusted play styles that accommodates each other well. He finds it natural to share his space, beds, and chew toys taking care not to overstep his boundaries.     In the home setting, Harley has respectful house manners as if he read a book on Home Etiquette. He is occasionally busy, searching and anticipating action like a social butterfly but will eventually settle on his dog bed, chew on a Nyla bone, or lay close to his person.   In the morning, Harley eagerly awaits his walks where he has learned to ignore common triggers along the way.   Any invitation to jump in the car is welcomed without hesitation where he will lie down quietly.   Despite his love for all activities, he does well when left alone with his foster mate while his human is away.   In his previous foster setting, he thrived in the company of children, squeaky toys, and discovered a new passion for playing ball.   It was noted that Harley previously suffered from allergies; however, this appears well managed at this time with common limited ingredient kibble diet.     Harley is housebroken and accustomed to using a dog door.   He readily enters his crate at night where he snoozes quietly. Few dogs come so well-natured with a strong desire to please. He will drop everything in a snap if you ask for his attention as if to remind you that you are his priority in his world. This guy is yearning and ready to fulfill your expectations with his warm endearing soul.       Cats unknown     Level 2 Understanding Dog Levels Please be sure you understand what a dog of this Level requires. Go to our home page for an explanation of the Dog Rating Levels. Additional Adoption Information For more information and to see when this dog will be attending an Adoption Day, please see our Dogs page on our main website. (Adoption Process) We operate within a reasonable driving distance from the Greater Sacramento area, the Central Valley down to Merced, and Lake Tahoe. All of our dogs are in foster homes and not in one single kennel location.  Adoption events is the best way to meet several of our dogs at once. Danny is a senior boy estimated to be 12 years old, mostly black without a tail.  He came from a local shelter with no history of his past.  He must have led a hard life, as he was missing much of his fur from an apparent flea allergy, had an eye infection and bad ear infections.  He’s received several baths and the vet packed his ears (while he was sedated) and sent medicine for his eyes and he’s already showing improvement.  Because his ears are packed, he doesn’t hear well and may have some age related hearing loss too. Danny is sharing the foster home with a senior alumni girl (Grandma Belle) and does great with her.  He doesn’t do well alone, so having another dog in the home with him is key. He was brought to an event with several other dogs (mostly German Shepherds) of all ages and he ignored them all. Danny walks well on leash, but doesn’t require a lot of exercise.  He’s a little unsteady of his feet. When he was new to us, he didn’t want to get into the car.  After several trips with nothing horrible happening, he now gets in the car willingly.  Housebreaking is a work in progress.  He’s doing well living in a home with a cat. Danny is an easy dog to have around and would like to have a new forever home for the holidays. Small critters unknown. Story
This sweet little girl is about 2 years old and just 10 pounds of pure potential. She may be shy at first, but with a little patience and a calm, loving home, she blossoms beautifully. Give her a few days to feel safe and you’ll watch her transform into a playful, joyful, and devoted little companion.   She would love another small, friendly dog to help build her confidence and will thrive in a quiet home that understands shy pups.   If you believe in the power of patience and watching a gentle soul bloom, she is waiting for you   For more information, please visit fochp.org     For a complete list of our pets and photos please visit our website fochp.org  February 22, 2026, 8:45 am
