Story
**English bulldogs are highly prone to major medical issues such as joint issues and heat stroke, and require extra precautions to ensure their safety and well-being. We are specifically looking for a bulldog-savvy home for Nutmeg .** Meet the absolute sweetest girl around - Nutmeg! Nutmeg is estimated to be 5 years old, and she is the epitome of a social butterfly. Strangers are a foreign concept to her as she immediately loves everyone she meets - especially if they give her attention and/or yummy treats! She brings happiness wherever she goes and is such a joy to be around. Nutmeg weighs about 42lbs. Nutmeg came to us after she was found as a stray and brought to a local shelter. No family came forward for her. It appears she has had at least one litter of puppies, so it's possible she was used for breeding and dumped. Whatever happened in her past, Nutmeg has forgotten, and she can't wait to have her fresh start with her fur-ever family! Nutmeg is the perfect mix of affectionate and independent. Her happy place is on the couch snuggled with her foster parents, but she also can keep herself amused napping on her bed or playing with her toys - squeaky toys are her favorite! She is an easygoing girl who makes a great work-from-home buddy, but is also happy to chill at home while you're gone at work. She likes her leisurely strolls around the neighborhood and would be a great walking buddy for someone who doesn't want a super active dog. Nutmeg has some of her basic manners down, but is a bulldog, so only listens when she wants (aka when food is involved). Nutmeg has done well living with other dogs. She is the only animal in her foster home, but she spent some time in a short-term foster home with other dogs and mingled well with the group. Nutmeg spent some time in a foster home with kitties, too. She was a little excited to chase them at first, but after a slow introduction and proper supervision, she was able to settle around them. Nutmeg has loved all the kids she has met, but can be jumpy when excited, so would do best with kids 7 years and older who couldn't get knocked over by her. Nutmeg is housetrained and crate-trained. She is happy to sleep in her crate at night and hang out in there for short periods during the day. Nutmeg could do well living in an apartment. Nutmeg is such an amazing girl, and she is going to make someone very lucky! If you think that might be you, submit an application today! Nutmeg's adoption fee is $500. Apply to adopt here! https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/ Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org) It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org. For more general questions, please see our website at www.yolospca.org. February 6, 2026, 10:25 pm
