MUST HAVE PREVIOUS BULLDOG OWNERSHIP EXPERIENCE.  HOW IS HE STILL AVAILABLE?!?He's PERFECT IS IT BECAUSE HES BIG? IS IT BECAUSE HE'S NOT A PUP?  Cletus Located in the Sidney NE area Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog fusion 5-7 Years old Dog Friendly  Cat friendliness unknown, he's lunged at one but then also didn't care about others ‍ Does fine with kids BUT he's a bull in a china shop and will knock small kids over so children 10 and over WITH DOG MANNERS only House trained Rings bells on the door to go out Knows commands however if he will do them without being bribed by food is questionable Will crate however he isn't the biggest fan, if you plan to crate him there better be a bed in there that feels like a freaking cloudand a giant hug combined Will mosey to visit other humans if given the chance so a secure fence is a must Can NOT handle EXTREME TEMPS Must be allowed on the couch and in your bed or have a bed as inviting as yours  Loves to sunbathe but doesn't realize when it's too hot, so a dog door won't work and you will need to call him back in.   CANNOT use any training methods besides positive reinforcement, this isn't up for debate, he is way too passive a dog for us to allow him to be trained with ANY adverse methods. If you plan to put a "shock collar/Ecollar/Training collar on this dog move along  Needs high quality food and multiple supplements to maintain his heath and thrive in life needs his wrinkles cleaned daily  The happiest of goobers Not an outdoor activity dog  Fully vetted 90+lbs  Did you watch Tommy Boy and laugh hysterically? Do you think that “Saturday Night Live” in the early to mid 90’s was the best? Do you need someone to make you laugh and smile all day? Would you love a companion who’s world revolves around you? How about a gentleman that is so in tune with your emotions he knows exactly when you need it, a laugh or a giant hug? If you answered “yes” to the questions above, then guess what WE HAVE THE DOG FOR YOU!! He is an Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog named Cletus.    For whatever reason we cannot figure out we have had Cletus for 4 over years, no idea how or why because he is the best dog ever. Cletus also would love more attention and lap/couch cuddles than he gets in his foster with all their dogs. Cletus is literally Chris Farley in a dog. He is the happiest and sweetest soul, just a true goober to the core. Cletus’s foster is home a majority of the day BUT HE doesn’t suffer separation anxiety or hasn’t in the 4+ years he’s been with his foster. Cletus will crate but doesn’t like it, he’s not destructive so a crate really isn’t necessary, if he has to go in one is must be very large with a bed like a snuggly cupcake. He would prefer a home with other dogs who like other dogs on the rare occasion he wants to play. He is a GIANT dog, about 120lbs. We believe he is an Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog mix.  He is house trained and rings the bell on the door to go out, if you don’t listen, he will come over, a maximum of 6” away from you and stare at you until you move and let him out. He is an incredibly passive dog, he will correct another dog gently or low growl in certain particular situations, Cletus is a dog who “uses his words.” In fact in 4+ years and meeting over 75+ dogs, the only dog he has only had one angsty interaction and that was the fault of the other dog.     Cletus makes no apologies for who he is, he is an all or nothing dog. “All” for Cletus includes  sleeping in your bed, taking up residence on the couch or lounge chair, and every now and then sitting in your lap or close to it. Cletus loves to cuddle with other dogs but doesn’t like other dogs to cuddle him without his permission, it annoys him, I know it sounds weird, but it’s literally his only hang up. He will just low growl and if the unwelcome, space invading, cuddle monster doesn’t heed his warning, he will just get up, in a loud dramatic huff, move to another spot and glare at you because obviously this is your fault.    Cletus loves dogs, all shapes and sizes, I have photos of him snuggling with a chihuahua (4lbs), a few 75lbs bully mixes to a  (125lbs) Saint Bernard. When he moves homes, (which will only be happening 1 time), he may be a touch overwhelmed. We suggest that while he gets to know and trust you/his new owners and his new environment, that you go slow with dog introductions to avoid overwhelming him more. He has been with his foster for years so he is going to take some patience.    Please remember that  he is a giant BRACHYCEPHALIC dog, he CANNOT do extreme temperatures hot or cold however he doesn't know that. He does like to sunbathe for short periods of time outside when it’s warm but it’s your job to make sure he comes in and that he doesn’t get sunburned. He will also tolerate going outside to potty in the winter, (however the cold isn't his favorite). This is not a great dog for camping unless it’s closer to “glamping.” Cletus is not a dog meant for hikes or even for an active home, he couldn’t keep up and he deserves more than a home where he is alone while you’re out frolicking up a mountain or spending a hot day at a lake with no AC. We would like him to stay in western NE/CO/WY area as there is so much less humidity and it makes it so much easier for him to breathe. He will also need a high quality food and multiple supplements to remain thriving and in good health. He is a bulldog and thus a higher maintenance breed. He will need Omega 3,6,9 fish oil. He will need joint supplements beyond just glucosamine chondroitin. Currently he takes several supplements and we would strongly prefer he stays on the same or very similar supplements.   In 2024 Cletus got a cold that he could t seem to get rid of. Finally he was able to get rid of it but during the multiple vet visits it was discovered that he had developed the early stages of megaesophagus. Currently he eats from a raised bowl and he is always fed with water combined with his food. He has no other symptoms. This doesn't mean as he gets older that he won't develop more symptoms so that is something that you need to prepare for. We do believe that part of the reason it took him longer to get rid of his URI was in part due to this condition. This is another reason why it is so important for him to stay on his supplements.  We thought this lug would have had his own  perfect home years ago. Yet he is still here and we believe it's due to his size. It certainly isn't due to his personality because he is the most charasmatic delicious mega sized muffin alive. We are still hoping, even after 4+ years that his PERFECT HOME is out there somewhere. Until his perfect home is found he is spoiled and EPICALLY ADORED in his "foster home!" This dog is such a prize. He will NOT be leaving to any home that we don’t think is deserving of him. He deserves the most AMAZING home on the planet and we’ll be damned if we let him out of our care for anything less.    If you think Cletus would be a fantastic fit for your home, your family, your lifestyle and you know you can afford the financial commitment to Cletus’s high quality and higher cost existence please reach out!!!    We cannot wait to meet his new family and are looking very forward to Cletus’s next chapter in his life story. Story
From Abandonment - To Rescue - To the Front Page - To Healing    LOOKING FOR ADOPTIVE HOME (or FOSTER) ASAP IN THE NE/CO/WY/SD   SIMON   Located in Dalton, NE American Pit Bull Terrier  1-2 years approx Dog friendly See below Kids over 10 would be best due to his size  Potty trained  Secure fence recommended Fully Vetted (on the 24th) Appears to be blind in one eye  60 pounds   Simon was pretty notorious in the Sidney, NE area for a while back in March when he was dumped by a truck driver at a truck stop. Hundreds of people followed the posts on social media of his plight, the photos of his multiple sightings in the first several days, and then his eventual rescue. It was a heartbreaking story of a dog suffering the ultimate betrayal and then spending days looking for his betrayer and then finally running in fear when that person couldn’t be found. He was terrified but kind. It was very difficult to witness and hear about.  Irregardless of the dedicated efforts of multiple caring individuals as well as law enforcement, Simon refused all help and eventually started wandering further and further. It wasn’t until he wandered into a fenced yard that he was captured; and then his story became front page news.  Simon is safe now, but his story is far from over. SIMON NEEDS A HOME!! Until then he’s just another dumped homeless dog. Is that what we want? Simon has had his vaccinations and will be neutered and microchipped on the 24th. From there he needs his much deserved dedicated family.    Simon is a very nice and sweet dog. He is not destructive. Does well in a crate. He’s quiet. He’s potty trained. He is 100% dog friendly and non confrontational in any way. He may take a minute to warm up when meeting new people (who can blame him?) but he comes around fast. Cats are an unknown. He’s VERY interested and HIGHLY focused. But he doesn’t exhibit aggression. At this point it’s hard to say without a formal test. But my gut is saying a home without cats would be best.    If you are interested in Simon PLEASE reach out and apply. He’s very deserving and loyal and you will not be disappointed; I can assure you.  Sidenote: Simon is a dog worthy of his own Insta page, this guy doesn’t take a bad photo !!   Please contact us if interested or have questions.    To Contact Us Message the Page  Facebook Message Cilena Dueker TEXT Cilena at 308-249-4308 Fill out our Adoption Application at https://www.highplainspaw.org/adoption-application Fill out our Foster Application at  https://www.highplainspaw.org/foster-application Email us at highplainspaw@gmail.com   $200.00 Adoption Fee   (The $200.00 is considered a nonrefundable donation and being we are a 501c3 organization it is tax deductible. Story
Sidney NE area Labrador Retriever/American Staffordshire Terrier/ mystery fusion  Birthday 03/23/2022 Dog friendly Cat friendliness unknown, she was good with cats but she hasn’t been around one in her current foster home so a little hard to say for sure Kid friendly, as long as the children have DOG MANNERS  House trained Needs a SLOW FEEDER BOWL She will crate with no issues. She needs work on house manners but she’s a quick learner and super eager to please. Does decent on a leash, she is strong and does pull sometimes so some work on that will be needed Loves to cuddle, has no idea of personal space Sunbathing is a favorite past time  Loves a routine Fully vetted  70lbs approx    Austyn has grown up in rescue she is very loved by us and by her foster family BUT she is so deserving of her FURever home. She has had little to no interest since birth. We have no idea why she’s had such little interest, we thought she would be one of the first to be adopted. Unfortunately she is still waiting, we would REALLY love for her to find her people.    Not only is Austyn the cutest chocolate gumdrop, she has such a charismatic personality. She is right behind her sister when  greeting ppl and welcoming them to the home. She is on the more independent side. She is more of an act now and think later type of girl.  She really needs her people or a foster home with less dogs and more attention so that she can blossom and reach her full potential. She can get protective over toys and bones with other dogs but we think part of that will subside in a home with less dogs. She just wants more attention and love than she’s given. She’s crazy eager to please and has so much love to give.    This girl is such a beautiful girl inside and out. She loves people, is doing decent on a leash, but she is strong, it’s just her sincere and deep love of life and everything that every day has to offer!    If you’re interested in adding this, sun and fun loving, super star cuddling, party ready insanely fantastic girl PLEASE contact us asap!   http://www.highplainspaw.org https://www.facebook.com/HighPlainsPAW : https://www.facebook.com/groups/836373273962895/?ref=share https://www.highplainspaw.org/adoption-application   https://www.highplainspaw.org/foster-application highplainspaw@gmail.com (402)957-1578  . .    $.   ( 5013 . , ' .)   means, altered, up to date on vaccines, HW tested if applicable and on flea/tick preventative (chemical or natural, aka no buggies)    , . Located in the Western NE/WY/CO area20 months approxGerman Shepherd DogWould do best with older children with dog manners or no children ( , )Dog friendly Cat friendlyHouse trainedKnows some commands & will go in a crate with a treat. She is incredibly eager to learnWants to be around her people… all the timeCorrectly wary of strangers, as is typical to the breed Learning to play & retrieveLoves to cuddle on the bed, so much it is a that she be allowed on the bedFantastic for nail trimsLeash trainedDoes well in the carLikes to be left alone when eating, she doesn’t share food ( )  Fully vetted55lbs approx (should be 60ish) Vera had a very rough first year and a half of life. She is an amazing testament to how resilent dogs can be. Very spent her first year rotating between a pen and a kennel with little to no human interaction. Since being rescued however she has fully embraced spoiled indoor dog life. During her time in rescue we have had the honor of watching her blossom and learn to dog.  Vera is a wonderful example of what a GSD should be.  She’s extremely loyal, loving and constantly seeks or wants to be with her human.  She’s  protective of those in her care. She is correctly wary of strangers(GSDs are Not Labs/Goldens). Like a typical GSD Vera is a serious girl. She likes tasks, including monitoring out the window watching for any concerns. She is quick to learn and enjoys positive reinforcement time for training. She does sometimes let some silliness seep through, but she is not a dog that would ever be described as “goofy.”  As mentioned above Vera is learning to dog and part of that is learning to play. She enjoys playing with her fosters younger male dogs. Her foster also has older male dogs who Vera just doesn’t play with, so she does recognize social cues. Vera considers herself top dog and can be incredibly bossy, so she would do best with submissive dogs. She is a rough player so that is something to keep in mind. This sweet girl has a medium activity level would love to go on outdoor adventures. She is incredibly regal and truly captivating. She moves like a dream and has good confirmation. She has a small crook in her tail that makes her even more endearing. She has medium prey drive but does well with cats.  Vera appreciates very, slow introductions to new people, preferably with yummy treats involved.  The approach should be to let Vera go to new people, don’t let new people crowd or force themselves on her.  Vera also appreciates being left alone to eat.  She would prefer if you don’t stick your hand in her bowl or let other dogs near her when she’s eating. This is just proper doggie etiquette but one she will enforce.  Vera is working on putting on a little weight so the opportunity to eat three meals a day would be great until she gets into a maintenance phase. Vera is just a special, lovely girl that is going to give 100% of herself to you once she knows she can trust and love you.  She deserves the most loving and caring home and we are determined to find that Furever home for her.   If you think that Vera may be a great fit for your home please contact us!  $.  ( 5013 . , ' .) means, altered, up to date on vaccines, HW tested if applicable and on flea/tick preventative (chemical or natural, aka no buggies)  , . Story
Gigi Located in the Sidney NE area Born 11/15/21 Terrier/Chihuahua/Min Pin/ Mystery fusion is our best guess Extremely dog friendly and oriented  Not sure about cats  She would likely be ok with older and calmer children ( , ) Does fine in a crate but often needs to be picked up and put in Very eager to please but you must go slow because she is so sensitive with human feedback Absolutely adored the outside when it’s warm  House trained as long as she is let out appropriately  NOT leash trained Very shy and submissive  Fully vetted  15lbs approx Gigi was from a litter of pups and for whatever reason she was completely overlooked. From the time she was a baby baby she was more interested in hanging with the adult dogs than the puppies and spent most of her time napping on the couch or various dog beds with her besties. We quickly fell in love with this 2lb girl who showed no concern cuddling up to a 70lb APBT or Saint Bernard for nap time. She is now full grown around 15lbs with gazelle like legs, the same soulful eyes and adorable expressive ears. We thought she would be one of the first pups to get adopted, especially with how photogenic she is, however her family has alluded us so far.  In order for Gigi and her momma (Meep) to have the smoothest and most successful transition it is required that they go together. They have an extremely healthy and sweet bond that will assist them both with feeling safe and offer them a sense of comfort that will be needed for success.  As it turns out it may have been a good thing that Gigi has stayed with us longer as we have had the chance to really get to know her. Gigi is VERY SHY with people. She is independent and very sensitive. She also has quirks like, she doesn't love eye contact unless she initiates it and even then not prolonged. She is incredibly sensitive and just telling her “no” in a stern voice makes her stop and can make her cower. In fact she will even tuck her tail and roll over sometimes when you just talk to her, but a quick belly rub and she’s good to go. The entire litter is quirky like this, but she’s still the sweetest and most precious little lady. With strangers or when uncomfortable she will just seek out her safe space. She will need a home with people who will give her the time and love she needs to flourish.  Gigi is impossible not to love. She is playful seeks out love and attention but she is still independent. She can be a bit mischievous, she is just very impish in her personality, like a little silly elf. She can be a touch protective of her food but I wouldn’t say she is food reactive and likely in a home with less dogs the small protective issue will subside. We also believe that in a home with less dogs her personality will blossom even more and some of her shyness may subside. Gigi is a very sweet soul who needs a gentle and patient home to love her forever.  We know this is a big ask. . If you believe you have the patience and love to welcome these girls into your family, accept who they are currently and see their incredibly potential reach out to us! We know their rare but magical home is out there and we are devoted to finding it!  To Contact Us Message us through our website http://www.highplainspaw.org Message the Facebook Page at https://www.facebook.com/HighPlainsPAW Fill out our Adoption Application at https://www.highplainspaw.org/adoption-application Email us at highplainspaw@gmail.com $200.00 Adoption Fee total for Gigi & Meep (The $200.00 is considered a nonrefundable donation and being we are a 501c3 organization it is tax deductible. The fee itself is not negotiable, our vets don't negotiate and thus neither do we). HISTORY Around Christmas a couple years ago Meeper came to us from a horrible BYB/ hoarding situation in TX right around Christmas. She arrived with 4 newborn pups and 4 other adults, all have been placed but Meeper and Gigi. Upon arrival she was unable to be handled but if we didn’t take her the other option was euth and we couldn’t stand that idea. We knew she was a protective momma and rightfully so, in addition to being scared and confused. She had never dealt with any change from the craptastic life she was raised in, she knew nothing else, no human kindness, no love, rare human contact. Lucky for Gigi she didn't grow up in that environment and has been surrounded by love her entire life. As a result she doesn't have the same fear of men and strangers as her momma. we have tried multiple times to find the special home for these girls but all inquiries didn't seem to grasp their special needs. As a result we decided to take them off for a bit before trying again.  $200.00 Adoption Fee total for Gigi & Meep (The $200.00 is considered a nonrefundable donation and being we are a 501c3 organization it is tax deductible.
