Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Visiting Room:3Is the Muffin Man real? Yes—and he's an orange tabby sweetheart with a big personality and even bigger purrs! At 7 years old, Muffin Man is the perfect blend of confident and cuddly. He adores people, loves attention, and doesn't mind being doted on. Whether he's strolling around like he owns the place, showing off his baking skills, or curling up for a cozy catnap, Muffin Man brings joy and comfort to everyone he meets. He's not just a cat—he's a vibe. Medical Disclosure: Polyuria and Polydipsia This cat has been observed drinking and urinating more than what is considered normal. There are many possible causes for increased drinking and urination in cats, including kidney disease, diabetes, thyroid disease, urinary tract infections, or other metabolic conditions. Due to the shelters limited resources we have not performed diagnostic testing, so we do not know the underlying cause. Because we cannot determine the reason for his increased thirst and urination in the shelter, we recommend that adopters have him evaluated by their regular veterinarian soon after adoption. Your veterinarian may recommend screening bloodwork and a urinalysis to look for common causes. Depending on results, additional treatment or follow-up may be needed. Any medical evaluations or care after adoption will be the responsibility of the adopter. December 13, 2025, 9:38 pm

Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Cat Holding 3 (Cat Alley):4Introducing Zorro! This caped crusader is a gentle (retired) tomcat with a soft coat. He learned early the art of silence and observation. While other cats might boast their confidence with loud meows and daring leaps, Zorro prefers to be a cautious watcher. He spends his days lounging, his eyes half-closed but always alert. Strangers rarely earn his trust, yet those patient enough to sit beside him without expectation soon find a loyal companion who permits gentle pets. Though shy by nature, Zorro's world is rich with quiet beauty. In his calm, unassuming way, he reminds everyone that courage can live quietly, and that affection, once earned, is all the more precious for its rarity.  December 21, 2025, 10:26 am

Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Cat Adoption:24Meet Prince, a young tuxie who is full of life and personality. He loves to play and will keep you smiling with his funny stretches and playful energy. He chirps, has the tiniest, sweetest meow, and thrives on attention. Expect lots of purring, biscuit-making, and happy roll-overs for pets. Like many solo kittens, Prince can be a bit excitable during play, but he does great when given toys. Prince was recently treated for FIP (feline infectious peritonitis), and is grateful for his second chance. Affectionate and entertaining, this little Prince Charming is ready to find a loving home. Could it be with you? Medical Disclosure: This cat was diagnosed with Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) with neurological and ocular involvement when he arrived at OAS. FIP is a disease caused by a mutation of the feline coronavirus. Although historically considered a fatal condition, effective antiviral treatments now exist. This cat completed a full course of treatment for neurological/ocular FIP and has made an excellent recovery. At this time, the cat is considered clinically recovered and this is not expected to affect the cat’s long term health. FIP can rarely relapse, but most treated cats continue to do very well long-term. Adopters should monitor for any concerning signs such as changes in vision, abnormal eye appearance, wobbliness or weakness, seizures, decreased appetite, or lethargy. If these occur, follow-up with your veterinarian is recommended. Typically a repeated course of medication is required if a relapse occurs. No ongoing medications are needed based on the cat’s current condition. Oakland Animal Services is unable to provide additional medical care post-adoption. Any future concerns or treatment needs will be the responsibility of the adopter and their veterinarian.  December 21, 2025, 10:02 am

Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Visiting Room:2 When Banjo first arrived at OAS, this handsome boy was overwhelmed by the shelter environment. He stayed in the back of his cage and, although easy to pet, showed little reaction. Now, after several weeks and lots of gentle socialization, he is slowly coming out of his shell. With pets, he relaxes, closes his eyes, and leans into your hand. He'll lick liquid treats from your finger and comes forward for wet food. Banjo needs an adopter with a quiet home—someone patient, experienced with cats, and ready to help this sweet boy blossom into a warm and affectionate companion.   Note:  This cat is under-socialized and will do best in a calm home with a patient, cat-experienced guardian who can give them the time and space they need to settle in and build trust. A quiet environment is essential, as busy households or homes with young children will feel overwhelming for them. They have lived with other cats before (some of whom are also at OAS) and would thrive being adopted with one of their feline friends or joining a home with a gentle, resident cat. Story
Pinto is a gorgeous fella with big round expressive eyes. He loves a good scratch under the chin and the simple things in life: long naps in the sun, quiet spaces, and the night time zoomies. Pinto would thrive in a single cat home with a calm atmosphere. He is two human years old and has few experiences living amongst other cats. It takes him a bit of time to warm up to new people so he loves a dark, cool space to retreat and regulate. Pinto is ready to fill the bean shaped hole in your heart.

Best Match Seeking an adopter with moderate experience Familiarity with the breed is a plus Could join a home with savvy, calm teens Needs to be indoor only&#226&#128&#139 Raja is a Bengal with a big personality and a sensitive side. He is still learning to trust people, but his passion for wand toy play (along with his love of treats) are helping him come out of his shell. When the toys come out, Raja shows off his athletic Bengal energy and playfulness. Raja is bonded to his younger buddy, Cooper. Cooper is everything Raja needs in a friend: outgoing, social, and a true lap cat. He sets a good example for Raja, showing him that people can be safe and loving, while also giving him a playmate to burn off energy.  They are a dynamic duo who balance each other beautifully and are looking for kind, patient guardians who will continue to their socialization- and give them lots of fun things to do! Raja is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and tested negative for FeLV and FIV.
