Story
Meet Arwen! Arwen is a sleek grey tabby with an ephemeral look straight out of Rivendale! She is equal parts playful and cuddly, and has the most remarkable respect for personal boundaries I've experienced coming from a cat! She is looking for a new home after her previous owners had a change in circumstance and could no longer keep her. Found orphaned behind a school in Oakland at just 8 weeks old, Arwen has overcome a rocky start with remarkable spirit. She recognizes her name (when she so chooses) and is an A+ companion for nearly any (indoor) adventure:- Looking to build a blanket fort? She's your co-architect.- Reality TV marathon? Prime lap cat; no notes.- Need some alone time? She'll check in, then entertain herself. Arwen does great with other cats, and is the perfect home companion looking for a lifetime of love and cuddles! A note on her health: Arwen is FIV positive, which means she needs to be kept indoors and ideally with FIV+ or FIV- cats who are up to date on vaccines.

Story
Stan was found in Fremont in 2021 and I took him in as a 10-12 week old kitten. He is 5 years old now, and a very sweet guy. He has spent his whole life as an indoor/outdoor cat, and ideally he could remain that way as he enjoys his outside time. But I do believe he can make the adjustment to being an indoor cat only. Unfortunately, I need to re-home Stanley as I am moving and am not able to bring him to my new place. He is a very sweet cat overall, he is social with humans, and has lived with a dog for the past 3 years. I wouldn't call him a lap cat, but he does like to always be close by his human.

Story
Polly is the Yin to Penny's Yang. Calm, sweet, precious, and melt-in-your-arms affectionate. She is timid at first, but her sister helps give her the confidence to come out of her shell. Once she does, she will crave your attention and love, gently patting you on the leg to be picked up and held or placed on your lap. Like Penny, she loves toys, interactive play, and wrestling with her sister. Overall, you will fall in love with this dynamic duo. Watching them snuggle together and take care of each other will melt your heart. Not to mention, they are endlessly entertaining. Polly is spayed and up to date on her vaccines. Her estimated date of birth is 4/24/22.

Story
Penny is one half of the Penny/Polly dynamic duo. She is the bold, confident, comedian of the two. She craves attention and affection like her sister, but in a much sillier way. She loves to roll on her back and be spun around on the floor or dive head first into her tunnel--her way of asking to go on a tunnel ride (get dragged around the house in her tunnel 😆). When she's not being an absolute goofball, you will find her cuddling and grooming her sister or snuggling up with you on the couch. Penny is spayed and up to date on her vaccines. Her estimated date of birth is 4/24/22.

Story
Candy is a beautiful calico who is the loveliest chatty little girl. While she can be shy, she loves being around other cats, enjoys face and neck scratches, and being talked to. Up until recently Candy never left the floor, but she finally jumped up onto the back of a sofa and was looking out the window. At times, she gets so excited and shakes her tail high in the air especially when getting wet food. With time, patience, and meat tubes she will come out of her shell and be so happy. There is no doubt this calico girl wants to be inside and around both humans and other cats. She needs to go to a home that already has resident cats. It's been incredible to see her thrive in her foster home with 3 other cats. Candy would do best with older, respectful children and may do fine with a calm dog. Candy is spayed and up to date on her vaccines. Her estimated date of birth is 12/14/19.

Story
Pistachio is a very confident and adorable kitty, and loves to check out anything and anyone who comes his way. He is very playful, but has matured past the chaotic kitten phase, and is gentle with his surroundings. Pistachio is chill with anything that is happening and is fun to be with. He enjoys meeting other cats and people. Pistachio would do equally well as a solo cat or with a cat buddy. Pistachio is neutered and up to date on his vaccinations. His estimated date of birth is 7/25/2022.

Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Visiting Room:2Frank is an 11-month-old guy with a big personality. He's playful, curious, and full of youthful energy—always ready for wand toys, interactive play, and anything that keeps his busy mind engaged and his athletic body moving. Once he feels safe and settled, Frank enjoys affection on his own terms, especially cheek scratches and gentle attention from people he trusts. He can be sensitive to overhandling and appreciates someone who knows how to read feline body language and respect his boundaries before he gets overstimulated. Frank is looking for a savvy, experienced guardian who understands that confidence is built with patience, consistency, and respect. In the right home, he'll reward that understanding with playful antics, affectionate moments, and plenty of entertaining companionship.  April 22, 2026, 4:08 am

Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Visiting Room:3Ramona is a 2-year-old calico who's finding the shelter a difficult place to be her true self. She came in as a quiet, calm indoor cat who liked being pet and could coexist peacefully with other cats — and that cat is still in there, emerging in small ways for volunteers who take a slow and patient approach. She's not quite there yet, but she's responding to unhurried interactions, and simply keeping her company without asking too much of her goes a long way. Ramona will need a calm household without young children, with experienced cat guardians who are comfortable letting her set the pace. For someone willing to give her the quiet, space, and time she's looking for, Ramona has a lot of softness to offer once she feels safe enough to show it.  April 22, 2026, 4:08 am

Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Cat Holding 1:17Hi, I'm Rue. I'm 14 years old, with mostly white fur and a few spots, and I've got one folded ear that gives me a bit of character—and a story to go with it. A kindhearted person found me injured and made sure I got to a vet hospital, and I've healed up since then, but I think it explains why I appreciate the quieter side of life these days. I might not hear everything, but I've gotten pretty good at noticing what matters—like when it's time for food or when someone's about to pet me. I'll lean in, nudge your hand, and make sure you understand that stopping is not part of the plan. Occasionally I make unexpected noises like a low growl or hiss that seem to confuse people, but I promise I'm not being difficult—I just have my own way of talking. I'd be happiest in a calm, quiet home where I can settle in, enjoy my meals, and keep things low-key. I'll be honest with you—I'm a senior, and I've got a few medical things going on, like a heart murmur and early kidney disease, but I'm stable and feeling pretty good these days. I eat well, I like attention, and I'm not asking for much beyond a comfortable place to land and some affection. I've been through a lot, but I would love a retirement home of my own. I'm eating well, seeking love, and enjoying life—I simply need someone with a big heart to offer me comfort, patience, and a cozy place to spend my golden years. Could it be you?  April 22, 2026, 4:08 am
