My adoption fee is $0 I'm a friendly barn cat. I enjoy observing people and love to play, but I don't like to be petted. So, I need an outdoor home with a job to do, but I may come around from time to time to say hello. Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 8.2 Age: 2yrs 1mths 3wks

Great news! My adoption fee has been paid by someone who loves me and wants me to find a great home. Here's what you need to know about me:I can be shy in new spaces. I need a family who will let me take things at my own pace as I learn about new things. Once I come out of my shell, I have lots of love to give.If there are kids in my new home I need them to be 12 years or older and I need to meet them before going home. Children can be a lot for me to handle so I want to make sure we're a good fit! Primary Color: Brown Tabby Weight: 9.75 Age: 7yrs 1mths 3wks

Great news! My adoption fee has been paid by someone who loves me and wants me to find a great home. Here's what you need to know about me:If there are kids in my new home, I need them to be older than 6 and must meet them before going home. An adoption counselor can tell you more.I don't like being picked up. It's pretty scary and uncomfortable for me not to have all four paws on the ground. A family that can respect that and only pick me up when necessary is really what I need.I am scared in new spaces. I need a family who will let me take things at my own pace as I learn about new things. Once I come out of my shell, I have lots of love to give. Great news! My adoption fee has been paid by someone who loves me and wants me to find a great home. Here's what you need to know about me:I like to play rough! I need a family who will give me plenty of outlets for my energy! Toys, climbing structures, scratchers, playtime, you name it! If I don't have toys to play with, I may use your hands instead!I'm not a lap cat I may cuddle up to you when I am relaxed, but I am really looking for a family who will play with me, give me plenty of things to scratch and climb, and things to keep me mentally stimulated!I need to meet any kids under 12 years old living in my new home before I'm adopted. I just want to make sure we all get along. I can forget my strength and size!I would prefer a home without cats. We just don't get along - I may be able to go to a home with very friendly cats after a very slow introduction. Primary Color: Brown Tabby Secondary Color: White Weight: 15.86 Age: 8yrs 0mths 2wks

Story
Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OkvLmDhiTRY Pequena is a petite beautiful girl who survived on the streets for most of her young life until she came to our rescue. Despite that, she is very friendly and social and loves to be petted. She is very food motivated and very affectionate. She is not vocal. She is great with other cats and with dogs. She is currently in Oklahoma where she was rescued but can only be adopted out of state. She has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport locations listed below. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, we will either find a local foster to take her in or she will go back to Oklahoma on the next transport until a new home is found. www.facebook.com/desideratarescue/reviews Transport locations: - Washington State (Kennewick, Lynnwood, Seattle/Tacoma) - Oregon (Portland and Springfield) - Colorado (Ft Lupton) - Illinois (Vandalia) - Indiana (Spiceland) - Ohio (Columbus) - Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh) - New York (Albany and Buffalo) - Connecticut (Enfield) Vetting: spayed, microchipped, rabies vaccine, FeLV/FIV tested, FeLV vaccine x 2, FRVCP vaccine x 2 (minimum), on monthly flea/tick/intestinal worm/heartworm prevention. Adoption fee: $350 (includes the $200 cost of transport from Oklahoma) A lot of shelters/rescues do not test for FeLV/FIV and consequently also do not vaccine for it. But we do. The cost for the test and 2 vaccines is $150. So the cost of that plus the $200 cost of transport is the equivalent of the adoption fee. It does not include their spay/neuter, rabies vaccine, microchip and anti-parasite prevention. Not to mention the cost of food, gas to get to/from the vet, gas to get them to transport and the cost of any other medical needs they may have had. So if the fee seems high, please understand that the cost of saving cats from death is much higher and also that you will have peace of mind about your cat not having or getting leukemia. Getting all the vetting listed above done at a vet with non-rescue rates and in northern states where vets tend to be double or triple the cost as down here would be much more expensive than $350. Cats like me are really sweet with people when we feel at home, especially when we know them well. In new places, we tend to need a little time to figure out the coast is clear. Once I feel at home, I will be your bosom buddy. We usually are not the best in busy households, but we tend to like the company of other cats, and make really good snuggle buddies because one of the safest places we know is with our people! Hello there, I'm Honey, a shy but sweet cat hoping to find my forever home! 🍯 While I may be a bit nervous here at the shelter, I'm eager to find a loving family where I can truly shine. It might take me some time to adjust to my new surroundings, but once I settle into a loving home, I'm sure to blossom into a social and affectionate cat. I've even lived with another cat before, so I'm no stranger to feline companionship! If you're patient and understanding, I'm confident that we can build a wonderful bond together. With a little time and TLC, I'll be purring in your lap and showering you with love in no time. Let's meet and see if we're the perfect match for each other! Cats like me do not tend to get riled up too easily. We feel like we have a pretty good handle on things and feel comfortable around new people and in new places. I might be a good fit for a family with children, or a slightly busier household. Got another friendly pet at home? We will likely get along with a little time and positive introductions. Story
Taco can be pretty shy. He prefers quiet environments. Taco is currently homed with an older dog, and a younger cat. While he does get along with both, he definitely does not like other animals. He can be very territorial and prefers lots of space. When stressed, he can be aggressive. I've had him since he was a kitten, and I love him very much. I'm not in a hurry to rehome him, but if the right household came along, then I would love for him to be happy.
