Story
Brindle, bright-eyed, and full of heart, Diesel is the best mix of athlete and goofball. He loves people, makes soft eye contact, and is eager to work for treats or toys-classic Dutchie! His favorite toy is a blue & pink rugby ball. He has done well meeting friendly dogs with proper introductions and respectful play. He gets excited fast and will need someone to give him proper outlet and structure. We recommend a working-breed-savvy, active home that enjoys training and enrichment. Teens/older kids who can participate in his routine could work; cats are unknown. After activity, he settles nicely and leans in for affection-loyal, attentive, and ready to be someone's shadow. If you've been looking for a smart partner to adventure with and train, this boy is your guy. Quick highlights 1.5 years old, Dutch Shepherd (brindle male) • Social, affectionate, toy & food motivated (loves fetch) • Enjoys hikes/runs/training games • Dog-friendly with proper intro; cats unknown • Best with shepherd-savvy, active adopters Diesel is neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. He's currently located in Vallejo CA

Story
Dutchess is a beautiful shepherd girl with a tender heart that’s still learning the world can be a safe place. Right now, she’s very scared — the kind of scared that makes her try to make herself as small and far away as possible when someone approaches her crate. It’s clear she hasn’t had an easy start, and everything feels new and overwhelming. But even in her fear, Dutchess is trying. She allows her leash to be put on and will come out with gentle guidance, showing just how much quiet bravery she has inside. One of her biggest moments so far? When the crate door was open to the yard, with a calm environment and a familiar dog nearby, she found the courage to step outside on her own, go potty, and return to her safe space. It may seem small, but for Dutchess, that was huge. Right now, her crate is where she feels safest — she’s even pushed all the blankets aside to lay on the plastic bottom, seeking comfort in what feels predictable and secure. She’s not ready for the world just yet, but she wants to get there. Dutchess is looking for a very patient, understanding home — one that will give her the time and space she needs to build trust at her own pace. A calm environment, possibly with another gentle, confident dog, could help her continue to come out of her shell. She doesn’t need perfection — she just needs someone willing to meet her where she is and celebrate every tiny victory along the way. Watching Dutchess learn to feel safe will be a journey, but it will also be an incredibly rewarding one. Beneath the fear is a sweet soul just waiting for her chance to shine. If you have a quiet home and a big heart for a dog who needs a little extra love, Dutchess is waiting for you

Story
Meet the fantastic Cooper! This guy is a short stack of appreciation. He is only about 55 pounds and on the smaller side for a male GSD. What does he appreciate, you may ask? Being away from the shelter of course and in a home with friends to play with, people to pet him, and a cozy bed to sleep on each night. Cooper was pulled from the Stockton Shelter in mid-July. That place was stressing him out! He needed time, structure and some confident dog and people companions in his life to help him decompress. He also needed to be neutered and to get rest during his recovery time. What helped Cooper move into the new chapter of his life: Short walks through the neighborhood. A patient and confident person. A playful pup friend. A predictable and structured routine. Love and understanding. Cooper tends to have some environmental anxiety but using the recipe above this guy will reward you with companionship, couch potato vibes, goofy antics, silly zoomies, and the softest sweetest eyes to stare into. Fill out an application if this sounds like your type of pup!" FOSTERED IN ACAMPO

Story
Sweet Virgie was found as a stray in the rural city of Firebaugh, CA. When Carl got "the call" from the shelter, he found out she was placed on the euthanasia list. Thankfully, Carl was able to put "a hold" on Virgie until Golden State could get her up into Northern CA. Virgie is approx. 8-9 years old, which makes her a Senior dog. She is housebroken, crate-trained, and is an all-around love. She is very easy-going and loves to chill on a pillow or at your feet. Her foster dad reports, "She is a great dog. Perfect. 'Netflix and chill' companion and likes to snuggle on the sofa. She is unflappable, nonchalant, and calm, except when I return home. Greetings are vocal and exuberant, as she dances, spins, and talks." Virgie was fostered with two older female GSDs (one has been adopted) and did great. Although she is very good with other dogs, both male and female, Virgie would enjoy a quiet, calm house (with or without a four-legged sibling). FOSTERED IN SACRAMENTO
