Story
Current Location: Germantown, MD Meet Bernie Bernie is an incredibly sweet, easygoing boy who believes life should move at a calm and comfortable pace. He is happiest stretched out in a cozy bed or curled up beside his person, enjoying a long, peaceful nap. He loves being near his people, enjoys being held, and offers quiet companionship without being demanding. Energy and Personality Bernie is truly a low energy dog. He prefers lounging and gentle moments over busy activity. Short walks and a little playtime with his favorite toys are just right for him, and then he is content to settle back down. He thrives in calm, predictable environments and does best when life feels steady and relaxed. Training and Behavior Bernie is house trained, crate trained, and doing very well with leash training. He continues to improve on walks and now only occasionally barks at sudden noises outside. He has shown how adaptable and eager to learn he is when given gentle guidance. He knows basic cues including come, stay, and no, and understands his crate routine well. Bernie truly wants to do the right thing and responds beautifully to structure and consistency. Social Life Bernie enjoys being near his people but is not clingy. He is comfortable spending time on his own and settles easily when left alone. He prefers quiet companionship and gentle affection rather than constant activity. Best Home Fit Bernie will thrive in a quiet, low traffic home with someone who appreciates a relaxed, easygoing dog. He is perfect for a person or couple who enjoys peaceful evenings, slow walks, and cozy time at home. A household that respects his space and values calm energy will help him feel safe and confident. Bernie is ready to offer his gentle heart, steady presence, and loyal companionship to the right home.

Hello! My name is Billie! Fostered in King William, VA. Meet Billie: A Work in Progress Looking for a Patient Champion Billie is a 1 year old, 15 pound work in progress, and she's worth every bit of patience it takes to help her blossom! This girl has come so far already and is ready to continue her journey with the right person who will take their time and believe in her. The Billie You'll Love When Billie is comfortable, she's wonderful and very affectionate. She'll let you pet her, jump up into bed ready to snuggle, and show you just how sweet and loving she can be. She's house trained and quickly picked up learning how to use a doggy door, proving she's smart and capable when given the chance. What Billie Needs Billie tends to be nervous and will bark when anyone comes in the house. She has to get comfortable with someone new slowly. She would do best in a calm home without young children who may seem unpredictable to her. She needs an adult who will take their time, be patient with her. Good News Billie will go in a crate on her own, showing she's learning to trust routines and safe spaces. She gets along well with other dogs, which could be a wonderful support system for her as she continues to gain confidence. Best Home Fit Billie needs a calm, patient adult home without children. Someone experienced with unsure dogs who understands that progress takes time and celebrates every small victory. With the right person, Billie will continue to grow into the affectionate, wonderful companion she's already showing she can be. If you're ready to be Billie's patient champion and help her write the next chapter of her story, she's waiting to meet you! Apply today!

Story
Rosie is the definition of a chill companion, a 7 yr old chihuahua daschound mix. This laid-back little lady has truly mastered the art of relaxation. her happy place is curled up in her bed, watching the world go by and keeping a calm, quiet eye on her people. She's not asking for much, just to be near you. Move to another room? She'll follow, find a cozy spot, and settle right back in. Low-key and loving, Rosie is wonderfully easy to live with. She's house trained, pad trained, and walks nicely on a leash. She doesn't demand a lot of attention or activity, but she genuinely enjoys being in your company and will happily engage in some gentle play when the mood strikes. For the most part though, she's perfectly content to simply exist alongside you in peaceful, quiet comfort. When it comes to new dogs or people, Rosie takes a sensible approach. She may offer a quick bark while she sizes things up, then she settles right down like "Ok, I'm good" and goes about her business. No drama, no fuss. She's been pretty indifferent to other dogs overall, and while her experience with children is limited, she's shown no aggression and quickly relaxed when she's encountered them. Rosie has no history of separation anxiety, no aggression, and no bite history. She is, by all accounts, simply a very easy, very sweet girl. One thing to note is that Rosie is currently working on getting back to her ideal weight, so a home that can support some mindful feeding habits would be wonderful for her. Rosie would thrive in a calm, quieter home where someone appreciates a low-energy, undemanding companion who just wants to be in the same room as you. No chaos required, just a comfy bed, a kind person, and maybe a sunny spot to watch the world from.

Story
Looking for a furry companion who will bring joy, loyalty, and endless love into your home? Miss Daisy is the one for you! This petite, sweet gal is ready to find her furever foster. She is a nice little charmer; she likes to lick your hands and cuddle up, once she gets to know you! Daisy can tolerate other dogs but does not ike them in her territory. She can be very possessive of her human, desiring all the attention for herself! Daisy may need a refresher in housetraining. We are looking for someone who can take care of her medical needs on a daily basis. This includes heart tablets every day for her murmur (she does not mind them at all), a special diet (which the rescue will provide, you just need to be able to occasionally pick up the food from the rescue), and occasional vet visits also covered by the rescue. Hatton Animal Rescue Foundation's Sanctuary Forever Foster Program: The goal of the Forever Foster program is to provide loving and safe homes for older, special needs or palliative care animals. A Forever Foster pet is usually a senior pet or a pet with medical needs that generally would not be adopted otherwise – these are the unfortunate ones who are overlooked at animal shelters and are often the first to be euthanized. While you provide a safe home environment (food, toys, attention and, of course, LOVE) for one of our sweet animals, Hatton Animal Rescue is committed to covering ALL medical costs for the deserving animal that you welcome in. Why commit to becoming a Forever Foster? Of course, the first reason is that these special animals deserve to live out their lives in comfort and with love. Second, Forever Foster parents will be the first to tell you that the love these pets return is unconditional, and that it is extremely fulfilling to provide special care. The love you provide goes a long way as your forever foster is able to live out his/her best life. If you ready to make the commitment to become a Forever Foster, please complete our foster application and we will reach out to you to schedule an interview. Please note that opportunities for temporary fostering are available on a case by case basis, but generally, we are looking for forever homes). https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/foster/HATT/Dog
