Meet Forever Love aka Lovie. She is a high energy puppy. She loves to play with her toys, with her humans, or with other dogs. Lovie walks well on a leash and is doing extremely well with potty training. She will sleep quietly in her cage overnight or if left alone for the day. I think she would make a great running partner. Adoption Day: September 5th at PetSmart Tysons Corner from 10:00–11:00 AM, an approved adopter must be present to adopt. Some pups may stick around until 11:00 AM for the public event—check our Facebook page closer to the date to see if this pup will be attending the extra fun!  ##2639047##

Story
Say Hi to the happiest and most easily adaptable pup! Beat of My Heart is a jolly and curious puppy who loves to play and to be cuddled (and for some reason, he loves watching tv with you!). He is super treat-motivated, so he learns really quickly -- he already knows how to sit, go to his crate, go to his bed and has made great progress in potty training too. Before getting his food, he knows to sit down and when it's time for bed, all you need to do is open his crate and he goes right into it and sleeps (make sure to add a few teething toys in there just in case he gets bored when he wakes up before you do! He has been socialized around other dogs that we meet during our walks and he is aware of strangers, although he sometimes randomly barks at people walking by us. He also walks extremely well on the leash, which makes him a perfect companion if you also enjoy walks!  Adoption Day: September 5th at PetSmart Tysons Corner from 10:00–10:30 AM, an approved adopter must be present to adopt. Some pups may stick around until 11:00 AM for the public event—check our Facebook page closer to the date to see if this pup will be attending the extra fun! ##2813516##

She’s equal parts silly, smart, and deeply loving—and once you’re in her circle, you’ll feel like the most important person in the world. Maisy may be a little shy when first meeting new people, but give her a bit of time and you’ll meet her true self: a joyful, affectionate girl who absolutely adores her humans. She enjoys toys, long walks, and soaking up every bit of affection she can get. Maisy is truly happiest when she’s with her people, being part of their world. While Maisy is making great progress, she is still working on her reactivity and will need a home without other dogs. With continued guidance, structure, and patience, she is learning more every day and growing in confidence. What we love most about Maisy is how much she wants to do well and how far she’s already come. Her adoption fee has been waived to help her find the loving, understanding home she’s been waiting for. Story
To learn more about Ozzie, please get in touch with dogs@lostdogrescue.org. Meet Ozzie, a spunky Feist mix with a shiny black coat, a playful spirit, and enough enthusiasm to turn every day into an adventure! This handsome youngster is always ready for fun, whether he's zooming around the yard, chasing his dog buddies, or engaging in a friendly wrestling match. If you've been looking for a dog who can keep up with an active lifestyle, Ozzie may be your perfect match. Ozzie is more than just a bundle of energy—he's also a smart boy with great house manners. He appears to be both house-trained and crate-trained (though we can’t guarantee it), rides quietly in a crate during car trips, and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. He even shares space peacefully with cats, preferring to mind his own business rather than stir up trouble. Ozzie can be a little cautious when meeting new people and may announce their arrival with a bark, but once he realizes there's nothing to worry about, he's quick to settle down. Because he's still a young dog with plenty of puppy energy, Ozzie would thrive in a home that can give him lots of opportunities to play, exercise, and explore. An energetic canine companion would be a huge bonus—he absolutely loves having a four-legged friend to romp around with. If you're looking for a cheerful sidekick who will keep you smiling and make every day a little more exciting, Ozzie is ready to meet you!

Story
Meet Madison!  This beautiful little Chihuahua mix came from a heartbreaking hoarding situation. At one point, Madison's owner had 51 dogs living in a small trailer. Thankfully, concerned family members stepped in to help address a situation that had gotten out of control, and the number of dogs has since been significantly reduced.   Worthy Dog became involved through one of our veterinary partners. We sponsor the spay/neuter clinic that has been altering the remaining dogs at no cost to stop the cycle and prevent the population from growing. So far, we've welcomed four dogs from the property into our rescue, with plans to help even more.   When Madison first arrived in her South Carolina foster home, she spent her first few days safely tucked away in her crate, quietly taking in her new surroundings. She had spent her entire life in a small, isolated environment where the outside world simply didn't exist. Every day household sounds, open spaces, and new experiences were all unfamiliar and overwhelming.   Over the course of a month in her quiet, rural foster home, Madison gained confidence. She learned to trust her foster mom, Renee, followed her from room to room, enjoyed cuddles, and gained confidence from the other dogs in the home. She even started playing with her foster siblings, which was great to see her joy.   Madison arrived in Northern Virginia on June 21 and is now settling into her local foster home. The move to a larger home in a busier area has been another big adjustment, and she's taking things at her own pace. Change is hard for Madison, and each new environment requires time, patience, and consistency before she feels safe.   She is still learning that people, noises, and everyday life aren't something to fear. While she's making steady progress, she remains cautious around strangers and unfamiliar situations. She's house-trained and crate-trained, but she's still building confidence with leash walking.   Madison is looking for a calm home where she can continue to thrive. A quiet, low-traffic neighborhood would be best. A securely fenced yard is strongly preferred so she can safely explore at her own pace while she gains confidence. A calm, confident resident dog would be a tremendous help, giving Madison someone to follow and learn from. More than anything, she needs an adopter who understands that trust isn't instant.    FOSTER MOM UPDATE - 7/15/26   Madison is flourishing!  It took about a week for Madison to move past the fear and uncertainty she felt after transport, but giving her time to decompress, build trust, and feel safe has been more than worth it. In just a few weeks, she's blossomed into my constant companion, and watching her confidence grow has been incredibly rewarding.   She has a wonderful balance of energy. Madison loves playing fetch, digging through her toy box, chasing squirrels and birds in the backyard, and showing off her joyful zoomies each morning and whenever I return home. She also enjoys daily neighborhood walks and has grown increasingly comfortable with all the sights and sounds around her. She's a great walking buddy and loves taking time to sniff and explore. At home, Madison has learned that her people provide all the things she loves - affection, treats, regular meals, stability, and a calm environment. In return, she gives endless companionship, cuddles, and the sweetest smile. During her first two weeks, my husband was away for work, so she didn't meet him until later. Although cautious at first, she quickly decided he was part of her pack and has also done well with our 22-year-old son. When guests visit, Madison initially hangs back to assess the situation, but it doesn't take long before she chooses to settle beside me on the couch or curl up nearby. She'll likely be shy when meeting potential adopters, but don't let that fool you. Once she feels safe, she becomes an incredibly loyal, affectionate companion. Madison enjoys the company of other dogs and would love a playful canine companion. She has tried to engage our older pups in play and would love another young dog who enjoys wrestling and chasing. Because of her playful nature, I wouldn't recommend a home with a senior dog who prefers to be left alone. One thing to know is that Madison doesn't like being unexpectedly grabbed, as it still startles her. She responds well to gentle, patient handling and continues to gain confidence every day. One bonus, she wasn't bothered at all by fireworks or the recent thunderstorms, which was a pleasant surprise!       Madison may not be the dog who immediately greets every visitor at the door, but she will evolve and learn to trust. She needs an owner who understands that confidence-building is a process, and watching her confidence grow will be incredibly rewarding. She's already shown us that, given patience, consistency, and love, she can blossom into a happy little companion ❤️   Apply today! Story
**NEEDS FOSTER** Meet Wilson! This adorable young pup came into rescue after living with an elderly owner who was no longer able to properly care for him. Wilson is now safe in foster care and looking for an active forever family that can keep up with his zest for life. Wilson is everything people love about puppies - playful, curious, affectionate, and full of personality. He approaches every day with enthusiasm and excitement and is always ready for his next adventure. His foster mom describes him as incredibly smart, very entertaining, and definitely a bit of a handful in the way that only adolescent puppies can be. Wilson is a high-energy pup. He loves to play, explore, and stay busy. Because of this, we strongly feel he would thrive in a home with another young, playful dog who can help burn off some of that energy. He loves canine companionship and would enjoy having a buddy to wrestle, chase, and play with. As far as his house manners, he is making good progress with housetraining. Early on, he showed some excited or submissive urination, but this has improved significantly in foster care. He is crate-trained and keeps his crate clean when his foster parents are out of the home. While he may protest for a few minutes when first crated, he settles down and relaxes once he realizes it's time to rest. On walks, Wilson is generally well-behaved and enjoys exploring the world around him. He can be a little unsure when meeting new dogs and may need a moment to warm up, but he gains confidence quickly and looks to his people for reassurance. Like many adolescent dogs, Wilson is still learning what belongs to him and what doesn't. If left unattended, he'll happily investigate coffee tables, towels, clothing, and anything else that looks interesting. In Wilson's mind, everything is a toy. The good news is that he's very smart and responds well to correction and guidance. This type of behavior is very normal for a 7- to 8-month-old puppy and will continue to improve with training, structure, and maturity. Once he's had plenty of exercise and playtime, Wilson reveals his softer side. He loves to snuggle, enjoys burrowing under blankets, and is more than happy to curl up next to his favorite people. Despite his busy nature, he's a small dog who enjoys affection and wants to be part of the family. Wilson is looking for adopters who understand puppy behavior and are ready to provide structure, training, exercise, and plenty of opportunities for play. In return, he'll bring energy, laughter, companionship, and endless entertainment to your home. If you're looking for a fun-loving young dog with a big personality and an even bigger heart, Wilson may be the perfect addition to your family.  We need a foster or an adopter to bring Wilson to town. Foster-to-adopt is an option, too! Apply today!   BREED ESTIMATE: Terrier/Chi Mix GENDER: Male APPROXIMATE WEIGHT: 17 lbs APPROXIMATE AGE: ~6 months old COAT TYPE:  Short ADOPTION FEE: $425 OTHER INFO: UTD on shots/neutered/microchipped LOCATION: Charlotte, NC - Needs a foster to come to the DC metro FOR MORE INFO OR TO ADOPT: Please go to https://adopt.worthydog.org and complete the application. Story
Meet Ellie, a sweet little Chihuahua who is learning just how wonderful life can be. Ellie was rescued from a breeder who was having trouble selling her. At a year old, she had never been vetted or spayed and had very little experience with life outside the home. But Ellie is a quick learner, and within just a few days, she settled into her foster home and began figuring out how to be a dog. Today, Ellie is a happy, playful little girl who has blossomed in foster care. She loves playing with her canine foster siblings, Nugget and Ryder, and looks to the other dogs for guidance. She's definitely more of a follower than a leader, so having another confident, friendly dog in her forever home would likely help her continue to thrive. Ellie has discovered the joys of toys and especially loves playing with her ball. After a full day of playing and napping, she likes to crash out with her favorite ball beside her. She also has a sweet, cuddly side and loves snuggling up with her favorite blanket. She's doing great with her house manners, is crate trained, and walks nicely on leash using a harness. She's also a terrific little travel companion and loves riding in the car. Ellie is sweet and loving and has a happy, gentle personality. She's still a little nervous around strangers and will often tuck herself beside her person when she's unsure. She's learning to trust new people and has gone from being nervous around her foster's grandsons to now allowing them to pet her. She's made incredible progress in just a few weeks! Ellie would do best with a patient family who will continue building her confidence and exposing her to the world at her own pace. A friendly canine companion would be a big plus. Once she feels comfortable, this little girl is ready to play, cuddle, and follow her people wherever they go. If you're looking for a sweet little sidekick with a playful personality and a heart full of love, Ellie may be your girl! ❤️ Apply today!  Note: Ellie will be coming to the DC metro area later this month (Aug) BEED ESTIMATE: Chihuahua GENDER: Female APPROXIMATE WEIGHT: 11 lbs APPROXIMATE AGE: ~ 1 year old COAT TYPE:  short coat ADOPTION FEE: $425 OTHER INFO: UTD on shots/spayed/microchipped LOCATION: Rock Hill, SC - Coming to N.
