He’s friendly with people, dogs, AND cats, making him the ultimate social butterfly (minus the wings… although, with his charm, he might as well fly).     Looking for a buddy who’s sweet as can be, adores life, and is ready to love you unconditionally? Then Merle is your guy. Don’t wait — apply today and scoop up this cutie before someone else does. Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life. She is an adorably cute little Feist mix who is in search of a loving forever home where she can finally feel safe, cherished, and part of a family again. Sadly, Bailey was surrendered through no fault of her own, but due to financial hardship.     At the perfect small size, Bailey is truly the total package. She’s fully housebroken, gets along wonderfully with other dogs, and has a sweet nature that makes her impossible not to love. While she can be a little shy when meeting new people, all it takes is a bit of patience and kindness for her loving personality to shine through. Bailey would thrive in a home that will give her time to settle in and blossom at her own pace.     If you’re looking for a loyal and cuddly best friend, Bailey may just be the perfect addition to your family. Story
Meet Luna! This baby hippo is a sweetheart and bsolutely adorable. Luna has returned to Miri's Haven after more than a year in her adoptive home. Her owner had a medical issue and her family was unable to care for Luna. Luna returned to us completely bewildered, unsure what just happened, and with a few extra pounds that we're helping her shed with time and care. She loves sunbathing, food, and taking long naps - ideally in her favorite cave bed. She is not very leash-trained so would love a fenced in yard to explore (and sunbathe in). She is housetrained, pee pad trained, and gets along beautifully with the other dogs in her foster home. Luna is a great passenger in the car, sleeps through the night, and doesn't mind staying home alone while her humans are out. She needs eye drops twice a day but doesn't mind taking them as long as she is in her bed, which is her safe space. Like many seniors (human and canine!), she has some trouble hearing and seeing, and needs a hand navigating stairs. Since she doesn't love being picked up, a home without stairs would be best. Luna likes having a consistent routine and would love a home that is generally calm and quiet. She's also big on food and snacks (as evidenced by her weight!) - her forever family will need to continue supporting her on her weight loss journey and help her maintain a healthy weight. Luna is a chill, sweet, quiet girl who would love a permanent place to sunbathe. Could you be the one to finally give this girl the forever she deserves? Luna is approximately 10 years old and 10 lbs. Fostered in Severn, MD Please apply at MirisHaven.org

Story
Meet Lumi! This gorgeous Chi girl greets life (and everyone she meets) with her whole entire body. Lumi is sweet, affectionate, and deeply devoted to her people, with a personality that somehow manages to be both cozy companion and joyful little burst of energy all at once. The highlight of Lumi’s day is seeing you, and she makes sure you know it: her otherwise calm demeanor instantly transforms into a full-body celebration, complete with tail wags at the speed of light, tiny snorts, and a level of excitement that feels wildly disproportionate (in the best way) to her size. Lumi is happiest when she’s close to her people. She doesn’t need to be on top of you at all times, but she very much prefers to be nearby, keeping tabs on your movements and making sure she’s included in whatever you’re doing. She loves walks, enjoys being active, and would thrive with a family that’s excited to take her out and about. At the same time, she’s perfectly content winding down on the couch in the evenings, just happy to be part of your routine. Lumi also has a wonderfully funny side. When it’s mealtime, Lumi doesn’t just get excited—she performs, dancing and tapping her little feet like she’s been waiting her whole life for this exact moment. It’s hard not to laugh, and even harder not to fall completely in love. Lumi is making great progress with potty training and continues to improve. She walks well on leash, sleeps through the night, and is fine when left home alone. She does get a bit anxious in the car, so that’s something her future family can help her build confidence around. She’s also currently awaiting results following the removal of a mammary tumor, but otherwise is a healthy, vibrant little dog who is very much enjoying life. Lumi would do best in a home that will take her on regular walks, keep her engaged, and give her the closeness she loves so much. She is good with cats and other dogs, loves children, and has a friendly, easygoing nature that makes her a great fit for many homes. She does have a curious, adventurous streak and is quick to slip out doors if given the chance, so a secure environment with fences outside and awareness around open doors is key. Lumi brings a kind of joy that sneaks up on you: suddenly your days revolve around her greetings, her routines, and the way she makes even ordinary moments feel like something worth celebrating. Lumi is approximately 9 years old and 12 lbs. Fostered in Lothian, MD Please appy at MirisHaven.org

Story
Meet Ernestine, aka Tina! This elegant queen has fully settled into her routine and is living her best life. Tina was found as a stray down south, lost, frightened, and unsure of what kindness looks like. Now she’s safe at the Haven after taking her very first flight to get to us. She’s spending her time in foster care resting, healing, and learning the fine art of chihuahua diplomacy in a house full of tiny, friendly supervisors who have made her feel right at home. Tina adores exploring the yard at her own pace, following foster mom around for treats, and supervising household activities like a tiny, silent CEO. She still isn’t a fan of being handled, and leash training… well… let’s call it a journey. She does great once the leash is on, but getting it on and off? Absolutely not. A fenced yard would be ideal for her comfort and peace. Tina is a wonderfully independent girl who would love a calm home where she can just chill out, vibe, and socialize when food is involved. She’s not a cuddle bug, and she’ll tell you that herself, but she’s a lovely companion for anyone who appreciates quiet company, a gentle presence, and a little lady who lives life on her own terms. Tina is looking for a home with patient humans who will let her acclimate on her own timeline. While it takes her some time to trust you and she's not much for snuggling yet, she LOVES chicken jerky treats and they are a surefire way to win her heart. She bravely eats them directly from her foster mom's hand, and will even let her foster mom pick her up as long as she does it confidently. Tina enjoys company, but not being handled. She has recently permitted foster mom the honor of delivering chin rubs, which is basically her version of signing a peace treaty. She will sit nearby while you exist ~ as a listener, a witness, a small supervisor with opinions about the crinkle of packaging and the exact time dinner should have been served. She is deeply bossy about food and deeply uninterested in being carried, hugged, or otherwise arranged. You talk, she listens, and occasionally she comes over to confirm you still possess snacks. Tina enjoys toddling behind her foster mom from room to room, selecting cozy beds the way some of us collect throw pillows. And she is a great dining companion: as soon as her foster mom sits down to eat dinner, Tina is right in front of her asking for a seat at the table. She's building her leash walking skills and making great progress, but she'd love a home with a fenced-in yard where she can bounce arond like a silly, happy explorer. Tina gets along well with other small dogs; we haven't had a chance to observe her with bigger ones yet. She's learning lots of new skills in her foster home and is making great progress on both stairs and housetraining. For now, she will benefit from having some potty pads around. She does well in the car and is happy to stay home while her humans are at work. Tina would love a quiet home where she can exist alongside you, request snacks, and occasionally socialize on her terms. She is a companion in the truest sense: present, steady, and never overwhelming. Tina is looking for a quiet, gentle, and patient forever family where she is loved just as she is. Could it be yours? Ernestine is approximately 9 years old and 10 lbs. Fostered in Richmond, VA Please apply at MirisHaven.org
